(CNN) – President Barack Obama's re-election campaign released a new television ad Friday in the crucial swing state of Ohio, highlighting Mitt Romney's opposition to the so-called auto bailouts.
The 30-second spot, "Made In Ohio," features voters whose jobs were in danger during the 2008 auto crisis.

"What was I going to do for my children? Are they going to have a home," says one woman in the ad.
The commercial highlights the auto bailout that started under President George W. Bush and carried out under Obama's administration. The federal loans are widely credited with saving the industry, which has strong roots in Ohio.
Obama's team has used the auto bailout as a main theme on the campaign trail, painting it as one of the president's signature accomplishments.
In 2008 Romney penned a New York Times op-ed titled "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" and argued for a managed bankruptcy rather than the use of government funds. Democrats frequently point to the title of the op-ed, saying Romney would have made a damaging decision for the economy.
"How you can say something like that is beyond me," one man in the ad says.
The ad ends with text displayed on the screen: "Mitt Romney. Not One Of Us."
Romney campaign spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg said in a statement, "This is a hypocritical ad designed to hide the President's failed record and lack of an agenda for a second term.
"Mitt Romney proposed the right course for the automakers – a structured bankruptcy process to allow them to emerge as sustainable and profitable enterprises. Mitt Romney has a plan to bring a real recovery that will create the environment for the auto industry to thrive," she said.
Both campaigns have aggressively targeted Ohio in recent weeks, as polls show that the Buckeye State, with its 18 electoral votes, could be a decisive factor in the presidential election.

Not like the free market system would keep going without GM and everyone would have exploded with out Obama's help, right?
So Obama followed Bush's decision to bail the auto industry, how is the auto bailout Obama's accomplishment as he has been claiming it to be????
Even the bailout was not Obama's idea, creation, anymore than was Obamacare an original idea because Romney had already created Romneycare which was the blueprint Obama used for Obamacare.
Obama is not very creative and truly he has no ideas, actions of his own, Obama just follows.
But Obama is the one who actually forced GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy, forced numerous family dealerships to close for no apparent reason, and giving a sweetheart deal to the unions, while stripping the white collar workers of most of their pensions. Great job!
using Mr. Romney's own words against him is the best offense- and given his many political positions, there are lots of words to use. "Let Detroit go Bankrupt" and his commentary from the 47% tape are the best.
It is actually funny how he says they are taken "out of context"!
Romney is going to Loose, is just a big liar who does not care about the middle class
Romney proposed the same exact CONTROLLED bankruptcy that Obama completed. The only difference Romney would not have made the unions (the very people that caused the brakruptcy) the owners of the stock in those businesses.
This should pretty much seal the deal for Obama in Ohio. And without Ohio.......Romney is just running out the clock on a failed bid.
Let's look at what really happened.
The government bailed out GM and Chrysler. They used our tax dollars to do that.
The result.......BOTH declared bankruptcy ANYWAY! Romney was entirely correct. The corporate world has the bankruptcy process to aid them in reorganizing their companies. These car makers had to declare bankruptcy anyway, and it WAS the bankruptcy process that saved them.........not the bailouts.
Basically Bush, and Obama, wasted tax payer dollars, bailing out the car companies, for no advantage, whatsoever!
Get him Mr. President! Lord knows he has flip flopped on so many issues. You have an overabundance of material to work with. Now please release one showing the Grand Dra gun, Mitch McConnell stating the republican party's number one goal was to make you a one term POTUS! Please!
Also how about one featuring the Newtster calling him a liar..... And maybe one with crazy Rick Santorum saying it's better to vote for you than Willard....
OBAMA 2012!
Obama needs to heavily remind people how many MORE people would have been laid off if GM had to go into bankruptcy without certain amount of funds. It was heavily indicated that GM (and Chrysler) probably would not have come out of bankruptcy. Therefore Ford would have been left and all those other people would have been gone along with all the supporting businesses. Wonder if that is what Romney wanted so that he/Bain Capital could have cannibalized them.
Romney is really something! On one hand, he wanted to throw a whole industry under the bus leaving thousands of people out in the cold without a job. While on the other hand, he now wants these same people to vote for him in order to get him into the White House.
Hit em hard Obama. Romney is a taker not a giver. Middle class will be gone if he is elected.......
Why not? Chapter 11 is there for that reason. It did not mean jobs would be lost or the industry would collapse but then again, this is something anyone in business knows and could easily be manipulated for votes to those unaware of what is already in place. .
That how you do it Obama save the good stuff for the last days. Don't forget that 47% video. Push that hard. That will get well over the electorate votes. Romney should not have the WH period.
Wait a second, after handing over all those Tax Payer Dollars, didn't the President "Save" GM and Chrysler by putting them through a managed bankruptcy? What is the Difference?
As far as I can tell the only difference is all those dollars GM and Chrysler still owe the US Tax Payer.
Didn't GM and Chrysler still end up going through Bankruptcy in late 2009/early 2010 anyhow?
My parents had some GM Bonds that they held for their retirement and the Federal Bankruptcy Court declared that those Bondholders who for 100+ years of Bankruptcy law precedent were now behind the claims of the Union. So,t the GM Bonds were rendered invalid/worthless and 'pop' there went 30% of my folks retirement savings. Chrysler was sold to Fiat(Italian company) and GM still owes $37billion to the nation.
I wonder what Mitt's Father would have done.
I don't think he would have said " Let Detroit go Bankrupt "..
Why didn't Mitt Romney say that when the Winter Olympics were bankrupt , because he knew the feds would bail out the games and he would profit .
Mittens has been wrong on every issue that would help Americans.
Great ad. Too bad Romney was more focused on the company's profits than the livelihood of its employees. Sad. It's funny that he thought it was okay to take federal funds to save the Olympics but not thousands of jobs in the auto industry.
The great people of Ohio believe in work and President Obama put his belief and trust in them knowing this, trust me he did his homework before bailing the auto bailout. On the other hand, Romney looked at the business aspect only and never considered the dedication of hard working Ohioians, I know because I am a native of Ohio, and we aren't victims and lazy isn't in our vocabulary. If Obama can trust working people, then we can trust Obama.
Mitt likes to take credit for Obama having put GM and Chrysler through bankruptcy, except that Mitt's plan relied on private financing to see them through it. There was no private financing. It was dried up. The banks were in crisis and weren't lending money. Government bailout was the only way to do it. If Mitt were the President, we wouldn't have a US auto industry anymore.
Why is it that we tend to follow those that yell the loudes and yet have nothing to say. When can a man that uses the feelings of older persons as to scare them from seeing the real truth without saying a thing. Romney says nothing proves nothing and yet people believe his shouting of terrible things to come. Elect this man and all fears and all the shout ing will go silent as Romney will do nothing for us the middle class the older class.
Lee Iacocca endorses Romney!!
I am disappointing with cnn news media specially when hiring these two individuals Erin Bernet, Jessica . they are more leaning toward the right winger I think they should be remove from cnn news staffs they belong to FoX news media
The CNN fact checkers need to be fact checked themselves. At the end of the Biden/Ryan debate, CNN fact checker concluded that Biden's statement that Romney wanted the auto industry to go bankrupt was false. The fact is that Romney opposed using government funds to help the auto go through a managed bankruptcy. Many analysts believed that the auto industry would not have survived if it had relied on private investment for rescue. It's an issue that will continue to dogg Romney in Ohio and Michigan, where numerous auto parts suppliers benefited from the survival of the Detroit Three automakers. Biden 's statement was not false, CNN fact Checker.
