DSCC's record 3Q fund-raising

(CNN) – The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee announced Friday it had its best third quarter fund-raising in the history of the committee.

The organization in charge of electing Democrats to the Senate said it raised $29.2 million from July 1 through September 30.

(CNN) – The latest television spot from Mitt Romney's campaign features the GOP candidate speaking at the first presidential debate about his commitment to working with Democrats.

The spot splices together bits of Romney's answer to a question about how he would work with members of the other party to advance important legislation.

Women are back on the job

New York (CNNMoney) - Women are finding their way back into the workforce.

The economic upswing had until recently been a "hecovery," but the revival is now becoming more balanced between the genders. The number of women employees has jumped by 300,000 in the past six months, nearly the same amount as men. And in September, men and women each saw a job gain of 57,000.

Ohio Senate candidate levels 'liar' charge at debate

(CNN) – One of the nation's most bitterly fought U.S. Senate races – the battle in Ohio between incumbent Democratic Sen. Sherrod Brown and Republican state treasurer Josh Mandel - devolved into the GOP candidate calling his rival a liar at a debate Thursday.

Mandel was responding to charges from Brown that he skipped meetings as treasurer, and was attempting to skip rungs on the political ladder.

Obama campaign sets single day fundraising record

(CNN) – It seems an energetic debate performance can generate big bucks.

The Obama campaign confirms that they had their single biggest day of fundraising on Wednesday, the day after the town-hall style presidential debate. The record includes not just the current campaign but also the 2008 presidential cycle.

GOP candidate says 'life' exception 'a tool for abortions'

(CNN) – Rep. Joe Walsh, a Republican engaged in a heated battle for re-election in Illinois against Iraq war veteran Tammy Duckworth, questioned Thursday the necessity of allowing abortions if a mother's life is at risk, saying such an exemption to an abortion ban was simply a tool by pro-choice activists.

Speaking after a debate with his opponent, Walsh seemed to suggest medical advances made dangerous pregnancies rare.

On the Trail: October 19, 2012

(CNN) - Both candidates are back on the trail Friday - Mitt Romney holds an evening rally with his running mate Paul Ryan in Florida, and President Obama holds an early rally in Virginia.

Joe Biden will hold two events in Florida, and Michelle Obama holds a pair of rallies in Wisconsin. Bill Clinton also campaigns in Wisconsin.
