Obama ad makes case for economic policies

(CNN) – The latest spot from President Barack Obama's re-election team focuses on an improving economy through the voices of middle class American workers, who argue for a second Obama term by pointing to a slow but noticeable recovery.

"We've gone from pulling into our parking lot, which was so depressing – there would be 2 or three cars in this parking lot – to our parking lot being full," says one woman in the ad, which was released Monday.

Another continues, "We have a whole second shift that we brought in, new employees, and we have a future at our plant now."

The next two speakers point to Obama's economic policies as drivers of the improvements they're seeing: "When you look at the president's plan I don't think there can be any question that we're on the right course for today's economy," one says.

"President Obama does get what people need and that's jobs and the opportunity to help themselves," says another.

"Stick with this guy. He will move us forward," asserts the final speaker, using Obama's campaign slogan.

Obama's campaign said the new commercial would air in the battleground states of Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, and Virginia.

Democrats hope improving jobs figures over the past few months will boost Obama's re-election chances. In September, unemployment fell to 7.8%, the same rate as January 2009 when Obama took office.

Tomorrow night, Obama should not take Romney to school
He should take him to church
Right now Obama and Romney are competing for the vote of the stupid, uninformed and the easily swayed.
He needs to vicious in his attacks and the attacks have to register on an emotional level in order for him to be successful.
    Take'em to church

Thank goodness for the "obstruction" of the republicans. They put the brakes on Obama's country killing policies, at least as much as they could. We would be a lot worse off if they had not.

Ray- it would be a breath of fresh air if Mr. Romney, Mr. Ryan and the GOP and their supportes could simply say something, anything that was true prior to the election.

I have to believe a candidacy predicated on nothing but lies cannot and will not be good for America. The GOP is too busy trying to "win" to look at the horrible effects of their own actions.

    Wilson-

Do enlighten us- what could be worse than the 8 years of G.W. Bush (a man no Republican today will even have campaign with him much less even mention).

The GOP's obstructionism is nothing less than treasonous at a time of economic calamity.

Where do all these hateful regreesive's come from? President Obama has reversed the second great Republican depression, he has added 5.2 million jobs, over 30 months of consecutive economic/jobs growth all economic indicators are up, unemployment down. But the regressive right will have non of it. What kind of sick freak cheerleads for America's failure?

Voting for the man who hides his money off-shore, and refused to document that he has paid his taxes (while the rest of us must- and at significantly higher rates) demonstrates what is so wrong with the GOP-

They see the rich as some sort of endangered species to be coddled and nurtured with more tax cuts, while they perceive the poor to be a problem- not worth their time to help fix.

The recovery is happening. The number of people shopping has increased. The number of people taking some vacation time has increased. The number of people at the gaming parlors has increased. The number of people going to work has increased. The number of people with health insurance has increased. Big box stores – those bastions of consumer spending – are doing well. They have expanded and added new departments to their stores. People are learning to buy local and thus cut some costs. The media outlets are the happy recipients of millions of dollars to run these political ads. I am sure you can think of other examples.

Now look at the 1%. They must be making money because they are funding political ads. OF course we will never know who they are. One candidate has 4 homes, many, many cars, boats, etc. The other owns one home. One VP candidate is in the 1% while the other owns one home. We should not begrudge another person for their success or wealth nor should we pretend that wealth is a reason to elect someone to office.

And how do you feel about Romney's five sons avoiding voluntary military service during times of war , wars they supported ?

Just to let you know Joseph McCarthy as "Tail Gunner Joe" . An alcoholic, he was unable to take the advice of doctors and friends to stop drinking. Joseph McCarthy died in the Bethesda Naval Hospital on 2nd May, 1957.

Joe McCarthy was and remains the single most despised man in American political memory — far more reviled than Aaron Burr or Richard Nixon

I love all the people that say "the recovery is too slow, this is the slowest recovery since the great depression." Well "DUH" it was the worst crisis since the great depression!

After the thrashing Vice President Biden delivered to Paul Ryan last week simply by sticking to the facts, one wonders what sort of a beat-down Romney is in for tomorrow night.

Wilson, unless Romney explains how he will pay for the 2 trillion increase that he wants in military spending and his 20% tax cut, which will cost the Treasury 5 trillion, we will become Greece 7 trillion faster with Romney.

Certainly...please tell me how, by withdrawing funding for planned Parenthood, by giving vouchers for health care, by pushing legislation to outlaw abortion for any reason, by making distinctions between "legitimate rape" and "illegitmate rape", by denouncing evolutionary science, by advocating "intelligent design"...tell me, how is this good for America? How is making sure that only those with the means can afford only the best Health Care - don't we all deserve a chance at a better life? Having access to quality health care at an affordable price is good for everyone - many more people able to work, and less sick days. Tell me how putting the decision-making for such an important issue in the hands of state and local governments that want to restrict your access to healthcare, contracpetive medicines, Planned Paretnhood, etc, is not funneling everyone into ONE point of view... Please tell me...

Romney lied when he said 6 major economists and budget groups support his plan to cut taxes $5 trillion, and raise miltary spending (for no good reason) by $2 trillion. They in fact say it CANNOT be done given current data and conditions.

Why would I believe anything else this man puts forward?

    Conservative logic:

The president's policies, a good deal many of which we blocked obstructed and made nearly impossible to pass, are the reasons that the economy isn't recovering as fast as we'd like. We can't point to any specific one, as all the liberal fact checkers have rated all our claims as "Get the heck outta here with that B_S". Nor will our fearless leader provide us with details.....on anything.

He won't even allow them to come up for a up or down vote.Oh so true about Obama and his covering up EVERYTHING from Fast and Furious to the funding to his contributors for Green Jobs and resulting bankruptcies to Lybia and his total misrepresentation of the facts pertaining to the death of four Americans.

Unfortunately less people are employed today than when the Narcissist and chief took office. They spin it a bunch of ways but in the end less poeple are working today and the economy is growing at 1% which does not even keep up with population or immigration growth.
