Republican groups launch almost $50 million ad blitz in final week

Washington (CNN) - Key Republican-leaning groups are launching a final week ad blitz totaling almost $50 million.

The Republican super PAC American Crossroads and its affiliate Crossroads GPS are buying more than $28 million in both presidential and Senate battleground states, a group spokesman told CNN.

Restore Our Future, the super PAC whose primary aim is to support Republican nominee Mitt Romney, announced a $20 million ad campaign that is aimed at President Obama's economic record. Beginning Tuesday and running through Election Day, it will air commercials nationally on broadcast TV and in the swing states of Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin.

One of the spots it will air is called "Flatline" and says "If you saw this line in the ER, you'd be panicked. Well, this flatline is Barack Obama's economy. Twenty three million looking for full-time work. Middle-class incomes falling. Spending and debt exploding. And Obama's second term agenda is the same as the first" then warning "if you don't jump-start America's economy now, your economy stays dead four more years."

As CNN previously reported, the group is also starting to go on the air in Pennsylvania, where Republicans think they are seeing a narrowing as well in Michigan, where the it has consistently advertised the last month, and Maine, which splits its electoral count by congressional district.

American Crossroads' final week of ads for the presidential race is for $17.7 million worth of TV time in eight swing states: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio and Virginia according to the group. It is not going up this week in Wisconsin or Minnesota.

The buy will include a new spot "Debate" aimed at women voters emphasizing jobs and debt. It features a woman reacting to the presidential debates looking straight to the camera saying "Mr. President I was hoping to hear you had a new plan. But all I heard was keep spending. I haven't made any mistakes. But your spending hasn't done a thing for my family. What do I tell my kids about the debt they will pay for, about finding jobs. Mr. President what about your first term tells me another four years would be better."

As part of its spending on the presidential race, its affiliate, Crossroads GPS, is buying time for Spanish ads in Colorado, Las Vegas and Miami and for a spot featuring a couple whose sick child Romney helped.

Crossroads GPS and American Crossroads also have bought $10.5 million of ad time aimed at key Senate races, including those Indiana, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

    Four and The Door-

Look around- Mitch McConnell and John Boehner are the ones who decided to block all legislation of the Democrats- they are the ones who swore an oath to Grover Norquist and his "Club for Growth", they are the ones infusing radical fundamentalist theology into law.

The GOP is trying to suppress the vote (I guess they were warning us about themselves when they started whining about voter fraud).

Your Candidate is the Lyin' King. Romney can't TELL the truth!

How in the world can you waste your vote on such an ant-American Party and anti-American Candicate?

  5. The REAL Truth...

@Four and The Door – Romney/ Ryan 2012 has the right message to invest in. We do not have to settle for 2% annual GDP growth, exploding national debt driven higher by an expanding, expensive government, high unemployment and a dysfunctional partisan political climate in Washington. There is a better way to manage the federal government. It can be accomplished with qualified, experienced, competent leadership and American values. Romney/ Ryan 2012.

Seriously ??? Where do you folks come up with this garbage ??? Do you think Romeny is going to change the partisan political climate in Washington. You folks seem to forget that Dubya DIRECTLY added over $6.4 TRILLION to the National Debt, then INDIRECTLY added over $3 TRILLION more under Obama's administration to pay for his TWO unfunded/illegal wars. Talk about Debt.. the FISCAL cliff you are blaming Obama for was a DIRECT cause of the GOP's debt ceiling negotiations. The $1 Trillion in Defense spending reductions is the NUMBER the Repugs came up with !!!
Please check your FACTS before parroting foreign-owned Faux Noise Entertainment sound bites.. it gives REAL conservatives (NOT Repuglicans) a bad name.

Imagine if FEMA was a thing of the past and no longer existed. Imagine if most of our police, firefighters, and paramedics were eliminated all in the name of reducing big government. Instead of imagining, this would be the reality under Romney.
Romney has vowed to dismantle FEMA and reduce the number of first responders to pay for his tax cuts for the rich.

