Romney son jokes he wants to 'take a swing' at Obama

(CNN) – Mitt Romney's oldest son joked in a radio interview Wednesday his preferred method of dealing with a combative President Barack Obama was to "take a swing" at his dad's rival.

Asked on the Bill Lumaye radio show what it's like "to hear the President of the United States call your dad a liar," Tagg Romney joked about his fantasy response.

"Jump out of your seat and you want to rush down to the debate stage and take a swing at him," he said. "But you know you can't do that because, well, first because there's a lot of Secret Service between you and him, but also because that's the nature of the process. You know they're going to try to do anything they can do to make my dad into something he's not."

"We signed up for it, we've got to kind of sit there and take our punches, and send them the other way," he continued.

One of Tagg Romney's brothers, Josh, downplayed the comments in a Thursday morning interview on ABC's "The View."

"That brother has slugged me a couple of times," Josh Romney said. "I'm sure President Obama has nothing to worry about."

Asked about the original comments on Thursday, Romney campaign spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg said Tagg Romney was "joking about how frustrating this process can be for family."

CNN's Rachel Streitfeld contributed to this report.

Tough words coming from a weak, cowardly, chicken hearted, lily-livered, yellow bellied, gutless, invertebrate jellyfish who himself lacks the courage to "take a swing" while wearing a uniform and defending this country.

Better yet, why not grab some friends, pin him down on the floor, and give him a haircut. At least that's a tested method for dealing with someone you don't like.

Apple does not fall far from the tree. Mr. W. Romney was, to put it charitably, a bully and showed no respect for the Office of the Presidency (please note I am not saying Mr. Obama, it is the Office). No wonder his son has no class. By the way I have heard from several sources that Mr. T Romney showed this violent streak from childhood-he needs help with his mental issues.

Furthermore, Tagg, Prince Harry and William both serve their country putting their lives in danger while you sit in your seat ready to swing, take the fight to the Middle East.

Just think if he would have said – "I would not swing at the president, because I respect the office" but he didn't.

Isn't that nice that he wants to violently protect his dad? How about he defend his dad by providing some level of proof that his dad was correct? Has he thought of that? At least he understands that politics is a brutal place. The problem is that his dad hasn't been 100% correct.

Wow! All those years in the mormon church...don't stop there!
All those years with great parents...don't stop there!
All thoses years living a priviledge life...don't stop there!
All those year going from door to door with his mormon bible...don't stop there!
All those years at the best universities of America...don't stop there.
This is the best response this young man can articulate?
Education without a moral compass is dangerous.
An apple does not fall far from the tree.
Only rich people should rule the world.
    That is Romney core belief.

If you don't want your dad called a liar- ask him to stop lying.
No candidate in history has "changed his mnd" on his stance on issues like Romney. No candidate has ever distorted his own record and that of his opponents like Romney.
Is Mitt a good guy? Probably. But he is so desparate to get elected you cannot believe a thing he says will get done.

Physically assaulting the President would not change the fact that Romney will say anything to get elected, even if it contradicts what he said the day before.

This "Romney Family" seems to have an ANGER issue. If they can't have it their way, then they resort to violence.
Their father, Mitt Romney, bully all the moderators, bullied the other Republican candidates in the primaries, and now they want to "HIT THE PRESIDENT"? This alone should make Mitt Romney disqualified for the presidency and attend Anger Management classes. Seriously!!!!

Relax young Mr. Romney. Your father already has a legacy of being a kind, caring and giving individual. When you hear lesser men attempt to tarnish him, remember that it only makes them look petty. The higher road traveled by your father leads to the better place.

Typical from a trust fund rich millionaires kid. He does not like someone and this in probably the first time things have not gone his way so he wants to resort to violence. Even though Obama never called him a "liar" he said what he was not saying simply was not true which Romney said the same of Obama. A vote for Romney is a vote to return the Bush policies that got us here and undo the policies that finally dug us out of the recession and now that we are on our way to moving back we cant change now! Give Obama 4 more years and you will see.

Yes, it must be frustrating to hear someone call your father a liar. Confirms the old adage "the truth hurts."

This is not a joke. Nothing funny here. The Romney family have no respect for the President of the United States. As a registered Republican I am completely embarassed by the attitude. Based on this atitude, I will NOT be voting for Mitt Romney. For the son to say he felt like "slapping the President" just shows the contempt in this so called Godly family. Disgusting

Does it mean you want to take a swing at your old man when you hear him lie to? I would think you would be swinging at the old man a lot more, you grew up under his lies. Just because he is a rich ......., he thinks he is better then everybody else. Think about it, you can be a better person than your old man.

haha I would love to see that lilly-white little snot try to take a tough guy routine to the wrong person someday and get his butt handed to him. Politics and lying may go hand in hand, but according to the fact checkers Romney is still leading the pack when it comes to shoveling it

Little elitest Tagg can't handle daddy being called out on his lies. The apple sure doesn't fall far from the tree. Money is abundant in the Romney household, however, class is not!

Just goes to show the total lack of respect the Romney sons have learned from their father. Just because you don't agree with a person doesn't mean you should imply or joke you want to take a swipe. If your punk daddy can't fight his own battles don't do it for him. Obama is no easy win little boy Romney. Obama may not have sons, but there is a nations of son's who will step up and stomp a mud hole in your behind if you even think you feel the least bit froggy.
