Down to the wire: Campaign enters stretch run

Boca Raton, Florida (CNN) - A dramatic new consensus has taken hold inside the campaigns of President Obama and Mitt Romney, one that was unthinkable just a few weeks ago: Americans will wake up on Election Day not knowing who their next president will be.

Polls have tightened, with trend lines in several key states favoring Romney, and Monday's foreign policy debate in Florida doing little to radically alter the shape of the race.

CNN: selling narratives before there's even been any poll results.

I couldn't believe Romney when the moderator asked him a question about his plan and Romney told him to go to his website. After that Obama pressured him more and that's when Romney accused President Obama of attacking him, there was no attack by the President to force Romney to agree with everything he said. Bipartianship doesn't mean you agree with everything and Romney clearly isn't the bipartianson person he claims to be, he's a follower and not prepared to be a leader.

The Obama team insists it always knew the contest was going to tighten in its final stage, though it's commonly acknowledged among Democrats that the president's dismal first debate showing was a colossal self-inflicted wound.
    ________________________________________________________________________________________________
The entire Obama Administration was a colossal self-inflicted wound. The first debate was his first confrontation with reality. He is accountable. This will be one of the messages from voters next month. Accountability. The other? We have a better choice, a team with a plan, the capabilities to make that plan work and a willingness to put national interests over political party interests. Romney/ Ryan 2012.

    "a team with a plan"

...of which they refuse to divulge any details

"the capabilities to make that plan work"

Likely control of the House by a GOP majority that will suddenly and magically become "reasonable" about passing jobs legislation containing the same policies they've demagogued when it was Obama proposing them (watch carefully, beacuse this is exactly what will happen if Mittens wins)

"and a willingness to put national interests over political party interests."

OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY IS TO MAKE HIM A ONE TERM PRESIDENT.

Four- How does one debate an individual who continually either lies, or simply changes their position? That's like debating someone with a mental illness- it doesn't work. Mr. Romney HAS no base of reality. He will say, or do anything to get elected.

Change the name in the statement above to Obama and you have a very nice summary of Obama's last four years.

    1. Debating a shape shifter like Romney is akin to nailing jello to the wall.
    2. When is CNN (and the media, excluding Fox "News", which is just a a wholly owned subsidiary of the Republican Party) going to stop insulting the American intelligence with its attempts to make this race look 'close', just to keep their ratings up?

And since Ohio has been voting for 3 weeks, it should be an interesting final lap.

P.S. Let this old Southern white translate the 1930's GOP echo chamber as regards to President O "condescension" in last night's debate: "How dare that uppity n-word talk to a white man like that"!

How in the heck can someone rise in the polls when EVERYBODY and their mama knows he is telling barefaced lies??? Say whatever you want but the majority of white America is afraid of having a descendant of former slaves in the White House. Oh they will NEVER admit it but whites have long feared blacks having anything, especially education and power.

    OBAMA 2012!

Mitt could be a cross between Lucifer and Adolf, and many would still pick him. Between this, the voter suppression, and the machines owned by Tagg, Willard has this election in the bag. No wonder he kept saying when I'm president...........

@GOP, THANK YOU! I would love to shake your hand! I could see the word dancing around Willards brain through the entire debate!

Right, which is why millions of white people voted to put Obama in office in 2008. Get a grip on reality.

And it is statements like your first sentence that have turned a LOT of people against Obama. They are sick an dtired of being called names like this simply because they don't think Obama is up to the task and has proven it after 4 years.

But it is nice to see you are starting to accept the reality of Obama's defeat and readying the standard Democrat excuses. Delusion is a ket element of being a Democrat these days. Reality just isn't very good given the last 4 years of Obama failures.

Also weren't the polls wrong just a week ago when President Obama was pulling ahead??? But now they are right when Willard the pathological liar, lies even more???

I guess this PROVES the media, especially not cnn, is in the bag for President Obama. Sorry rethugs, that's one parrot talking point you lose.

CNN is as much in the bag for President Obama as Fox is......

"Polls have tightened, with trend lines in several key states favoring Romney, and Monday's foreign policy debate in Florida doing little to radically alter the shape of the race."

Well ... so says the Mitt Romney camp. Then again, they are also claiming that Mitt Romney made a real effort in chosing to become a stumbling fool during the debate last night. Apparently he "won" the debate by a rather backhanded approach of determining ahead of time to become as confused as any candidate I've ever seen debate.

I myself don't see where Romney is winning anything beyond media adoration. I also don't see Syria quite the same way as Romney does. Least of all it's borders.

  17. Nat 4 Obama

The media has to report a close election, so they can keep ratings. This is the bottom line if you want to to vote for Romney because he serves your family ideology and intrest do so, but I believe most people that want Romney isn't because he is better than President Obama. Obama is smarty, calmer and wiser then Romney. Poor people have no business voting for Romney, if you were apart of the car bailout why would you vote for Romney? America be honest why is the race so close? The dirty little word RACISM.

I'm going to try Monday night debate quarterbacking by suggesting that:

    A. Mitt Romney promised the media a last debate blowout against Obama. Thus, they elevated his polls numbers in anticipation of this final debate.

    B. Mitt Romney delivered a last debate meltdown against himself. Thus the media now has to justify their elevated poll numbers.

The question remains: who looks more confused ... the MSM media or Mitt Romney?

    [ I'm guessing both ]

Unlike the Obama Administration, a Romney Administration will work with Congress on which deductions in particular are eliminated or reduced to pay for the tax cuts for 100% of working Americans. Obama could not pull this off. So his response? " Lies! All lies I tell you!!! The numbers don't work! Lies!!!". Not very convincing. And not very elegant a response from a sitting President. I am sure he is frustrated. So are we. Romney/ Ryan 2012.

I'm being serious here when I ask those supporting Romney, how do you know which Romney you are supporting?
Last night he became the 'I agree with the President" Romney, in fact, he almost declared himself to be a
pacifist. This while he surrounds himself with the most radical neo-con hawks that he could find: Bolton,
Senor, McCain and Netanyahu (he said he would listen to Bibi on middle east foreign policy planning).
He is the great pretender every time he shows up, whether its a debate, a fund-raising speech, or at a rally.
He says one thing to the millionairs, then walks it back.
He says another thing to us common folk, then claims that is what he has said all along.
He says his $5T tax cut "adds up", but can't tell us how,
Which Romney are you so enamoured with? I don't get it.
