Ryan likens Obama plan to 'slick new brochure'

Bristol, Virginia (CNN) - Mitt Romney running mate Paul Ryan likened President Barack Obama's 19-page second-term plan to a brochure at a Virginia rally and called it a "slick repackaging of more of the same" at a Virginia rally.

"You know President Obama hasn't really given us a vision for a second term agenda," he said. "Just a couple of days ago he came up with a slick new brochure. You know, with less than two weeks left to say, 'Oh I do actually have an agenda.'"

The Republican vice presidential nominee was campaigning in Bristol when he criticized Obama for releasing a plan his re-election team compiled in a booklet so close to Election Day

As Ryan continued to mock the plan a man in the crowd interjected with his own description.

"It is a slick – well, comic book, that was his word – to me a slick re-packaging of more of the same," Ryan said.

On Tuesday, Obama's re-election team released 19 pages outlining the plans he hopes to institute if he wins a second term in office and an accompanying television ad set to air in nine battleground states. The booklet is largely a rehash of policies previously proposed, but is a response to critics who have charged the president with offering few specifics on his second term agenda.

When Ryan hammered the president on the economy he did not mention the nation's unemployment rate dipped below 8% last month for the first time in 42 months but instead pointed to slow job growth.

"You see, where we are today is our economy is barely limping along. It is slower than it was last year. Last year was slower than the year before. Job growth in September was slower than August and August was slower than July," he said at the outdoor rally that drew a crowd of more than 1,000.

In the heart of Virginia coal country the Wisconsin lawmaker and vice presidential hopeful called attention to people in the audience who were wearing blue hats that said "COAL JOBS" when he delivered his pitch on energy.

"I see all these coal hats out here," Ryan said. "We in Wisconsin we use coal, it keeps our electricity rates down, it keeps our businesses operating. You produce coal, it keeps good families supporting wages and jobs and this war on coal is going to end when we elect Mitt Romney the next President of the United States, I can guarantee you that."

At least it is an agenda. All we have from Mr. Romney and Mr. Romney is a 5 point plan with no explanations. We also hear that Mr. Romney knows how to get jobs. I really wonder how since his experience has been with corporate merges and corporate take-overs where the work force is cut and people loss their jobs, health insurance, and seniority.

He did not do a very good job for MA and he has not said how he will do this. Would I trust him – no, because he has not given us answers. Now would be a good time to release some more tax returns. I really believe he needs to show us how he earned money over the last 8 or 9 years when, by his own admission, he did not have a real job.

Slick Packaging this is Funny, they have rebranded themselves from War Hawks to peace Makers, Tax Cuts for the Rich to not, these guys will tell you what you want to hear not what they plan to do. Obamas been saying the same thing since 2008 and he had the guts to say he would tax income above 250k these guys will do worse on the tax front to give thier Million Dollar donors ROI. The worst part is four years of this is horrible, proven liars, shameless and I think this country has to much class to let them lie and decieve thier way into the white hosue

Erin Burnett had a copy of the pamphlet on her show last night and grilled Barbara Boxer about the details. Not only did the numbers not even come close to adding up, but he was saying he was talking about doing stuff that is already done. No wonder he waited until now to publish. It does not stand up to even the simplest scrutiny. Just like his Administration's record. As they say in Texas, "All hat and No cattle".

With all due respect, "shut, U.." Your and Romney's plan don't even add up together. Obama's plan is comprehensives. Maths are there and are for building a future America not just next year but 10 years from now. Your plan does not even have a clear position on women's equal right, you want to de-fund plan parenthood who is essential to the healthcare of many women in this country and provide access to mamo gram, reproductive cares. You support idiots like Akin, Walsh, Murdock who wants to take away women's right to abortion. We don't trust you Mr. Ryan or your running mate who changes his position on every issue. You just don't have enough backbone for me to be vice president.

    And your plan is?

Romney/Ryan 2012: We cannot carry our own home states, but vote for us anyway.

(By the way, Romney left a huge deficit in Massachusetts)

talk about hypocrisy – they have a 5 point plan that is really a one point paln – nothing specific from these two idiots!!!

Obama takes his time and condenses his plans that have been discussed for a while into a booklet – then these same plans – are bineg held up by the do nothing GOP'ers –

I iwll give them credit for Brass.... nothign else though.

R and R's have a "slick new package" with a surprise but guess what that surprise is a joke on Americans, that's why they're not telling us.

Remember: We've had 30 months of job growth since the crash - slow growth, yes, but growth just the same. When Romney and Ryan promise to turn that around I am inclined to believe them. Thought the economy was bad after Bush's tax cuts and all the lame ways he tried to hide the problems with the economy and steer tax dollars to his buddies? You ain't seen nothing yet! Bush was a piker compared to Mitt Romney.

By the way, many places in Wisconsin are converting to natural gas. Cleaner, cheaper, safer. Paul Ryan needs to get back here more often - he's been in Washington (or Randland) so long that he's lost touch. I hope his district does the right thing Nov. 6 and votes him out - Janesville needs and deserves better.

Same playbook, now with more pictures of Obama. I wonder how much value will it have after he looses the election. No new plan , which hasn't worked so far, but then barrow and spend President Obama just states he cares about the middle-class, but his actions or inactions shows he really doesn't. As an community organizer, he didn't even live in the area of those he was supposed to be helping. He rather stay in Hyde Park where the more influencial people lived. Community Oranizing was a stepping stone to better things.

To all of the Obama haters:

Your lifetime risk to develop invasive cancer as a man: 44% (almost 1 out of 2 odds) Statistics from Cancer org.
Your lifetime risk to develop invasive cancer as a woman: 38% (over 1 out of 3 odds) Statistics from Cancer org.

You are going to be glad that Obamacare exists if you fall into this statistical range. Cancer does not care what political affiliation you have. Just think about that for a while, and then think about the fact that Romney wants to remove protections for pre-existing conditions and bring back lifetime caps on insurance benefits...

Do you really want to have to flip that coin?

Obama/Biden 2012 – With a healthy, educated, and secure workforce, America will prosper.

A failed President puts out a glossy 19 page magazine two weeks before election. Fun thing, his plan to cut the deficit doesn't add up.
