Springsteen to rock the campaign trail

(CNN) - Two very high profile surrogates will be campaigning for President Barack Obama in the crucial battleground states of Ohio and Iowa next week.

The Obama campaign announced Saturday morning that former President Bill Clinton and rock star Bruce Springsteen will team up in Parma, Ohio on Thursday to stump for the president.

Later on Thursday, Springsteen will appear in Ames, Iowa, the campaign said.

Clinton, meanwhile, will continue on to an event in Steubenville, Ohio.

"Bruce Springsteen's values echo what the President and Vice President stand for: hard work, fairness, integrity," Obama campaign manager Jim Messina said in a statement. "His appearances will help with our get out the vote effort in these critical swing states and we are thrilled with his ongoing support."

Springsteen appeared, and performed, at rallies in 2004 for Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, that year's Democratic presidential nominee, and in 2008 for Obama. But he had said as late last month that he wouldn't be performing in the 2012 election.

The appearance of the former president is no surprise though. He's been a very high profile surrogate for Obama this year.

Both campaigns have been spending a lot of time and money battling for Ohio's 18 electoral votes.

Ohio was the state that put President George W. Bush over the top in his 2004 re-election. Four years later Obama carried the state by five points over Sen. John McCain. But the Republicans performed well in the Buckeye state in the 2010 midterm elections, winning back the governor's office and five House seats from the Democrats.

A new CNN Poll of Polls that averages the three non-partisan, live operator surveys in Ohio conducted entirely after the first presidential debate indicates a very close contest, with Obama at 50% among likely voters and Romney at 47%.

Iowa has six electoral votes and went for Obama in 2008 and Bush in 2004. Polling conducted before the first presidential debate showed a close race there with a slight advantage for Obama.

Too bad, Bruce, that you're using your art for political concerns.

Don't forget Mitt Romney's buddy Ted "Mr. Crappy Pants" Nugent! They have a lot in common. Nugent admitted (in his book) defecating in his pants for days prior to going for his military draft physical during the Vietnam Era. Romney didn't need to go that far – just go on a religious "mission" in the South of France where you spend two years living large on the beach – spending your daddy's money while those useless 47% Americans fought and died in the Jungles.

Springsteen?! Romney has Kidd Rock and Obama brings in this dinosaur? Bring in Jack White. Double down and get the better Detroit superstar to back you up. Oh yea, I guess you want to win Florida. "Born in the USA (wearing clothes that were made in China)!!!"

@Doug Were you spewing the same crap when Wilson called President Obama a liar in Congress? I seriously doubt it. If you take your blinders off, you will see just what level of hypocrite you are, just like everyone else sees you.

Bruce has more cool in his little finger than Kid Rock will ever have. Bruce's popularity is timeless, and hacks like Nugent and Rock can't hold a candle to the number of concert tickets sold and gross sales by Bruce. And Romney would be a fool to hitch his wagon to Shrubby as hands down Clinton is waaaaaaaaaay more popular than the worst president of all times. Mission accomplished!

@"If you've got a business, you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen." –B. Obama

Interesting, Springsteen claims he is self taught. Sorry Bruce, somebody else made you a musician.
-------------------------------------------------The Romney Campaign is built on lies and distortions like the one you're mindlessly repeating. Is honesty a characteristic you consider "optional" as a conservative? Your candidate and his running-mate (Lyin' Ryan the "marathon man") are pathological liars. Are you?

Wake up blue colar. There are three groups that dominate the democrat-socialist agenda.
They are the Ivey League Illetists, the Media [ print and TV news], and the Art and Entertainment Egomainiacs.
None of them have EVER done a real days work. They only need you in order to continue feeding the BEAST.
    Don't Be Fooled Again !

Its funny... Rmoney has Kid Schlock supporting him... the guy who said politics and music don't mix, while Obama has Bruce Springsteen, one of the numerous musicians far better than Kid Rock who prove that isn't true.

Spingsteen can obviously see what many GOTP can't! The President is for all Americans, for protecting our liberty & for working hard inspite of opposition! Romney is for the 1% at the expence of the middleclass & poor & he & Ryan want to intrude themselves in our bedrooms, w/archaic policies outlawing all abortions & even birthcontrol! They want to do what's already been done in many states: plunder education budgets, end womens healthcare clinics, lay off govt. workers such as teachers & emergency responders, while increasing military budget! Is that the type of govt. we want? We'll get it w/R&R & war on top of that!! Obama/Biden Nov. 6!

All Obama cares about is maintaining his celebrity status with these clowns. They like being invited to the Whitehouse for state events and repay Obama with appearances and campaign contributions. These out of touch celebrities know NOTHING, just like their empty suit friend Obama. Idiots of a feather flock together.

It will be SO refreshing when this buffoon is tossed in November so we can get a REAL LEADER in the Whitehouse. Obama has cheapen the office of President so much it is ridiculous.

Mitt probably never heard of kid rock untill the campaign. Im sure mitt would love to hunt with teddy. Great image can you see it.? Maybe like the artical said the presidents values are the same as the bosses. You know the 47% mittens wants to write off. THe average middleclass. Tired of going backwards then move forward. Springsteen is a timeless, iconic patriot championing the rights of veterans. Michelle Obama has also taken up the cause for helping military familes. What has Romney ever done for our active military members except advocate for sending you off for another tour of duty to keep the war profit machine running? The Repubs never even saluted your contributions to our country during their convention. If you are a vet returning from Bush's wars and find yourself unemployed, know that it is the Repuglican CEOs who don't want to risk hiring you due to the risk that you may have physical or mental problems as a result of serving this country. Know also that it is the Repub party that wants to reduce any opportunity for a government job where you as a veteran are given well deserved extra credit as an advantage over non-vets in securing a decent job. Ask youself as a vet what the Repubs are offering you except more war to feed their profit machine.
