Romney uses welfare attack in new ad

(CNN) – Mitt Romney's campaign has brought back a widely-discredited welfare claim in a new television ad, one week before Election Day.

In the ad--which was unannounced by the campaign but posted Tuesday on Romney's YouTube site–the narrator lists the "gutting" of the work requirement in welfare as one of President Barack Obama's so-called failed policies in his first term.

New York (CNNMoney) - The October jobs report will come out on Friday morning as scheduled, the Department of Labor announced Wednesday.

At Romney storm event, some donations supplied by campaign

(CNN) – Scores of supporters turned up to Mitt Romney's rally-turned-storm relief event in Ohio Monday with supplies to donate to survivors of Superstorm Sandy, but the candidate's campaign was prepared with supplies of their own in case people arrived empty handed.

Among the neat rows of canned food, bottled water and diapers were supplies purchased by Romney staff and volunteers, filling out what could have been an embarrassing photo-op for the GOP nominee.

Back on the stump, Ryan focuses on 'different direction'

Eau Claire, Wisconsin (CNN) - In the wake of Superstorm Sandy devastating the northeast Paul Ryan toned down his criticism of President Barack Obama when Mitt Romney's running mate resumed campaigning on Wednesday.

When the Wisconsin lawmaker and vice presidential nominee kicked off the first of three rallies in his home state he focused less on their Democratic opponent – who will spend the day surveying Sandy-ravaged areas of New Jersey with Republican Gov. Chris Christie – and more on what the Republican ticket would do if they were elected in six days.

Jeb Bush at Romney event: State and local response really matter

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - At a campaign stop kicking off a swing through Florida for Mitt Romney, the state's former governor Jeb Bush appeared to take a dig at all of the attention paid to the Obama administration's response to Superstorm Sandy.

"My experience in all this emergency response business is that it is the local level and the state level that really matters," Bush said to a crowd of supporters gathered in a Tampa airport hanger.

Trademark mustache in play if some Dem states fall

(CNN) – With polls showing the presidential race tightening Michigan, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania - and Republicans signaling they think those three Democratic states could be in play - whoever wins these states could come out on top by a close shave.

And if GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney takes any of those states, a top adviser to President Barack Obama says shaving is just what he'll do.

In Sandy’s aftermath, Romney to strike a positive tone

Tampa, Florida (CNN) - Superstorm Sandy will wash away some of the strong partisan rhetoric from the campaign trail, at least for one more day.

As President Barack Obama is surveying the damage left by the massive storm with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Mitt Romney will strike a "positive" tone during a swing through the battleground state of Florida Wednesday, a senior Romney adviser tells CNN.
