Obama comes on strong, Romney stands ground in second debate

Hempstead, New York (CNN) - President Barack Obama fought back and Republican challenger Mitt Romney mostly stood his ground.

The second of three presidential debates on Tuesday night brought the desired energy from the president sought by worried Democrats after a lackluster performance in the first encounter nearly two weeks ago.

Mitt was rude??!! That is a joke what about the laughing and interrupting by Obama? Did you go to the refrigerator then and miss this? Mitt has business experience...do you want someone who actually HAS created real jobs or someone who talks about creating jobs and instead the unemployment rates are up. When our contry has been run into the ground our debt is soaring and we come to being in a desperate situation which one has the actual life experience that can HELP?

I don't think I really have the words to express how uncomfortable I felt as I watched Romney, reboot, reprogram. and restart his whole campaign.
    Wow! Who was he tonight?

There is no way the president will fix this economy which was broken for 8 years in 4. Impossible. I don't want to go backwards where Bush had us. I want to keep moving forward. We the people have to help each other move forward. Romney is not the one to move us forward.

Romney was rude. The difference is clear and Romney's math don't add up. Obama did a really good job.

Romney is a rude, nasty, arrogant, and agitated old man on full display tonight. This was evidenced in the first debate but media overlooked due to lackluster performance by Obama. Mitt has yet to introduce specifics on tax plan, jobs, differentiation from Bush, etc. Loved the questions from ordinary folk like me! I was proud of my President. Obama 2012

If Romney were as aggressive with the economy and foreign policy as he was trying to defend the past four years, we'd all be living in Utopia. As an independent, Romney caught me on his final two minutes when the facts of the last four years were clearly explained...and, unfortunately, with gas over $4.00 a gallon and twenty-three million Americans seeking work, the facts cannot be talked away....my vote will be with Romney...I'll risk the unknown as I am not happy with the known...

Both parties did well but, I think Obama did better. It is harder being on the defensive side and still did very well. I give this one to Obama.

Romney clearly did not answer the questions posed to him on a regular basis. When he made attempts to answer questions his answers lacked any sort of detail. He spent a lot of time criticizing President Obama on various things but this just came across as arm chair quarterbacking. He expressed disagreement with Obama policies but did not offer any specific alternate actions. The Libya portion is a great example of this.

I feel the lack of content on the Romney side was VERY apparent tonight. Anyone that denies it is very biased and is incapable of coming to a neutral conclusion.

  20. Fact

@okwede, I see you bought into the liberal lie. Romney has done way more to help the middle class than Obama dreams of. You say Mitt, get a real job? Obama is the one who hasn't worked a real job.

BTW, fact check this: Obama implied he knew the day after, (in the Rose Garden) that Benghazi was an act of terror. Then he flew off to Las Vegas, and he didn't even tell the rest of his administration it was NOT caused by the video; imagine that! So for at least a week his administration was touting the video story; did he know that? LORD, PLEASE spare us 4 more years of this.

The President was awesome. The Commander In Chief had Romney tongue tied and looking like the frustrated flip flopper he is. Romney was condescending to women. Obama was strong and Presidental. Four more years!

You people that are defending Obama amaze me. Obama insulted Romney throughout the debate and failed to provide any details backing up his plans for the next 4 years, apart from "we'll do this" or "we'll do that"; I'm curious – why has he failed to take up any of his so-called promises for the next four years during his first four years? Can't blame Congress – Obama has the power to issue executive orders (look at the DREAM Act). Romney correctly stated that all Obama's campaign is good at is attacking others without actual providing substantive details about his plans. If you vote for Obama, prepare for another 4 cold-hard years of the economy continuing to shrink, an increased debt, and no hope for recovery. Romney was right about the numbers behind the economy supposedly gaining ground – look how many people are giving up searching for jobs on a constant basis. Hello?
