(CNN) - New polls of the two largest battlegrounds in the race for the White House show a close contest following the second presidential debate.
In Florida, where there are 29 electoral votes, 48% of likely voters said they back GOP challenger Mitt Romney, and 45% said they support President Barack Obama, according to a Fox News poll of likely voters. Those results are in line with Friday's CNN/ORC International poll of likely Florida voters.

The CNN poll found 49% of likely voters in the Sunshine State backed Romney and 48% backed Obama.
The differences between the candidates in both polls are within the sampling errors.
Likely voters in Ohio split similarly between the two candidates, with 46% backing Obama and 43% supporting Romney, the Fox poll showed. Throughout the fall and summer, polls in the Buckeye State have showed a tight race, some with a slight advantage for Obama. Ohio has 18 electoral votes.
Obama has slipped among independents in both states, the poll showed.
In Florida, Romney's favorability stands at 55%, and in Ohio, 48% view him favorably. Obama's favorability is 53% in Ohio and 51% in Florida, according to the Fox poll.
A CNN poll found that two out of three debate watchers said Romney won the first debate, but the second debate, held October 16, was a draw.
The Fox News polls were conducted on October 17 and 18. Included were 1,130 likely voters in Florida and 1,131 likely voters in Ohio contacted by telephone. The sampling error in each state is plus or minus three percentage points.
The third and final debate between the two candidates will take place in Florida on Monday.

No post debate bounce for O. Things looking good for R and the momentum will likely continue. O spent hundreds of millions to paint R as the devil, but during debates they see someone else. In addition, R just now outspending O in tv ads in battleground states...a very significant development.
Looks line Ex-Gov Romney will win the election. He says he will work with both sides of the aisle. Well, we Democrats have a little surprise for him. After 4 years of GOP stonewalling everything Pres Obama proposed ... it's payback time!
How can the second debate be considered a draw when Obama got well over 6% more people stating he won (an even wider spread occurred in the CBS Poll) and secondly...all people talked about was Romney's binders of women and his stance on women issues..all in a BAD way!!!! those facts together would indicate Romney CLEARLY lost the second debate and cam eout of it weaker than going into it. CNN wants to paint the image of a draw purely for their own interests..... polls from FOX news..like they are credible??????
US politics is sickening...a 2 year affair that spends millions of dollars on wasted commercials and silly TV programs...use the money to feed your poor instead....CRAZY...we in Canada just laugh at the craziness of it all.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012.....from Pinellas county Florida
The Romney tsunami is starting to form, and will wash clean the current Administration on November 6th. America will soar to great heights under the skilled leadership of President Romney. Welcome this blessed change for the better!
Too much evidence points to the fact that obama has too much difficulty working across party lines. He promised transparency, but the subject on benghazi alone illustrates clearly that his administration isn't very honest with the american people.
Yes! We'll finally get rid of that Kenyan, Muslim, @$#$#, guy! He's ruined this country. We need to get back to the Bush basics and Romney's just the guy to do it. Obama is NOT a legitimate president! He wasn't even born in the country. Bin Laden isn't really dead! Look at all the attacks on our nation since Bo took office. Be afraid people BUT be hopeful because Mittens will protect you, your medicare AND your Social Security.
Why is it that I'm never asked my opinion in these polls ? Whatever. I'll give MY opinion on November 6, and I won't need Candy Crowley to run interference for me, or tell me what to think, or.............................
If they let Romney keep talking, he'll talk his way right out of this election.
From what I observed, Romney, reversed a lot of his ideas again, to say what the voters wanted to hear from, to get out the vote. None of what I heard had any substance. It was just ideal BS, to just get into the Whitehouse. After that the
American, people will see the REAL Romney, and he will not be representing the working class. In fact he will be taking away from the middle class to pay for his wars. You, can see that already happening, when he blames Obama, for the way he handles, the various wars that pop up in the middle east, in which he has no control over, or the money to engage in another war. The Republicans, have got America. into every war, sense the 2nd world war. That war was one that the whole world was threatened by. I don't think that Obama, is a war monger. I feel that he really wants to engage, the biggest enemy we face presently. The economy. That is the biggest threat to our national security. I feel
that, if the Federal Reserve, turns loose all that counterfeit money it has been printing, that it will cause the worst financial crises, we have ever experienced. no matter who the president is. SO, its a matter of picking your poison.
is the united states of america a huge family needing work, education, protection, health care or is the usa a big business which prefers to eliminate those that do not make the cut OR is the usa a huge military that only looks for a strong fearless leader to defend the hill??? your leaning will most likely influence your vote. OBAMA 2012...he get's it. we're a family..warts and all.
Close race. Could end in a tie if Obama wins Wisconsin, Virginia and Colorado, and Romney wins the other swing states. We could have a President Romney and Vice-President Biden, if the House and Senate stay as they are.
Here's the Republican strategy: Lie fast, lie often, and lie loud.
It's just like these large spam organizations. They know that there is a certain percentage of the pestering emails that they send out will generate results, and they know that the percentage is very low. However, it becomes very profitable when they blast spam out quickly and to a lot of receivers.
"The Fox News polls...."
Come on! You should have started with that!!!
The only place that Obama has a lead is Wash DC. Gimmecrats beware, the party is over.
This just shows that every vote matters. If your candidate doesn't win and you don't vote, you have no voice of complaint.
Here's my Prediction: Obama would win the election, but Romney and his followers would take it to the supreme court. There, he will still wins. You can not denied the fact that most Americans don't wants another Republican in the WHITE HOUSE. Even thou some are making this election a race matters but young Americans wants to move beyond the 60's and civil right days. This is not the 60's but reality and hope for America.
According to the averages of many state polls, Romney has a one point lead in Florida and Obama has close to a four point lead in Ohio.
This is what you will get with Romney/Ryan.
You are 70 years old and have your voucher in hand. You call an insurance company to buy your private insurance. When the person at the insurance company stops laughing, they tell you that they will get back to you.
But some of you Seniors are thinking, I'm already 70, Romney said that this won't affect me..Let the next generation deal with it. I'm voting for Romney.
Obama will win. Even if he loses Florida, he'll still win Ohio. Mitt can't win without Ohio. I do think, after Obama's extremely strong win the the last debate, he may well tip Florida, as well. "Romneisia" says it all–either Mitt has a very selective memory or he's a complete stranger to the truth.
Romney is a dangerous, uncaring man! Women, elderly, the working class, the 47%, the military, minorities, if you want someone to destroy everything your fought for elect ROBME but remember even his wife is afraid of his mental well being if he is elected... THINK and vote for what is right for you and this country. OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
