Axelrod: Obama closing argument 'from his loins'

Lima, Ohio (CNN) – David Axelrod described the message coming from President Barack Obama days before Election Day as "coming from his loins."

"I've never seen him more exhilarated than he is right now. He believes in what he's doing. He believes in what he's fighting for," Axelrod told reporters Friday after the president's event in Lima, Ohio. "You can see in the speech that he's delivering that this is coming from his loins."

"I just wanted to say loins," the president's senior adviser added with a smirk. "I wanted to see if I can get loins in the story."

Axelrod's comments followed Obama's third campaign event of the day in Ohio, the latest example of the emphasis Team Obama is putting on the state.

The auto bailout is something the president cites as a major first term accomplishment. It has taken center stage here after TV and radio ads from Mitt Romney's campaign criticized the president over saving companies that are now expanding in China. Obama's campaign and auto CEOs have pushed back hard against the charge that Jeep (owned by Chrysler) and GM are now shipping jobs overseas, a message Axelrod perpetuated.

Axelrod said the ads were slipped on Ohio residents "like a thief in the night," and that Romney "got caught." He described the spot as a "risk" for the Romney campaign, necessary because of their precarious path to 270 electoral votes.

"It backfired horribly," Axelrod said.

"A few ads at the end of a campaign isn't a campaign," senior adviser David Plouffe, standing next to Axelrod, told reporters.

Plouffe, exuding electoral confidence, called recent efforts by the Romney campaign in Pennsylvania "fairytale" and said the auto ad will only serve as a reminder of the president's steps to rescue the industry, which provides a significant number of jobs in the Buckeye State.

An "utterly confident" Axelrod said come Tuesday, the Romney campaign "will be left to wonder why the mythical wave never came."

Not the best way to describe sincerity. Wonder if he has been taking speaking lessons from the VP?
But irrespective of such verbal blunders, he is in essence correct, and the variances in sincerity of POTUS and the "say anything" Romney narratives are huge.

And we feel comfortable with ourselves making this decision to look away so that we keep our democrat in power....shame on us!!!........voted democrat all my life...voted Obama 2008....can't bring myself to vote for Romney and won't....but neither will I vote for this....coward...(nicest adjective I could think of)....btw sending seals in to get bin laden was not heroic...

Too Bad that Obama couldn't have been moved to the loins when our ambassador and staff were being murdered in Libya It seems ObaME only gets moved when it comes to himself! He took a 30 minuted photo opp in NJ and was said to have made a call and got Trucks and other equipment within 15 min- AGAIN, why not do the same thing for our diplomats and CIA Heroes under attack – WHY THE MEDIA DOES NOT FORCE ANSWERS ON THIS IS UNBELIEVEABLE, IT REEKS OF CORRUPTION- We are starting to talk to all advertisers on ABC, NBC, and CBS- CNN if necessary- I really thought that there were patriots on both sides of the aisle, but guess not, and no journalists work from principle even if it does not go there way!

A really stupid statement. Axelrod appears desirous of replacing Biden as Obama's foot-in-mouth embarassment.
Hopefully, the voting public will ignore such crass remarks by such hangers-on and vote for Obama based on his individual high qualities as President of the US.

The Obama campaign needs to work on its metaphors. Just think, if Republicans had a half way decent candidate, instead of someone who could only win a debate when the other person failed to show up, the outcome of the election could have been in doubt.

Yo crazeelegs...Candy Crowley came back after the cameras were shut off and admitted that she was wrong and that Romney was right about what Obama said, but lo and behold, no one (except fox who showed the video of Candy apologizing) to include CNN reported on it and jobs are going overseas, not because of Romney or Obama, but because of our Unions(of course Obama supports the unions for their votes) and the fact that we can't compete with other countries. Get rid of the Unions and you will see jobs come back or at least make them reorganize and get real about wages. Businesses have to be compedtitive and if they don't at least go oversaeas to do so, this country doesn't make a dime on anything.

