Romney seeks advantage on Libya issue after debate

(CNN) - A sharp exchange over the Obama administration's response to the September 11 terrorist attack in Libya dominated the political discussion on Wednesday following a bruising debate that analysts and polls scored a victory for President Barack Obama over Republican challenger Mitt Romney.

The Tuesday night debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, featured a revitalized Obama fighting back against his equally combative GOP foe in an argumentative encounter three weeks before Election Day.

Actually, I give credit to women when it's due, unlike Mittens, who tries to take it for himself in an effort to rewrite history and make himself look better: Candy Crowley did an excellent job last night and I was wrong when I assumed she would be biased to protect her show from GOP blacklisting. Her takedown of Mittens' lying on the Libya issue was 100% appropriate, necessary and objective. Mittens overreached on this issue and the House GOP is overreaching on this issue in his name, and Mittens has likely killed any leverage for himself on this issue unless he and the GOP/Teatrolls can invent some new conspiracy theory to sell between now and Monday. Otherwise, he's going to have to tiptoe on it at the next debate because he's "severely" exposed to accusations of dishonesty on it now.

Save it Willard, as the whole country saw just how unfit you and your thirsty sidekick are on every issue, especially foreign policy. Candy Crowley had every right to correct you and she did whether you like it or not.

Congratulations to the president and John Kerry for a job well done and IF you have any doubt on how well the president did, all you have to do is just look at Ann Romney and her NON-serving miliary brats, as they watched with angry faces as their god was EXPOSED for the fraud and liar he is.

I am also glad Mr. President that you and the First Lady were the LAST ones to leave the stage this time as it should be and we all saw the large crowd you drew v. the Romney's. Again, job well done.

Advantage? The only thing I saw was Mitt running like a dog with its tail between its legs when he was challenged for politicizing the deaths of 4 US servicemen.

The debate I watched had Romney as the clear winner. Obama was agressive, but when it came to content and policies, it was the same old Obama B.S. which has brought this country down for the past 4 years. It appears that the biased, pro-obama mainstream media ... and, especially Candy Crowley ... using misinformation, has managed to keep Obama afloat for this long ... but, on November 6th, America will have a new President ... one who actually has the experience and know how to turn our economy around.

Willard has disrespected the military his entire life and last night his chickens came home to roost. This man is totally ignorant of foreign policy and the world knows it, as he was too busy writing love letters to really care what happened. Your sudden concern and patriotism of this country sickens me, and I can't wait until we no longer have to listen or see your ignorance on display.

    October 17, 2012 12:35 pm at 12:35 pm |

Willard, you looked very little. The President talked to you like a child and you sat in place and listened when he chided you on your accusations towards his team. You are not built to be Commander-In-Chief. President Obama is a LEADER. When he says he's going to bring the killers to justice, I believe him. Why? Because he's made that same assertion before and has carried it out. DEEDS!!! Not just empty rhetoric.

Candy is on CNNs' payroll and her name is associated with your company.

Unfortunately, she mired the facts on the Benghazi exchange interrupting the Governor so that the President did not have to answer the question Mitt was asking. This was an important question to address and as moderator, she was tasked with follow up, not being a factoid distributor on the spot. This proved her LIBERAL bias and ultimately eroded CNN's credibility with viewers on a national level.

In then end, she was wrong and CNN's journalism brand is tainted.

Ok, if we give the President the benefit of the doubt and if he truly believed that this was a planned terrorist attack one day after the attack, then why did he, his U.N. Ambassador, his White House spokesperson, and his Sec. of State put out the narrative that this was a spontaneous protest that got out of control that was incited by a video on the internet. He said it numerous times.

I think the reason is obvious. There were documented request from this embassy for additional security, those request where either ignored or straight out denied. If the story line of a spontaneous protest attack was believed, the White House could defend it by saying you can’t see and unfortunately protect every unforeseen action. And that is reasonable, we can’t predict these events.

