A day after Libya attack, Obama described it as 'acts of terror'

(CNN) - President Barack Obama said he identified the September 11 assault on the U.S. Consulate in Libya as a terrorist attack within a day; former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said it took two weeks.

The claim: "The day after the attack, governor, I stood in the Rose Garden and I told the American people in the world that we are going to find out exactly what happened," Obama said. "That this was an act of terror and I also said that we're going to hunt down those who committed this crime."

Obama is lying if he is trying to say that the day after the attack he identified it as an act of terror. He hedged and blamed the video to the View and Letterman and the UN and sent out the UN ambassador to 5 talk shows to push the video/ protest angle. Only now have we learned that there was no protest and the state dept almost immediately considered it an Al Qeada related attack.

Tonight the entire Nation saw the replay of the Rose Garden speech where President Obama directly and specifically referred to the attack as a "Terror attack". It was the day after the attack. Just like he said. We all heard it. With our ears. Those who read lips read it with their eyes. The closed caption had it written on the scroll. You're dead wrong. Really.

Our ambassador and three other servicemen were murdered – and our president went to Las Vegas. Then he spoke at the United Nation and never mentioned terror – just a video. Candy Crowley and Obama were in this spin together – the American people are not stupid – and by doing this you further prove how guilty this administration is. Does CNN really want to be a part of this cover-up? This is shameful.

"Of course, yesterday was already a painful day for our nation as we marked the solemn memory of the 9/11 attacks." Obama's on terror reference was not about Benghazi

OK let's put things in context: Did Obama say "acts of terror?" Yes. Did he describe the Libya attack specifically as an act of terror? When you look at the whole speech, BEFORE and AFTER: No. Not even close.

Wow!!!! It's late and when we post at this hour many of us become really stupid. Even a sound bite from the rose garden is a lie. Wow!!!

I don't see the relevance as to whether the president called the Benghazi attack an act of terror on Sept 12 or not. This is a non issue when deciding who to vote for.

Thank God for photographic record. Romney shot himself straight in the foot. If I can remember clearly it was who referenced the the next day after the septattack (
(12th sept) Rose garden and terror attack. The record and Candy fact checked him in real time

If Obama did state the day after the Libya attacks that this was an act of terror, then why did he lie to NATO and tell them it was because of a video? Also let's get a moderator who has enough Kahunas to tell the president and the Vice President they are rude and obnoxious- and that interrupting someone shows ignorance, not guts. I cannot believe Candy allowed Obama to run over his time every time – and then she told mitt Romney to sit down and even attacked his answers all the while not making the president answer the questions he kept dodging – very disappointing show on her end! Lets hope the moderator behind "debate number three" can actually act like a moderator instead of an Obama supporter!!

Always respected Candy Crowley until tonight. Candy, you know exactly what Gov. Romney meant but chose to play the Obama "word game." This is 2012. In 2012 "act of terror" does not equate to "terrorist attack."
On 9/12/12 Obama knew full well but did NOT tell America with straight talk that the attack on Benghazi was a "terrorist attack." He did not America on "The View." Or on "the David Letterman Show." Or at the United Nations.
This is a sign of incompetence and/or deceipt. America is offended.

Here's part of the transcript at Rose Garden: "No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for.  Today we mourn four more Americans who represent the very best of the United States of America.  We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act.  And make no mistake, justice will be done."

These are public records. Think for yourselves. Ask questions instead of being a sheep that follows the loudest baaaaa!

So when did "an act in terror" mean terrorist attack? I'm on the fence on who to vote for but I did see a President that was more aggressive this time around but a moderator that was one sided and let him bully Romney. So was it a win for Obama not really, a win for Romney nope. I want to see black and white facts. I'm already tired of this used car salesmen bullcrap

People, this is not very difficult. When a person has been lying to you for nearly four years (like Obama) he is most likely lying to you now and will continue to lie to you in the future. It's that simple.

It's amazing that even w/facts in "black & white" repubs want to spin it in favor of their candidate! Maybe Romney's tactics are rubbing off! Obama IMHO is the more trustworthy man because he is the first to say he's human & makes mistakes! Romney talks like he's already the god of his own planet, who can wave his hand & "make it so"! His taxplan is full of if-the-stars-align rhetoric, not to mention, how do people reconcile voting for a tax evader w/tax shelters all over the world! I can't trust a man who claims to be the tax/economy expert, but doesn't even invest in his own nation! Is he gonna give us tips on how to hide our money!? As far as the Benghazi attack, I'm sure there was confusion at first, just as there was on 9/11, w/a lot of classified info not for public consumption! Both Clinton & Obama have taken responsibility & I don't recall Bush doing that! Investigation ongoing! Obama Next 4!!

that is a load of crap..he blamed it on a video and said it was a demonstration that got out of hand and then deep in the speech he said we will not toterate acts of terror in a very general term not specifically calling this a terror attack. He and the whole administration then spent the next two week blaming this on a u tube video time after time.

Obama blamed the movie, for the attack, for a full 2 weeks, after the attack. Only after everyone around the world debunked that, did the administration finally admit it was a terror attack.

Why they tried to sell the story of the movie, as the cause, is still a mystery. We don't know. We only know with certainty, they were lying, for some obscure purpose. The fact they stuck to the lie, after it was entirely clear, within 24 hrs. that it was a terror attack, is the great mystery. The lying itself, is what bothers the people. Why lie?

Romney shamelessly tried to make political posturing again out of a national tragedy, similar to Mitt's irresponsible reaction initially without having all of the facts.

Romney disrespectfully used a condescending look in his eyes during this part of the debate. He thought he had a gotcha, when all Romney really had was reactionary foolishness and a lie. Sad.

If Obama truly relied upon Chris Stevens' knowledge: Secretary Clinton and I relied deeply on his knowledge of the situation on the ground there, then why didn't they provide him w/ the added security that was requested? Or pull him out of Libya if the Administration could not provide proper security? Obama is still trying to make political hay off of this unfortunate lose of life. If Obama wanted to be clear that this incident was an act of terror, he should have been specific: We will not waver in our commitment to see that justice is done for this terrible act. He mereily called it a terrible act not an act of terror.

CNN! Get your story straight. Obama used the word terror, but he did not call the incident in Libya an act of terrorism! It was a bag of lies he trird to shove at America and a cover up, As a news organization why are you not trying to cover that? I thought news reporters loved cover-up stories. I guess not when they have to admit their candidate has flaws!

Just watched the video of Obama in the Rose Garden. At no time was the word terror used ... he blamed the video and talked of senseless violence. Candy should apologize to the Romney campaign publicly for her false statement. Otherwise, CNN will be known as a conduit of Obama propoganda.