At this point, I am absolutely confident in my choice of candidate. I am equally confident that the other candidate is not presidential material worthy of America, and never was. One only has to consider his complete confidence that he can fool everyone all the time ... and his willingness to do just that. Romney stands for emptiness in leadership, emptiness in vision, and emptiness truth. There is not one Republican in America who can say with any degree of certainty what Mitt Romney would do as President. Not one.

It figures that the ads would mention the ER, after all Romney said emergency rooms provide adequate health care. He never said how cancer or MS gets treated in an emergency room.

The ads have been full of distortions and in some cases out and out lies. Will the next round be the same? Ads should be part of the campaigns BUT they should be truthful. Even when the lies are proven to be false the ads remain on line. Mr. Romney has personally made sure the ad remained on line. Chrysler did not move Jeep production to China. Jeeps continue to be made in the USA. They opened a separate plant to make Jeeps for China much as Japanese makers opened car plants here. Anything to put a black mark on the success of the automobile bailout.

People should try to focus on the way the President handles these natural disasters. There has been talk about asking each state to handle their own disaster funding and to defund FEMA. Yeah sure! Just another important agency being threatened and eventually shut down. We need these federal agencies because some programs need to be run a national level so that all states have equal responses to problems.

The American voters gave Republicans the House in 2010 to stop the pillaging of the US Treasury for funding Obama's liberal Agenda. The House has done exactly what we sent them there for. The 2011 budget was reduced by $100 billion and the debt ceiling increase was matched by significant spending cuts, fought every dollar of the way by Obama and Harry Reid. Finally someone in Washington is looking out for the nation and the American taxpayer instead of party ideology and special interests. I am proud of the work John Boehner has done and their accomplishments for those of us outside of the political circus Obama has brought to Washington DC. Thankfully the shellacking will be completed next week.

First question: YES. Mitt Romney absolutely will change the partisan political paralysis that has taken over Washington DC. He has already showed his capability to do this when he was Governor of Massachusetts.

But no, Obama does not get to run against George W. Bush in 2012. In fact, Obama did not defeat George W. Bush in 2008. Bush was defeated by something Obama will never have to worry about. Term Limits.

Romney and the Republicans would let the States fend for themselves. The Republican agenda is everyone is for themselves and to hell with everyone else. That is not the American way and we MUST not fall for what the Republicans are selling. Remenber the last last time we bought what they were selling? It was not that long ago. And remember what happened? We almost lost everything. We MUST never forget. DO NOT BUY WHAT THER ARE SELLING.

"Remenber the last last time we bought what they were selling?"

Unless we the people get out and vote against Mitt Romney, this election won't be a peoples election. It'll be nothing more than an election bought and paid for by wall street benefitting wall street and Mitt Romney.

Your math is as bad as Willard's tax plan numbers. If by some slim chance the Twit is elected, he will be as powerless to rectify the stalemate in DC as he was getting the Republican agenda passes in MA. He took that state to 47th in job creation and raised taxes (oops. sorry.. "fees") on anything that moved. He then conveniently had all records of his tenure destroyed or removed... sound familiar??

Again, please spare us the parroted sound-bites and CHECK THE FACTS... you repugs have incredibly short memories and truth is of little importance in your agenda.

"President Hollywood and Racist Joe have outspent Romney/Ryan 2:1 nationally, and that doesn't even count the millions of dollars in free advertising that Hollywood gets from his entertainment industry buddies. Yet Obamakins still go into a tizzy every time Republicans do an ad buy. What funny, silly little people Obamakins are."

LIE. That's the campaign spending alone that is higher for Obama. When you factor in the PACs spending money on behalf of Mittens, he's far ahead.

Great!!! GOP must not be doing as good as they thought if they need to spend 50 million in one week. Oh by they way Mittens how is that comment about getting rid of FEMA doing right now? Mittens is a joke!!

@four & the door Really ? Are you from Mass? As Govenor, Romney was a failure. He left office with a 36% approval rating. Perhaps he didn't raise taxes but he raised every fee imaginable. He won't even win the State of Mass in this election nor his birth State of Michigan. Ryan won't take Wisconscin either.
