Obama takes responsibility for issues around Benghazi attack

(CNN) – President Barack Obama took ultimate responsibility on Tuesday for issues around last month's terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

"I am ultimately responsible for what's taking place there because these are my folks, and I'm the one who has to greet those coffins when they come home," Obama said during a debate with Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney in New York.

Wow.. why didn't he go to Capitol Hill and take the responsibility? Why didn't he take the responsibility at 3am when he got the phone call?

OH MY!!! Obama taking responsibility for something???? Yeah, right. After over a month of lies and Hillary Clinton offering up herself to protect this empty suit of a President. Hillary was showing more leadership than Obama, who only knows how to lead from behind. In this case, from behind Hillary Clinton. As pathetic as it gets people.

Of course Governor Romney is correct as well as the rest of us who know that President Obama did not call the attack in Benghazi on our Ambassador and Navy Seals a terrorist attack. Even Rice refused to call it a terrorist attack. Do these people think we forget????? Everyone was calling it a terrorist attack except the Obama administration. And what about Hillary Clinton saying that the FBI was on the grounds in Benghazi conducting an investigation and then we all find out that the FBI had not made it to Benghazi and it was 3 or 4 weeks later that the FBI finally started to investigate the crime scene. Romney was correct.

Those who expect the POTUS to directly monitor the security of hundreds of embassies and consulates know very little about leadership or geography. This is a bunch of right-wing bigots trying to make political capital out of a crisis. Romney's intervention DURING the crisis was low class and shows how poorly suited he is to serve as Commander-In-Chief.

When Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld cherry-picked intelligence data to start the Iraq War i can't recall any outrage from the right-winger Fox News crowd. That breech of responsibility left 4,500 Service members dead and over 100,000 grievously wounded. That was done on purpose by "Mr. Mission Accomplished" and his evil uncle. Where was the outrage?

All of America saw the film replayed tonight of the subject speech in the Rose Garden. The President used exactly the words he said – "Terror Attack". He let Romney dig is own hole and even Candy Crowley called him out and tried to get him to drop it. Romney looked like a fool. You once again know how that feels. Do you ever get tired of it?

Again republicans you can't rewrite history, we have it on video tape in the rose garden, on sep 12, him calling it an act of terror. I think question was how did it start with rioters or pre planned. Either way what does it matter? His it started but rather the end result? Considering there were about 19 riots going on in various countries at the exact same time the idea that the Libya attack was just another protest really isn't tha big of a deal, but more importantly so what it wasn't protesters? I fail to see what that changes?

Responsibility needed to be taken before Sept. 11, 2012 to ensure the safety of those diplomats in that dangerous and volatile region. There is no excuse except irresponsibility on President Obama and his team for failing to secure the safety of those diplomats. United States citizens went unprotected thanks to their disregard for their safety and they are now dead. Now, what is the Senate going to do about it. If I were employed by anyone in the United States and beyond and my negligence caused the deaths of my co-workers I am certain I would be FIRED....

yep, just like the coward, unprincipled, liar he is he stood right up and took full responsibility – AFTER HILLARY ALREADY DID IT!!! I WISH the clintons would throw that piece of garbage under the bus and say that she 'manned up' and made him look like the weakling he is. pres. clinton could really burnish his image if he said what o'dubmo did was horrible and that he can't support any longer a president that would cover up such a tragedy for his own political fortunes. every democrat and some republicans would stand with the clintons as they showed patriotism and honored 4 deaths.

He can't monitor everything but that is why he has someone do it. Ultimately he is responsible because it happened on his watch. He mentioned terrorist acts but didn't directly call it that. Then went on to claim it was spontaneous, which, by definition of US law, isn't considered terrorism since it was not premeditated.

All of the real news stations showed the video of President Obama in the Rose Garden, taken the day after the attack, and using the exact term "terror attack". All of the nation bright enough not to watch Fox News saw the replay. Maybe it was a CONSPIRACY! That word gets your right-wing blood pumping doesn't it? Romney looks like a fool.

Romney missed killer blows again. He should have said that he doesn't care if Obama is offended by his comments about the miss handling of the terrorists attack and remind him this isn't always about Obama but it is about protecting Americans and our interests abroad.

Follow up, why are their so many tax dodgers in his administration?

Why didn't Obama pass his campaign promise bills while he had a democratic h/s instead of jamming Obama care down everyone's throat.

Wow...and it only took him a month. QUOTE (for you left wing deniers) "
Since our founding, the United States has been a nation that respects all faiths. We reject all efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others. But there is absolutely no justification to this type of senseless violence. None. The world must stand together to unequivocally reject these brutal acts." clearly he supported the BLATANT LIE that this was a response to the video. I put the question to my 11 year old son and even HE knew you don't react emotionally three months later AND that the president was LYING.

Candy had no business fact checking anyone when she clearly didn't have the facts. CNN had better back away from her before they lose more credibility than they already have.

Ask your 11 year old son if he supports deregulation to big pharma . Romney dose.