But the fact that this was not unforeseen by the people making the request for additional security who foresaw a potential attack that could have been defended if the earlier request for security support was approved, puts the White House in the position of not being responsible in protecting the embassy and the people in it. The terrorists were prepared but we were not.

I am severely embarrassed for our country right now. For the liar and chief to stand up in front of millions and look defensive and preposterous is unacceptable. Mitt is right I will not settle and for a "moderator" to inject themselves into a debate is not only shameful but she should have her job reviewed by this station. I will not be looking to this site for any further news on anything anymore and I know a lot of others feel the same.

For the life of me I don't know why President Obama didn't just say: There is an ongoing criminal investigation underway regarding Lybia, and my Administration does not comment on ongoing criminal matters.

Anyone familiar with criminal investigations knows full well that the authorities provide false/misleading information all the time.

The debate I watched showed Romney much more definitive, assertive and solution oriented. Romney laid out his ideas, plans and the framework for implementation. The President did not share his vision for the future. He continues to run from his paltry record. Let's hope his future is not in the WH in 2013.

"Romney seeks advantage on Libya issue after debate"
Romney is seeking an advantage on an issue where he initially made himself look like a idiot trying to score cheap political points
Romney is seeking an advantage on an issue where the moderator of last nights debate had to correct him and Obama clowned him there after.
He presses this issue even after all of the humiliation he has experienced attempting to exploit that issue.
Things are finally getting back to normal. Obama is winning and Romney is losing, and that is as it should be

Look Willard, the US has one President at a time and YOU are not him. You had no right at all saying ANYTHING. Being the opportunist that you are, you couldn't even wait until the facts about everything came out before you opened your big, bullying mouth. It was NOT your job to say anything.

The fact is, the attack happened and it would have happened under any POTUS. Just like the 9/11 attacks. Shouldn't Bush be held responsible for all of those lives that were lost right here in the USA? You continue to harp on this because you have nothing else. Who gives a rats butt whether it was about a video or an act of terrorism? Either way, people died at the hands of extremists.

Stop trying to score points and stand with your President. I thought it was unAmerican to speak ill of the POTUS during war time. Shoot, I forgot, things like that only matter when the POTUS is white.

Obama lied about Libya so that he wouldn't look bad. This selfish bastard didn't deserve his first term in the White House, let alone a second.

Obama, Biden, Rice and Clinton have now spun a web of lies concerning the death of our ambassador that they simply cannot escape. They LIED to the American people for weeks when they KNEW this was a HUGE terrorist attack by AQ and other groups. So now Obama claims he called it a terrorist attack on Sept. 12th. That is a blatant LIE. His statement was a generic reference to terrorism.

Four days later, the WHITEHOUSE, aka OBAMA, sent the UN ambassador on five different Sunday talk shows to LIE and say this was the result of a demonstration caused by the video. They KNEW that they were essentially caught with their collective pants around the ankles on 9/11 and that four Americans, including our ambassador were DEAD because of it.

This whole mess reaks of Obama incompetence and coverup. He would love to claim Executive Privilege (sure to come) and bury it like he did the Fast & Furious fiasco which also resulted in the deaths of hundreds of people.

Candy was wrong. Fortunately for the democrats, the ebonics version of that transcript is in the works and you'll soon understand the facts. Rightfully you're all scared, the rest of America now sees through the lefts deception.

As usual the President talked a lot but really said very little.
He didn't answer questions and rather went off on rehearsed speech segments.
This was his opportunity to tell us his plans for the next 4 years ,quite frankly he doesn't have any .
As for Bhengazi he blatantly lied and so did Biden in his debate.
They threw Clinton under the bus and then sent her to a far away place.
This White House and its administration are dishonest and corrupt.

Romney showed the World last night that he will use a tragic national security event to exploit for his own political advantage!

Truly reprehensible, and Obama exposed Romney for what he is all about, totally without sensitivity when it comes to any concern for people at the most basic level.
