McCain: Obama should own 'abject failure' in Middle East

Boca Raton, Florida (CNN) – Sen. John McCain of Arizona, a top surrogate for Mitt Romney, unleashed some strong words against President Barack Obama on Monday, hours before the presidential candidates face off in their final debate.

Asked if Romney should give Obama credit for the killing of Osama bin Laden, McCain said he believes all American credit the president with the raid but added Obama should also take responsibility for "the abject failure throughout the Middle East."

Romney debate strategy: Why a CEO makes a good commander in chief

Washington (CNN) - Mitt Romney is planning to shed the scrappy in-your-face debate strategy from last week's town hall and replace it Monday night with a calmer demeanor - someone voters can imagine as commander-in-chief, CNN has learned.

"I don't think this is necessarily a debate where you're going to see point-for-point scoring," Romney adviser Dan Senor told CNN.

Ohio Poll of Polls shows tight race

(CNN) - The latest collection of polls in Ohio shows a razor thin margin between President Barack Obama and his rival Mitt Romney in the key battleground two weeks ahead of the November 6 election.

The CNN Poll of Polls shows Obama at 48% and Romney at 45% in Ohio, which carries 18 electoral votes. Those numbers are an average of three Ohio polls of likely voters conducted after the second presidential debate: Quinnipiac University/CBS News (October 17-20); Suffolk University (Oct. 18-21) and Fox News (Oct. 17-18). The Poll of Polls does not have a sampling error.

Obama administration: Iran talks preferable to war

(CNN) - Expect President Barack Obama to use the final presidential debate Monday night to question how Governor Mitt Romney would handle foreign policy differently than his administration has and prod him over whether he would keep the country in "endless" war.

According to Obama aides, look for the president to press Romney to explain whether he'd quickly enter into a military conflict with Iran, invest U.S. resources in Syria and keep U.S. troops in Afghanistan indefinitely.

(CNN) – In the final two weeks before Election Day, the presidential race is coming down to just a few states–with Ohio as perhaps the most contested battleground.

For Mitt Romney, the Buckeye State may be even more crucial, as no Republican has ever won the White House without carrying Ohio.
