Romney set to return to Virginia Thursday

(CNN) – After canceling events in Virginia before and after a major storm swept through the region, GOP nominee Mitt Romney will return to the commonwealth Thursday for a campaign rally in Doswell, north of Richmond.

An invitation to the event said it would start at 1:45 p.m.

The bottom of the invitation included information on donating to Red Cross efforts, and encouraged supporters to bring bottled water and supplies to collection centers at Romney campaign offices for distribution.

Prior to the storm, Romney canceled plans Sunday to campaign in Virginia, which was in the storm's path, and instead joined his running mate Paul Ryan for events in Ohio. The GOP presidential nominee also canceled campaign events in Ohio, Iowa and Wisconsin on Monday, then in Ohio on Tuesday.

Instead, Romney said he would partake in relief efforts in Ohio on Tuesday.

Please just stop spending money and effort on campaigns, New Jersey needs help.

We're doing just fine in Virginia. If Willard wants to show people he cares, he should be directing his resources to NJ, NY and CT rather than pandering to us Virginians who are familiar with dealing with the aftermath of storms.

Mr. Romney is a very intense man who always looks like he is uptight. It is rare to see footage of him relaxed as he campaigns. If he is stressed now just how stressed would he be as president. No wonder Ann says she is worried about his mental health should be be elected.

For Mr. Romney it is the thrill of running not necessarily the thrill of governing. In MA he lost interest after two years. What would happen with the presidency?

Nice to show up AFTER the storm for your support. Was it nice and dry in Iowa? How will you look into the faces of first responders that you have dissed while they stayed and did their jobs? How are you going to face the people of Florida, the people of New Jersey who are going to need disaster aid that you are on record wanting to cut? Change your mind for a nice sound bite? You know who a man is by their actions...Posting a note to gee whiz donate to the Red Cross does little for the person who has lost everything. Nice to show up AFTER the storm.

Romney calls FEMA to speak to the very people he wants to FIRE and outsource their jobs and everything FEMA is doing that goes well, you bet Romney will lie and try to take credit for it just like he attempted to do with the AUTO BAILOUT. Romney has proven over and over again, he will use others misfortune, even death, to capitalize for himself and damn President Obama for doing the right things.

Do you think he will offer praise for the job Obama's doing? Well, he might, if his 'handlers' think it will get a few more votes.

It's hard to say it, but Chris Christie is a class act, at least when compared to romney.

Romney and the Republicans would let the States fend for themselves. The Republican agenda is everyone is for themselves and to hell with everyone else. That is not the American way and we MUST not fall for what the Republicans are selling. Remember the last time we bought what they were selling? It was not that long ago. And remember what happened? We almost lost everything. We MUST never forget. DO NOT BUY WHAT THEY ARE SELLING.

You know what he cares about more, is the election, not the people who are suffering from the hurricane. What a joke this man is. How about you donate some of your millions to the people of NJ, NY and the others that were effected by this storm. If I was leaning towards voting for this man, this should be the straw that broke the camels back. This should show you he doesn't care about anyone but himself. All he wants is to be elected president, and god help us if he gets in.

Under President Obama's leadership, FEMA has changed it's focus from responding after an event to staging resources close by before an event occurs. This ensures rapid response and getting help where it is needed, when it is needed. And you can ask the good people of the Atlantic seaboard if they think FEMA is a good thing or a bad thing. Then go back and review Romney's position on FEMA......think about that Virginia, when Romney comes a pandering.

just like all "executives" saunter in after the danger and watch others clean up the mess while they spout off – of course when he turns FEMA into a "for profit business" paid for by those harmed in natural disaters he can spout off about what a great business man he – Romney – good ridence

Gov Romney is the absolute worst Republican nominee ever in the history of presidential elections. He is clueless. Why is he still campaigning during the storm and its aftermath. Keep Gov Romney out of the Whitehouse.

I'll bet romney is going to Virginia to look for the REAL Benghazi killers.

I'm sure a lot of righties will use this, as they do all comment sections, to attack our President on Benghazi, and many reasonable people are wondering why.

If you listen to fox 'News' for ten minutes, you will hear some new, late breaking report about someone's twitter feed that new evidence just came out that Obama knew all about the attack before it happened, and deliberately ignored the 'facts'.

Since they can't report on how romney will save the economy, they make up propaganda to keep the base fired up. And it's working.

Romney running the US presidency and making it this far must be the lowest point in American history because never have a guy who made it this far without any conviction, believe and core principle. He have opposed and supported any conservable idea equally from both side throughout his political career. This seems to me a typical shady sales man behavior than a leader.

Not even a "pretend you care" visit to the damaged areas of the Sandy storm? Such a true humanitarian – NOT. VA – don't show up for his rallies. Romney is a fraud who will lie about anything to get a vote. You're lucky Sandy did not hit you directly because Romney does not believe in FEMA or helping the American People hit by natural disasters. He doesn't believe in anything except that which benefits him. He is NOT qualified for any public job much less our most critical PEOPLE SERVING job as President. Romney is a liar and a fraud.
