Romney set to return to Virginia Thursday

(CNN) – After canceling events in Virginia before and after a major storm swept through the region, GOP nominee Mitt Romney will return to the commonwealth Thursday for a campaign rally in Doswell, north of Richmond.

An invitation to the event said it would start at 1:45 p.m.

The bottom of the invitation included information on donating to Red Cross efforts, and encouraged supporters to bring bottled water and supplies to collection centers at Romney campaign offices for distribution.

Prior to the storm, Romney canceled plans Sunday to campaign in Virginia, which was in the storm's path, and instead joined his running mate Paul Ryan for events in Ohio. The GOP presidential nominee also canceled campaign events in Ohio, Iowa and Wisconsin on Monday, then in Ohio on Tuesday.

Instead, Romney said he would partake in relief efforts in Ohio on Tuesday.

    CUT FEMA????

Wasn't Romney the one who said he wanted to CUT & get rid of FEMA???? Don't we all remember that? What would we do now without FEMA?? Think about it! The agency that's now forefront in the disaster relief efforts in Virginia, New York, N. Carolina, and ther other affected states...would be dissolved by a man who wants to be the next President.

Now, Romney's words and intention have come home to roost. They are back to haunt him!

Why should American trust this inconsiderate man to be president??? Why? Just Why, Why??? We need to CUT Romney istead of him CUTTING FEMA.

Romney MUST GO...FEMA is here to STAY!!!

This huge storm must make people stand up and notice who is leading the country right now and the fine job he is doing overseeing the people who will do the jobs needed to get the eastern part of the country through this emergency. President Obama appointed qualified people to the jobs and knew they they could do the job. FEMA has done just that for four years.

It is more obvious than ever that this President deserves a second term. Yes, the economy is slow to recover but it is on track to do so. If we are willing to have faith, to help those who have been hardest hit by both the economy and the storm we can get through this and all enjoy good times ahead.
Much of the damage of Sandy occurred in more affluent communities. The insurance companies will have a big bill. Let's see what they do with premiums now. They have been making money and should be able to weather this storm.

Romney put in "face time" with FEMA – an agency he plans to cut. He cancelled Virginia to campaign in Ohio during Sandy. He's asking Americans to contribute to Red Cross...

How much of his annual $22 million & total $250 million assets is this 1% candidate contributing to Red Cross & other relief efforts!?!?
    Disgusting hypocrisy!!!

  5. Facts don't Lie

So Mitt's "relief but not campaign effort" is being held in OHIO and I guess people are supposed to be stupid enough to just accept this has nothing to do with the election. Tell you what...had Obama had such a "relief effort" in Ohio of all places the right wing would have a field day with it. Why isn't Mitt going to try to help his home state of Massachusetts instead. Better yet go check in on his buddy Sununu. What a crock.

    Wow,
Not much of anything here but cheap shots. Obama will be proud as that is his message now. I call it the Incredable Shrinking Presidency. Isn't it Ironic. Sandy comes just in time to explain the Obama Presidency in one fell swoop. Disaster.

Unfortunately, there are many fools in this country that are driven by ignorance than facts, and would rather believe made up facts then make good decisions on their own. They are the real 47% that Mitt was talking about. He knows it is easier to fool and exploit an ignorant person that won't stand up to him, which is why the most impoverished, undereducated states are Republican strongholds–and have been for decades.

No words will sway a Romney voter away if they choose to make themselves blind to his corruption. I will instead offer the following quote from the legendary King Arthur: "No Knight who is False can win against one who is True".

Godspeed, President Obama. Those that know who you truely are will propel you to victory!

This is the guy that says the States should fend for themselves. Yet again he is doing another 360. This guy is the most dishonest person ever to run for President. Romney has no morals. He will lie, cheat, steal and change his position in a heartbeat to sound reasonable and con people. Romney and the Republicans would let the States fend for themselves. The Republican agenda is everyone is for themselves and to hell with everyone else. That is not the American way and we MUST not fall for what the Republicans are selling. Remember the last time we bought what they were selling? It was not that long ago. And remember what happened? We almost lost everything. We MUST never forget. DO NOT BUY WHAT THEY ARE SELLING.

Comparing- Ask 65% of the people in MA what kind of leader Mittens was. Outsourcing MA government jobs to India, raising over 700 taxes, 47th in job creation in 4 years (43,000 jobs), increased debt, and erasing all the hard drives on the government computers when he left.

Romney is the most dishonest person ever to run for President. Romney has no morals. This man has no core. He cheated many decent folks out of their retirement and their jobs in order to stuff his pocket while at Bain. He will lie, cheat, steal and change his position in a heartbeat to sound reasonable and con people. He is the worst of the worst con artist. Romney and the Republicans would let the States fend for themselves even if they are hit by a natural disaster.

Romney can't wait to continue campaigning, especially knowing that the president is all tied up with the coordination of the disaster relief efforts. Romney shows just who he is: A spineless coldblooded man who has only sympathy for the 1%. The storm is merely a nuisance for him.

Most of the stuff Romney said during GOP primaries has now come to haunt him:

    1. Let Detroit go bankrupt – It has shown now the bail out was quite necessary
    2. FEMA should be scrubbed off – It has shown now during Sandy disaster how important it is
    3. 47% are victims and depend on government – he has been proved wrong until he said now he cares for all 100%
    4. Firemen are not needed – They have proved during this disaster how important they are
    5. Policemen are not needed – It has been proved during the disaster how 911 was active than ever
    6. etc. etc.

Don't donate water or other supplies! The Red Cross has to try and repackage that, sort it, ship it, etc. Give them cash. Nice move, Romney - overburden the Red Cross.
