White House defends the drop in unemployment

(CNNMoney) - The Romney-Ryan camp is trying to discredit the falling unemployment rate, claiming it's due mainly to workers dropping out of the labor force. But Obama administration official Gene Sperling shot back Tuesday: "That just ain't so."

Sperling, who heads the White House's National Economic Council, pointed to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which shows the unemployment rate fell to 7.8% last month, down from 9.0% a year earlier. Most of that decline is due to workers getting jobs - not people dropping out of the labor force, Sperling said at the National Association for Business Economics Annual Meeting in New York Tuesday.

    Republicans have never been able to handle facts or truths it leaves them speechless,they can't comprehend how facts ,truths can be..Tommy Thompson of Wisconsin saying defeat Obama and send him back to Kenya,well defeat Romney and send his ass back to Mexico with the rest of his polygimist Mormon kind..We don't need any more self serving so called patriots,patriots fight for their country not run from the fight they create as Romneys family has done in decades past as he himself a draftdodger in denile that is prowar as his father..They ran to Mexico to further their polygimist agendas than came back to America because of the Mexican Revolution,now tell me that's patriotic,I'd say more cowardly than anything else but I'm not the Mormon moron am I...So if you believe in a draftdodger in commander in chief who advocates war but his family runs from it then Romneys your man but your republican reps aren't much better in only 30% have ever served in any branch of military ,they're just like Romney ,chicken hawks with the yellow streak down their backs and forget their patriotism they don't know what it means to fight for their country,they're better at running away from it!!

    I have never heard of a President having to defend unemployment rates dropping. I mean it is just silly even when it is good it is turned into something bad and the predictable media just goes right along with it. The drop in unemployment for all who dont' know is a good thing,

    @Kayla,

    Hawaiians built the White House?

    Also, that individual clearly does not represent the views of Romney's supporters anymore than Al Qaida represents the views of Islam. As much as Obamakins would love to stereotype all Romney's supporters as racist, people who are sane and intelligent know better. Sorry, your point is invalid.

    Notice that we cannot comment on the bundlers and big donors to Mr. Romney and their 3 day meeting in NY. They do keep on spending money. If we add up all their donations to the Romney campaign and to the PACs which are supporting Romney/Ryan and the Republican PAC Crossroads we could probably keep Americans fed, donate fuel to those who are having difficulty paying for fuel, keep food pantries operating, and fix up housing for those who are having difficulty finding places to live.

    They might also consider bringing the jobs back to this country, investing their money in the USA instead of off shore accounts and Swiss bank accounts, and upping the amounts of goods that factories are producing. I would have more respect for them and Mr. Romney if they did this.

    Ricky McDaniel, quit your conspiracy theories. Face it. The unemployment rate went down under a Democratic President. No fishy numbers, no nothing. The way they calculated this rate is the exact same way they calculated the ones before this one.

    And 847,000 suddenly found work after fours years of unemployment? Yeah right. Now they admit that the state of California didn't report their numbers in time for that last report.
