(CNN) - Not long after taking a few seconds of silence for those affected by Superstorm Sandy, Rudy Giuliani began ripping into President Barack Obama on Friday while speaking at major campaign event for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan in Ohio.
The former New York City mayor delivered a series of blistering zingers against the president, rallying the massive crowd with line after line of reasons why Obama should "resign" and faulting him for "incompetence" over the Libya consulate attacks.

With new numbers showing the unemployment rate had ticked up to 7.9%, Giuliani said the Obama administration should be "ashamed of themselves" for framing the figure as a positive sign. Giuliani, however, did not mention that 171,000 jobs were added last month–more than economists were expecting.
"He should resign! He told us he would resign if he did this poorly," Giuliani said, referring to a 2009 interview in which Obama vowed to turn the economy around in three years, otherwise there would be a "one-term proposition."
Giuliani continued to fire off: "He lied. He has been a disaster. The worst president for our economy in our lifetime. He doesn't want a second term. He wants a second chance, because he screwed it up the first time."
The former mayor, who also ran for president in 2008, pivoted to Romney's business experience, saying it should be considered a strength and blasted Democrats for making it a target on the campaign trail.
"They tried to humiliate him because of that. You know something, if Governor Romney can have the success for America that he had for Bain Capital, Thank God! Our people would be working again," Giuliani said, referencing Romney's former private equity firm.
Giuliani received perhaps his biggest applause of the night when he focused on the Benghazi consulate attacks, which killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya, in September. The administration is now investigating why the diplomatic post was not robustly staffed prior to and during the attacks.
The former mayor, a top surrogate for Romney's campaign, argued the violence would not have happened if Sen. John McCain had won the presidential election in 2008.
"Maybe if we had a president who was paying attention, we wouldn't be going through all this investigation of what's being covered up about Libya," he said.
He told the audience they have a chance to "right that wrong" by removing the president from office.
"You know that what happened in Libya is the result, at least, of incompetence," he said.
Giuliani placed the responsibility squarely on the Ohio audience to make the change in the Oval Office.
"You know what stands in his way? You know what's going to stop him? Ohio! You're going to do it," he said.
And why has the news about Guiliani cross dressing fallen completely off the radar? That's the sort of story that would never die if he was a democrat.
Poor Rudy, blah blah blah, 911.
The most overated mayor ever.
No, Guiliani is not partisan at all. Why didn't it bother him when Bush took the greatest surplus in history and delivered the worst recession in Guiliani's lifetime or when the Bush administration took the country to war under totally false pretenses? Had he had the guts to have done it then I could pay him some credence but he didn't and it didn't phase the guy that thousands of Americans were killed and tens of thousands were injured and trillions were spent upon a totally unjustifiable war. Go and take your place with Donald Trump
Mayor Guliani. President OBama is president of the United States. There are 50 states and he is trying to be fair.He went to New jersey to see the damage and promised help would be on the way. Remember OBama has his hands tied with a Republican House of Reps. They have done every thing to stop OBama from having success. What would have done differntly than Obama.
But 9/11 was whose fault? Oh, never mind.
Strong words from a man that won 0, yep 0 primary delegates in 2008. Keep talking Giuliani, I'm sure Sarah Palin is listening!
Republicons will always lie to get it their way which destroys lives!!!
I can't speak for Ohioans, but I'm not going to put Obama out of office. I might have joined such an effort at one time, but the Republicans have made it impossible. First they offered up a ridiculous roster of dimwits like Santorum, Bachman and Gingrich, and then they settled on a serial liar whose only qualification for the presidency is that he really, really wants the job. And now Giuliani joins Christi in ripping into Obama with half-truths, distortions and exaggerations. Christi, at least, stopped the partisan back-biting long enough to enhance his political career by working with Obama - as he should - to bring relief to his state's hurricane victims.
Why is Giuliani such an angry little man? Doesn't have enough riches? Bitter than he didn't win the presidency? Just curious. I'm up in Canada. Don't know much about him.
Too bad Rudy has been turned into just another stupid shill for the GOP. Didn't see or hear Rudy demanding GWB's resignation after the outcome of the 911 commission or the WMD fiasco in Iraq. Hey Rudy your going from irrelevent to ignoramus at warp speed.
So if President Obama should resign for a terrorist attack on which he had no control over, then President Bush should probably be put on death row for putting this country into one of our longest and bloodiest modern wars, in Iraq, for lying to the American people and the world about Iraq having WMD's. I find it ironic how the same people who turned our focus away from the Taliban and Afghanistan and helped the Taliban grow and strengthen are the same people who now say that the President who killed OBL and has helped pretty much destroy the global taliban is somehow "not paying attention" and bad at foreign policy.
The Republicans are showing their desperation every day. How sad to see them imploding from their own wicked ways.
Yeah, everyone knows (or should know by now) that Giuliani fell off his rocker a long, long time ago.
How strange to see a Republican rally fueled by anger and hatred.
Giulianni you are too much of a freakin' politician. I suggest you follow your predecessor Bloomberg who is your fellow Repub that endorse Obama because he make more sense than you or the lying Romney.
Finally someone is speaking up about libya.
Rudy Guiliani is a complete embarrassment to all New Yorkers. He should be in New York City helping anyway he can instead of looking for a job in Mitt Romney's cabinet. He should take his cue from Bill Clinton and Chris Christie. After September 11th Bill Clinton went to NYC solely to listen to people who couldn't find their loved ones. He was compassionate to those who feared they would never see their loved one again. Chris Christie does not agree with President Obama on policy. This week they worked together for the common good of all the people of NJ. It is why President Obama said, "Chris Christie is putting heart and soul into New Jersey." Gov. Christie is wearing his emotion on his sleeve and fighting for the people of New Jersey. Rudy Guiliani should just keep his ignorant comments to himself. It is obvious by his actions that he desperate for attention. Mr. Guiliani, please do the right thing, and help the New Yorkers who need you.
what a jerk.. and to think Romney and his henchmen have a chance at this election. disturbing
We got probs in NYC – the only ones talking about Libya are Fox......help the people of NY and stop distracting us w nonsense.....
Giuliani ...after many divorces and dirty politics ....should be ashamed for using the death of four decent and hardworking Americans to seek political votes for your shameless crony who is in desperate move to rule working class americans at all cost. We know better! we did not hear your calling on Bush to resign after 9/11.... Or was there no several intelligent failures before the criminals attack us in the United States??
So a president should resign when four Americans are killed by terrorists in a foreign, war torn country, but should be considered a hero when 2,751 are killed in a terrorist attach in the USA. That makes sense.
