In Sandy’s aftermath, Romney to strike a positive tone

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Superstorm Sandy will wash away some of the strong partisan rhetoric from the campaign trail, at least for one more day.

As President Barack Obama is surveying the damage left by the massive storm with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Mitt Romney will strike a "positive" tone during a swing through the battleground state of Florida Wednesday, a senior Romney adviser tells CNN.

With Christie tending to storm clean-up back home, Romney will have some other strong surrogates by his side. Joining the GOP presidential nominee at stops in Tampa and Coral Gables will be Florida's former governor Jeb Bush and current U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio.

Asked if Romney had a problem with Christie, a top campaign surrogate, looking at storm damage with the president just six days before the election, a top Romney adviser offered one word: "None."

The GOP nominee set aside his usual stump speech at a campaign event in Ohio on Tuesday. Instead, Romney welcomed donations of storm-relief supplies from supporters. The donations will go to American Red Cross storm response efforts in New Jersey, a campaign aide said. A spokeswoman for the American Red Cross confirmed to CNN that it will receive the items.

“The American Red Cross appreciates the support from the Romney campaign and is working with the campaign to process this donation of supplies,” Ann Marie Borrego, a Red Cross spokeswoman, said in a statement. “We are grateful that both the Obama and Romney campaigns have also encouraged the public to send financial donations to the Red Cross. We encourage individuals who want to help to consider making a financial donation or making an appointment to give blood.”

Positive and Romney don't belong in the same sentence. It sure looks like Willard is campaigning to me. Why is he in Florida? Why not, MA, NY, PA or CT?

Romney strikes a positive tone while his attack dog surrogates repeat the same old lies.

Ok, now Mr. Romney has turned into a caricature of a presidential candidate! What in the world is he trying to do? All this political pandering and grandstanding is ludicrous!

We all know what that means.... Now the ever pandering, pathological liar, will play the victim. This guy has so many people fooled all the while with that phony smile on his face. I have to give it to the mormons, hats off for being such good pathological liars. They do it with an absolute straight face. And Mittens even adds the smirk, all the while thinking bend over so I can give it to you.

It is highly inappropriate for Mr. Romney to be campaigning today. He wants to be President but is clearly not acting like one. He should be surveying the damage and supporting the people that have lost so much to this storm. He is not what this country needs to move forward. He is an outright liar with no real position. He should be ashamed of himself and if you vote for him, you should be ashamed of yourself because he will ruin this great country.

A positively disgraceful tone...those GM ads in Ohio are a pants on fire, 4 pinocchio type lies and they keep putting them out there. That must tick off all the GM execs, workers (union and non-union).

"I concede" is what I would to hear from Romney, that would be positive.

Oh great...so no more loading up canned goods that those people can not even use anyway! WTG Mittens.....how about going up to New Jersey and looking at some damage yourself. Everyone sees right through your "fakeness". You will do or sell anything to get elected. I hope the people of this country have the good sense NOT to elect you as President. You left Mass with a 37% approval rating...

Can any one of you Romney-lovers, explain one simple fact about your candidate? What exactly is his current job? I mean all I hear is ex-Governor, ex-Bain, ex-Olympic guru. What has he accomplished in the past 4 years? I really can't figure it out, please enlighten me. All I see is: he sits back and waits for something to target, and then blame Obama. Pretty childish tactics. This is the guy you really think can lead the nation? Why?

Unless "a more positive tone" means that Romney will quit lying (Jeep), etc., quits ignoring the press, starts to
answer questions, and quits acting like a spoiled rotten brat, he will remain "negative" in my opinion. He is
getting worse every day. He shows no respect for anyone, he just blathers words that are hollow and
    meaningless.

CNN, you're in the business of lying for Romney now? Romney's Ohio visit was a campaign stop dressed up to look like a relief effort. Why are you carrying Romney's dirty water?

  15. Facts don't Lie

I am guess the Romney folks forgot to tell Sen McCain yesterday about the positive tone as he went after the president about Libya. And that was at what was supposed to be a storm relief event.

Mr. Romeny, you don't plan your tone. That is not real. If your tone, your smiles and your body language is based on statistics that would be sad for those you want to lead. Who are you without the statistical basis of your expressions?

Meanwhile, Rob-money's supporters are circulating more slanders against the President, like the cherry-picked comment from 2006 about America not being – exclusively – a Christian nation. The heavy irony is that Witt Womney is no Christian, even as the evangelicals promote him as such. The big-money corporate evangelical hierarchy has totally demonstrated its corruption in this election cycle. Pharisees, all!
