Looking presidential: The optics of leadership during a disaster

(CNN) - As Sandy took aim at the East Coast, President Barack Obama discarded campaign events in Florida and Virginia to return to Washington and address the storm from the White House.

Mitt Romney adjusted his schedule to hit the battleground state of Ohio and direct campaign resources in Virginia and New Hampshire to focus on storm relief.

Soon Romney will claim he ordered FEMA's response just like he said he's responsible for saving Detroit. Do you know who Romney is now, that is not unless you too have Romnesia.

Also, this picture reminds me of the "soup kitchen" Ryan stopped by several weeks ago, so he could do a photo op of him washing dishes (that were clean BTW). Even the woman in charge of the soup kitchen was befuddled by his blatant photo op.

Maybe they should answer some questions from the media, which they haven't done since the last debate. If the members of the GOP are so stupid as to allow him to get away with that, they bloody well deserve everything this guy brings to them IF he is elected. He is showing us every day what he is, why don't folks listen?

    GOP/Teatroll/Mittens policies:

No natural disaster: Going hungry? Need help? In dire straits? You're on your own.

Natural disaster if elected: Going hungry? Need help? In dire straits? You're on your own. Hopefully you chose the right state to live in.

Natural disaster during campaign: Someone get out the cameras and soup cans, stat!!!!!

    Any questions?

  6. Romney is NOT My Hero

First it's Washing Clean Dishes by Lying Ryan and now horse-Mitt is shaking hands with the commoners. I'm sure he'll go through an intensive detox program and body scrub after this campaign event (Oh, I'm sorry - Heartfelt charity work).

    OBAMA 2012!!!

"Rob-mey" looking presidential while practicing political opportunism in swing states and back-pedaling on his pledge to cut federal funding to FEMA?!?! Not a chance!!
The 1% candidate asking the 47% to donate to relief efforts while pumping $50 million into campaign attack ads looks presidential?!?! Not a chance!!
He wants to send FEMA "back to the private sector"!?!? How much of his personal $$ millions, his Super PAC $$$ funds or Bain's $$$ billions in profiteering from outsourcing US jobs to China are being donated to Red Cross??? Pure hypocrisy!!
Put your money where your mouth is, "Rob-mey"!!!

No one has a home or electric to heat or eat the canned goods Idiot Romney.

And the bed-bug infested clothing and blankets will be tossed. Too much trouble to clean and sort.

Send Money to get hotel rooms and help prepare cooked meals. Idiot.

He is so out of touch it isn't funny at all.

Hey Florida - vote for this guy. Hurricane you say? Here's 2 cans of peas. Enjoy

I would think all Americans would be pleased to see any of our leaders, whether it be Governor Christi, other Governors, the President or Mitt Romney working together to help our East Coast Neighbors after the devastation of Hurricane Sandy. All of us should not be so judgmental about what's in a person's heart.

Of course, we're in an election and both sides are trying to win but lay it all aside for just a day and let them be honorable men. This world would be a much better place if we could all sometimes catch the other side doing something right.

Benghazi,Benghazi!! It appears that the Republicans have forgotten who was in charge when the US servicemen were bombed in their barracks as they slept in Germany, our ally. 911, thousands killed on our soil. But republicans continue to spew this garbage like its only on a Dem watch this sad thing has happen. Stop politicizing a tragedy and pray from the families. Millions of Iraq and Afghanistan vets commit suicide daily, they return maimed but still we continue with this sad rhetoric. The GOP sold a WMD war to the coubtry using Colin Powell and last week after his endorsment of Obama, McCain made it appear that it was Powell who singly concucted such.If Romney is elected it will be God's wish according to the Christian right just a Bush was. They stole an election and it got us, reduced equity on our homes, loss of jobs, healthcare through the emergency room, two wars and a world that despise us.

You people who scoff at the states taking care of FEMA...are you so naive to think that the federal government wouldn't help? That's the problem...it's the stupid people who vote liberal. Handouts...that's all you want, while you stay home and collect welfare.
Do you not understand that our federal government is broke? What has this "president" done over the last four years except blame president Bush? He knew what he walked into when he was elected. He has attended under 40% of his staff briefings...AWOL most of the time, flitting here and there. Be informed people. If you watched something other than the comedy shows, where this "president" shows up, you might learn something. Try FOX NEWS for a switch...IF YOU DARE LEARN THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS POOR EXCUSE FOR A PRESIDENT.
