New York (CNNMoney) - Mitt Romney made Big Bird the symbol of his fight against government spending. And the company licensed to sell Big Bird Halloween costumes couldn't be more pleased.
"This has absolutely become our biggest year ever for Big Bird costumes," said Maddie Gerety, brand manager at Disguise, a unit of toymaker Jakks Pacific. "If only we had a crystal ball to predict this was going to happen."
Thanks, Big Bird. Like Mitt, I like Big Bird. Yet, the costumes are made in CHINA.
Awesome. With the proceeds that PBS made from the royalties off the sales, they won't be needing federal assistance anymore. Romney's not even president yet and he's helping the economy more than President Hollywood.
This just proves that you cannot mess with Sesame Street and more importantly Big Bird! Get used to it folks because this is just the tip of the ice berg. A Romney administration will be cutting out domestic spending including money for PBS, the National Endowment for the Arts, Head Start, federal programs which help students in disadvantaged areas, the Dept. of Education, etc. All the initiatives that have been put in place to help children who are not succeeding in school will be gone.
When you elect someone who does not support the Arts then the problems begin. Just when an administration is demonstrating a love for and strong support for the Arts including music, there will be an upheaval should Romney get elected. He did nothing for the Arts during the short time he actually was in MA playing Governor. It is hard to understand how people are ignoring those facts.
Mr. Romney is playing good cop right now as those big PACs and the Republican Party play bad cop. These ads do the lying for him. Yet even when the public says enough, Mr. Romney says nothing because these PACs are being financed by those who will have influence on him.
I hope all of you out there understand Big Bird makes over $300,000 a year and laughing all the way to the bank their CEO makes $650,000 a year and we as tax payers gave them $444.1 million last year.
Now who is laughing talk about waste in spending our tax dollars.
