Obama comes on strong, Romney stands ground in second debate

Hempstead, New York (CNN) - President Barack Obama fought back and Republican challenger Mitt Romney mostly stood his ground.

The second of three presidential debates on Tuesday night brought the desired energy from the president sought by worried Democrats after a lackluster performance in the first encounter nearly two weeks ago.

President Obama did a super job of leveling Romney to a rubble in the 2nd debate with facts and forceful assertion and poise. Romney stuttered a lot because he has to make up the lies to look like facts and he was exposed. The voters must know that business experience is not same as running a government on a national level. In business you only care for a few shareholders at the expense of many ordinary folks and you do not care about their welfare or well being because that dips into the profits for the rich. In governemnt you take care of everyone especially the less fortunate. Romney is not that person.

Each guy had different goals to accomplish tonight. The Prez wanted to show that he was willing to fight to get back the male vote he lost while the Governor was concentrating on expanding his appeal to women. Both accomplished what they wanted. Obama showed that he could be assertive while Romney showed that his softer side. All in all, it won't change much but it may swing certain demographics that each side was targeting.

Candy did a terrible job. Why didn't she correct all of Obama's lies, but jump in with an incorrect statement for Obama.
    Romney won!!

Obama Won! He was more poised, seemed more mature and more 'Presidential'. Romney came off more like he was too in the attack mode which made him appear more childish and less intelligent and well-rounded. Obama seemed to talk more intelligently on the issues, and seemed to have more debt and range in explaining of the issues.

The title is misleading. Romney looked like a fool and CNN is pandering to their forces because Cindy Crowley moderated the debate. The President spanked the pathological liar!

I think Candy did a very good job. I know the far right is not going to give President Obama any credit but that was a clear knockout. He had the Mittster on the defensive all night long. That last statement on the 47% was a homerun.

Shame on you Candy for blatantly helping perpetuate Obamas lie about Libya by stepping in and not fact checking yourself. He did say act of terror but only when referring to september11th, 2001, not Benghazi. And shame on you for cutting off Romney and giving Obama 3 minutes more than Romney to speak. It is shameful how far CNN will go to re elect Obama.

Candy Crowley was incredibly unprofessional at tonight's debate. And so obviously in President Obama's corner, even chiming in to agree with Obama when he was wrong.

What happened in Libya is very important to the citizens in this country. Not providing security and allowing four men to be murdered which included an ambassador is a crime. Obama didn't answer the question directly because of course he can't. But did grandstand an answered it was his responsibility not Clinton's because she works for him. Such wonderful people those two. Fire them both! Why did he not respond to two letters from the Senate Investigation Committee asking him to come clean?

Obama showed up this time, but the facts are the facts. He hasn't delivered.
And his out right lie about Libya. The day after he said it was terror attack, and then for days after that he and his team say it was about the movie. His EPA will be coming out with new restrictions and regulations on oil and natural gas in Jan 2013( funny it comes after the elections). Think that will lower energy costs, think that will cost a few jobs? This guy is is no friend to the carbon fuels that power almost all of our economy. And when ObamaCare kicks in, how bad does it have to get before people pay attention and stop believing the telepromtor talking points

Also, I'm tired of Obama CONSISTENTLY being given the advantage on minutes. 3 minutes more in this debate, 4 minutes more in the first debate. Unfair Moderators.

Some facts for the Dems going on about Romney outsourcing jobs...Obama's stimulus money that was supposed to create American jobs???....1.1billion to Spain, 474.4 million to Germany, 333m to Portugal, 178m to Australia, 130.5m to Japan, 84.2m to Italy, 9.5m to France, 42.2m to United Kingdom, 2.6m to China. All to build components for wind energy. 60% of central components for wind turbines were made in foreign countries! Why weren't those jobs created here?

What denial... Look at the polls and fact checkers. As always, Romney lied with most of his comments. Like all Republicans you blame the moderator or the media. You never even take responsibility for the Bush debacle that caused our problems but Romney has to tell folks why "he's not like George W. Bush". See a problem with that?

There didn't seem to be a clear winner in this debate. If you think otherwise, then it's probably because you already support one of the candidates.

@ Josie if it wasn't for Obama you probably would still be waiting on your green card. If Romney gets into office your going back where you came from within the next four years. How do you fix your lips to say your voting for Romney when kids are born and raised here with illegal parents living in the states. So the kids should raise themselves while the parents are deported back to where they came from or find a solution to help the problems with illegal immigrants. Let's not forget you were given a chance to be here although you did it the right way. So why not give others a chance. Obama Would like to find a solution Romney doesn't care and would like to deport everyone back to where they came from. You shouldn't be so selfish

This is how Obama is helping our economy....$325,000 to make a robotic squirrel to see how snakes react to it, $27 million to train Morrocans to make & sell pottery, $516 thousand to make a video game simulating going to a prom, $300 thousand for Smokey Bear balloons, $300 thousand to promote caviar, $268 million to let paper manufacturers claim waste byproduct as alternative energy, and $91 million in tax breaks to the NFL!

4 years of this and nothing changed. All we did was borrow more money from our children. And now the President is asking for four more! We need to realize our mistake and hire someone new!
