Obama makes pitch in new ad, reiterates plan for second term

(CNN) - While he made a closing statement on Monday night's debate stage, President Barack Obama made another argument in a new 60-second television ad, released just hours after his final showdown with Republican nominee Mitt Romney.

In the spot, Obama looks directly at the camera and makes his case for another four years. The ad is part of what the campaign calls a "full-scale, multiplatform organizational effort" that includes direct mail and the distribution of a booklet that lists the president's four-year plan.

"There's just no quit in America, and you're seeing that right now," he says in the ad, touting recovered job number and a rise in exports as well as home values. He also highlights the auto industry comeback and the return of some U.S. troops from overseas.

But the president says there is more work to be done. "We're not there yet, but we've made real progress and the last thing we should do is turn back now."

He continues to outline his goals for a second term, including education and training reform, increased manufacturing, more domestic energy, deficit reduction, and ending the war in Afghanistan.

The new effort follows criticism that Obama has yet to lay out specifics for his next for years. The 19-page booklet that supplements the ad goes into detail of the president's accomplishments in his first term, but maintains the same level of specificity that he has mentioned before, according to a review of the printed plan.

The campaign plans to roll out 3.5 million printed copies of the glossy booklet, and 1.5 million copies will be sent to field offices for distribution. Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and campaign surrogates will hold up the plan at events and urge supporters to share the plan with other voters in the final two weeks of the race.

As for the new ad, the campaign said the commercial will run in the battleground states of New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, Nevada, and Colorado.

Mitt Romney's team responded to the ad campaign, saying the president's ideas are not "new."

“President Obama is offering no new ideas and his failed policies will lead to four more years just like the last four years," Romney spokeswoman Amanda Henneberg said in a statement. "The President is just doubling down on the same policies that have led to a stagnant economy, greater government dependency, and trillion dollar deficits. Mitt Romney has a Plan for a Stronger Middle Class that will create 12 million new jobs, lift people out of poverty, and deliver a real recovery to the American people.”

- CNN's Jessica Yellin and Kevin Bohn contributed to this report.

There is what the president wants to do in his next four years, don't sit there and say he doesn't tell people what he wants to do. Can anyone tell me what Romney wants to do. He says he can balance a budget. How?? He says he can create 12 million jobs. How??? Sorry but I don't want to go back to the bush years. Remember Ohio who helped save the auto industry, Obama did, not Romney. Romney wanted to let the auto industry go bankrupt. Make the right choice and give the president another four years. I know I am!!

The "DEBATES" should continue on TV with Romney debating Romney.

The Democrats should run commercials using VIDEO of Romney taking alternate side positions on various issues. Abortion, Afgahnistan, Contraception, China, Libya, everything they can find. Each ad should end with the tagline, "How can you have confidence in ANYTHING Mitt Romney says when He`ll say ANYTHING to fool you into voting for him?"

    This would be devestating.

How can Obama be declared the debate winner-on lies? Several lies already proven by fact checkers. He also needs to get off the comedy shows tour. He is not the least bit funny. Bumps in the road-not funny. American deaths not optimal-not funny. What has happend to press conferences? Americans are so in the dark with this guy. He doesn't have to answer questions, or balance a budget, or work with congress, or attend nat'l security meetings, abuse executive orders, etc. No wonder this administration is so confused and doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing? No leadership. Period.

Great Job Prez. You did us proud during the last debate. Romney has flipped on every issue and now wants us to believe that he is no longer "severely conservative". Go vote people and help us to re-elect president Obama.

Just remember the private sector is doing just fine that's why we have 23 million people out of work on as Obama would say you didn't build it and we will just make up the jobs by expanding the government like the last four years.

It's sad to here people say we are getting money from the government so don't worry stupid that's my tax dollars you must be one of the people who pay no taxes.

I like that the President called Willard out on his investments in CNOOC. How can you stand up tough against China when you're investing your money in a company that is working against the U.S. interests? The President should have brought uf BAINport last night as well. There is alot of damning these he can use against Willard.

I thought Obama won the debate. You could see his debate team prepared him well. I thought the Highlight of the debate was where Obama Lectured Romney of how the Military works. The fact that we have Ships that operate on the water and the fact that we have Ships that operate under the water. That we have ships that planes take off from and land on. Aircraft Carriers I think he called them. And the fact that we no longer use Horses or Bayonets. Or Army Mules for that matter. That said we need Obama for another term, otherwise we may go back to Army Mules. I'm sure Obama stayed up nights working on the military part.

Give it up. Trying to sway voters this late in the election with false talking points is redundant. Coming to CNN with FOX NEWS propaganda isn't going to work. There is a reason why most CNN viewers will never watch FOX. That's not to confuse the issue that they don't know a Republican operative when they see one. You guys have been all over the news media for days now. If anything, that in itself reeks of desperation.

Hmm, you do know no one EVER BUILT A BUSINESS BY THEMSELVES! Not unless they supplied their own capital, did all the labor, and then most importantly bought their own product. Hard to build a business when nobody but yourself is the consumer, right?!

Mr. President, take a look at Europe, take a look at even our own state of Cailifornia. Your social justice agenda will not work. Europe is a excellent preview of what would happen with this country should you be given 4 more years. Be grateful that you got this opportunity. We need a serious leader, one who knows what he is doing with the economy. Enjoy your family and leave the responsibility of fixing this country to those who know how to do it and want to do it. They won't blame this on you, they are not like that.

Broken promises is your legacy Mr. President, along with distortions and fabrications , only in your minds eye, do you think you are the greatest. You have buried the middleclass, you have slapped American women in the face, by believing that only abortions and contraceptives are alll they think about. Your lagacy will state that you are the spending President on our grandchildrens, childrens money.

In the debate last night, Mitt Romney talked about the dynamics of the Middle East, China and Iran. He talked about broad strategies to address these issues and the importance of working in a bipartisan way to control federal spending and help the private sector create 12 million jobs. Obama talked about Mitt Romney. Obama gave more excuses for his foreign policy than any strategy or plan forward. Mitt Romney was calm, in control and factual. Obama was combative, nervous and stuttered a lot. Several times his ideas seemed to escape him. Mitt Romney won the debate and Mitt Romney will win the election. Head-to-head, no matter how much money Obama/ Biden 2012 spends, the answer is simple. Romney/ Ryan 2012.

You got that right Mr. President, and there's no quit and a lot of fight in YOU!!!
You did us proud last night. You were masterful in full command of not only the facts but also Romney's Romnesia!
You quoted Romney so much on the crap that he's been saying and flip-flopping on these past few months alone, that the man felt that you were personally attacking him!
Imagine that, feeling like you're being ATTACKED because someone is QUOTING you.
Pathetic perfomance by Romney again last night.
The PRESIDENT showed up and all Romney could do was agree and SWEAT.

In the third debate, Obama came accross as smug, pompous, arrogant, and sarcastic ... Romney came accross as Presidential.
The numerous failed Obama green energy companies ... which squandered hundreds of millions of hard earned American tax payer dollars ... while making Obama's cronies / contributors rich ... purchased their solar panels from China, resulting in even more American jobs going over seas. Save America ... Romney / Ryan 2012
