Biden: 'We are seeing the remaking of Mitt Romney'

Canton, Ohio (CNN) - Apparently "Etch-a-Sketch" is the campaign gift that keeps on giving.

Nearly seven months after the children's toy entered the 2012 political lexicon, Vice President Joe Biden has continued to use the line on the stump - often with a fresh shake.

Watch CNN's coverage of Monday's third and final presidential debate starting at 7 p.m. ET on CNN TV, CNN.com and via CNN's apps for iPhone, iPad and Android. Case in point: as Biden campaigned in Ohio Monday, he referenced a claim first leveled by President Obama - that Romney's $5 trillion tax plan amounts to a "sketchy deal."

"As vice president, it's not my job, nor am I inclined to correct the president," Biden joked. "But in this case I am. [Romney's] plans aren't sketchy - they're Etch-a-Sketchy."

And then, Biden added a biting twist.

"They're like shaking that little tablet out there. It's underway guys. We are seeing the remaking of Mitt Romney right before our eyes."

The vice president leveled the charge in front of a crowd of nearly 900 people in Canton. The event was his first of five events over three days in the Buckeye State – a critical battleground. During one of the appearances, on Tuesday, Biden will make a rare, joint campaign appearance with the president in Dayton.

Although the Obama campaign has recently claimed Romney's economic plan is not mathematically possible, the Romney campaign has argued that it is.

"It is mathematically possible," Romney running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan, said in his debate with Biden, echoing similar sentiments from Romney.

The Romney campaign has also repeatedly denied that Romney is recasting himself and has said the candidate has been consistent in his positions.

The list for Obama's inconsistencies would be much longer and that's just if we count the death of Ambassador Stevens. Obama is a shameless, narcissistic, incompetent fool. His vice president is a slow-witted closet racist. The Democratic Party's worst mistake was in allowing him a chance at a second term instead of someone much more capable and deserving like Hillary Clinton. I mailed in my ballot for Romney. I chose the lesser of two evils.

Hey Joe – Hate to be a bearer of bad tidings, but Robme HAS to move to the Middle – or else he's history. And even a little bit to the left, and since he changes so much – IF ( and I repeat, IF ) he makes it , he will end up catering to whomever groups or lobbyists that is in front of him, at the time. I mean, this guy will do anything, or say anything to get votes, period. LOL – – Makes the Voters wonder how will the GOP EVER , and I mean Ever get elected Again, (and I really mean ever) The GOP had better move to the middle within the next 4 years, when it's time for their primaries again, otherwise, we will end up getting a Democrat, or somebody like Romney, who will say that they are conservative, but are really Not.

May the Best Man Win – – 2012
    Hillary – 2016 ( with a "surplus" in – 2018 )

Now why is it that.....Romney is talking about the issues and Biden and Obama iare talking about Romney. The tiny surpless that was left in the Clinton Adminstration was a result of the Republician Congress holding Clinton to the fire.

You don't like the Economy? It was the Liberal's that gave it too us. Obama has no plan to fix anything but tax the so-called rich. With no one hiring until Obama Care is repealed the tax base will continue to flounder. But hey, it's your vote! Let's see how it all works out if Whats-His-Name is Re-Elected..

"In the Obama/Biden world...............the only thing that makes sense is to raise taxes". You forgot to add on the rich.
Apparently the same is true in the Ben Stein world – "We have to raise taxes (on the wealthy), there is no way
    around it".
He is, of course, one of the darlings of Faux News, and the Three Stooges were shocked, I say, shocked.

You are correct Mr. Vice President. The twit has changed more than a chameleon in the last decade Nd since 1994 when he was pro choice then he wasn't and then he was and now he isn't. He was anti NRA and now he isn't.
I don't know what's scarier that this guy doesn't know what he will say or think from one day to another or that he could be our next president and take the country to he11 because if you thought the shrub #43 was a war criminal this self appointed king of Kolob who thinks he is worthy of the presidency is 100 times worse.
I get you $10k if I had it. Must be pocket change for him and his $100 bills.

Romney's mitting and twitting, and etching & sketching in foreign affairs and military affairs could bring back the cold war syndrome to Americans & the World at large. Romney/Ryan criticism of the great work done in foreign and military affairs by Obama and his team is shallow, parochial, and selfishly politically partisan. For Romney/Ryan the means justify the ends. They see only negatives no positives. We are sick of their negativity, distortions and untruth in our domestic, military and international affairs.

A "re-make" or a "re-model" ultimately ends and a final product is revealled. The problem with (and for) Mr. Romney is the process never ends. He's for some abortions and then he's against them, then for them again; he's for tax cuts to the rich, then against them, then for them again; he's for bombing Iran, then not, then again, and so on, over and over. As a candidate he's got all positions and none all at once. This is a man with no core, none whatsoever. More fightening is that his supporters JUST DON'T CARE- they want to win and it doesn't matter that their guy is a total narcsistic flake. He has no plans, he just "wants" to be President.

  13. to dumb republicans

its very interesting to see how dumb you guys are .. you think by having Romney your country will be in better shape? the same men who said 47% are takers and doesnt matter- i guess both Borderless and Hussain Obama are the 5% of Romney clan (aka rich people) or unless your using foodstamps and unemployment money.. which one? i know for sure you are NOT the 5% Romney clan.. so buckle up and wait for a disaster to happen. which is coming with Romney. You are going to have a constant lie from Romney and Ryan. i guess you are also those liars... who constantly lie about everything.. good job.. keep it up and will see a better america ( uneducated, stupid, dumb like you both).

Borderless, the only inconsistencies the republicans have found thus far is Obama's stance on gay marriage. The rest is the usual conservative talking points that can be found on many websites that promote the conservative agenda.

However, Romney's inconsistencies are not the product of liberal talking points. Rather, they are a collection of Romney's statements made thru the years. Romney will hardly ever admit to having a difference in opinion. He states that he was always one way or the other and completely disavows the previous statement.

And I guess on Conservative Island, "put y'all back in chains" is somehow worse than "black folks need to stop looking of a check and start looking for a job".

    Not even a nice try.....

Romney needs "your children" to go to war in Iran, while his children sit on the sidelines at home and watch.

    Four and The Door-
When in doubt, repeat the lie, eh?

The economy has grown; the market is almost back to where it was when the "Bush Crash" occurred; 5 million jobs created; more new construction; more exports.

Sure for you guys, a terrible economy might make your sorry candidate look better, but seeing as all he wants to do is go back to the Bush days and slather the rich with more tax cuts, things would have to be worse on a grander scale.

Your guy starts with an additional $7 trillion deficit that he simply cannot get away from- but hey, give him a few minutes and he'll say something else!

I've been calling it kaleidoscoping for years. The new term, born in 2012, is called Etch A Sketch. I think the latter is more fitting for Romney as it is suggestive of a sudden, drastic change, instead of a slow gradual one.

  21. truth hurts

And with two weeks left before the election, Obama STILL hasn't stated what his plans are for a second term. NO plans, no solutions, just attacks and demonization. Come to think of it, that was his entire first term as well. He just carried it into his campaign.

Four more years of this dangerous and lawless President and this country will be well on its way to becoming a Banana Republic dictatorship.

I'll take a serious Romney/Ryan ticket before laughing boy Biden any day. The very fact that Obama chose him shows how pitiful and weak a leader Obama is. Now with the coverup in Benghazi this little celebrity endeavor is ended. Oabam has done nothing for the economy, he's over-regulated anywhere he could not Congress to legislate in his favor, and now his house-of-cards foreign policy is crumbling. The fact that Castro, Putin, and Chavez have all endorsed Obama for President should tell us something.