The basic message is the Liberal's and Democrats don't think you can take care of yourself. So they pitch this message year after year. The problem is, is sombody has to do the hard woek. Somebody has to keep the system running, everyday. Somebody has to know how to do it. The question is, why do some people think you need a mentor. Before we had the big liberal social programs, people were taking care of themselves. So the Liberal's have been put in charge the last 75 years but nothing has improved. Except we now have a 16 Trillion dollar federal debt. It is time to make a change.

Sunsudo. You didn't identify the author of your letter threatening an increase in Insurance premiums, but I persume it was from a wealthy Republican supporting Insurance Company. Sounds similar to the Romney backer who recently adivsed his 7000 employes that they would be laid off if Obama were re-elected. The is the type of petty intimidation that just people condemn and vote against the wishes of such bullies. If Obama's original plan for free medical services for all Americans had not been blocked by Republicans working for the Insurance Companies you would not have receive such a letter.

Thank God Barack Obama is our President. The Republican "Trickle down, voodoo economics" has never worked before, and I'm not gullible enough to vote for it now. The economy has been growing steadily out of recession, and major factors indicate growth will continue.

I agree with most of the posters, Obama's closing arguements are the same as before, coming from his rectum instead of his loins. The only saving grace is that you cannot smell his campaign ads.

It is a scary thought that this dimwit is Obama's puppeteer.
If Americans are stupid enough to re-elect Obama , then they deserve to hit rock bottom.
You will be taking the same route as Greece and most other socialist countries.
There comes a point when you can't keep borrowing money and what will happen then.

Axelrod is a used car salesman who is about to lose his 'stache. Obama is perfect for Hollywood. He wants so badly to be a celebrity he can taste it and he's really not that bright. Come Tuesday Barry and 'Chelle get to make plans to move to So Cal for good.

I'm reading through some of the comments and I can't believe some of them. They read like they are written by GOP shills looking to use this forum in a pathetic attempt to campaign, not to express any sensible or thoughtfull ideas. We the public get it. We don't want or need a Congress much less a Presidency led by lying cranks and weasels who will say or do anything to put their ideology ahead of the greater good and that means all Americans.Go Obama.

The big question on this morning's local news was "Will the President go negative in his closing?" How could he go where he has always been?
let's give this arrogant, condescending, nasty little man the opportunity to find a job he can do because the one he has is simply too big for him.

First Obama sits and listens to Pastor of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Chicago Jeremiah Wright for 20 years and didn’t hear any of anti-white racial hatred.
    Now this
The man who delivered the benediction at President Barack Obama’s 2009 inauguration said that he believes, as he once did in his “militant” youth, that all whites are hell-bound.
The Rev. Joseph Lowery, a patriarch of the civil rights movement and close ally of the president, said at a weekend rally in central Georgia that the “level and hatred and bitterness” borne of this election had made him a believer that whites were going to hell.
Lowery said, according to the Monroe County Reporter, it was the same belief he held at the height of the civil rights movement. Eventually he mellowed, believing that not all whites, rather only “most,” would get their brimstone comeuppance.
The first 4 years Obama had to “play nice” because he wanted to get re-elected. If he is re-elected, he no longer has anything to play nice for. I fear his racial and socialistic true colors will come out. Couple this with a 20 trillion dollar deficit and the implementation of a health care reform that most don’t want and our businesses won’t be able to shoulder. God help us all.

One thing that puzzles me. While I know the Jewish population typically votes Democratic, why are they still voting for Obama ? I've watched clips all over YouTube of Obama stating that he is Muslim, how much he embases the Muslim community, how real the Muslim faith has been to his family.......... If I were Jewish, I'm not sure how I could sleep at night with Obama as the US president. Especially given all of the problems and threats to Israel in the Middle East.

Wow, that is a bad visual. I can tell you what Obama is fighting for its his ego, being a celebrity, and the spending perks (using airforce one for vacations and the multimillion dollar vacations and parties).
