(CNN) - Not long after taking a few seconds of silence for those affected by Superstorm Sandy, Rudy Giuliani began ripping into President Barack Obama on Friday while speaking at major campaign event for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan in Ohio.
The former New York City mayor delivered a series of blistering zingers against the president, rallying the massive crowd with line after line of reasons why Obama should "resign" and faulting him for "incompetence" over the Libya consulate attacks.

With new numbers showing the unemployment rate had ticked up to 7.9%, Giuliani said the Obama administration should be "ashamed of themselves" for framing the figure as a positive sign. Giuliani, however, did not mention that 171,000 jobs were added last month–more than economists were expecting.
"He should resign! He told us he would resign if he did this poorly," Giuliani said, referring to a 2009 interview in which Obama vowed to turn the economy around in three years, otherwise there would be a "one-term proposition."
Giuliani continued to fire off: "He lied. He has been a disaster. The worst president for our economy in our lifetime. He doesn't want a second term. He wants a second chance, because he screwed it up the first time."
The former mayor, who also ran for president in 2008, pivoted to Romney's business experience, saying it should be considered a strength and blasted Democrats for making it a target on the campaign trail.
"They tried to humiliate him because of that. You know something, if Governor Romney can have the success for America that he had for Bain Capital, Thank God! Our people would be working again," Giuliani said, referencing Romney's former private equity firm.
Giuliani received perhaps his biggest applause of the night when he focused on the Benghazi consulate attacks, which killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador to Libya, in September. The administration is now investigating why the diplomatic post was not robustly staffed prior to and during the attacks.
The former mayor, a top surrogate for Romney's campaign, argued the violence would not have happened if Sen. John McCain had won the presidential election in 2008.
"Maybe if we had a president who was paying attention, we wouldn't be going through all this investigation of what's being covered up about Libya," he said.
He told the audience they have a chance to "right that wrong" by removing the president from office.
"You know that what happened in Libya is the result, at least, of incompetence," he said.
Giuliani placed the responsibility squarely on the Ohio audience to make the change in the Oval Office.
"You know what stands in his way? You know what's going to stop him? Ohio! You're going to do it," he said.
And all the wing nuts say amen. Rudy, go back to sleezing around NY, maybe you and Donald could go out for a few beers and begin your next conspiracy.
if obama should resign because of libya then bush and cheney should be tried for war crimes because of iraq, that's how absurd this garbage is
Looking and sounding more and more the political hack that he is, every day.
Giuliani should have resigned for letting 9/11 happen.
Giuliani you are a vile politician. Go away.
"A democracy can survive only with an informed public". I am surprised that you are so poorly informed on the last twelve years. I suspect that you are less interested in the country and its future and far more interested in having an audience, a camera to talk to and those very lucrative speaking fees. You should hang your head in shame. Most thinkers in this country consider your kind of discourse part of the problem and not part of the solution.
If Obama is considered incompetent and responsible for the Libya attack, what does that make George Bush for 9/11?
Let all of us remember what true incompetance looks like – 9/11, lies about non-existant WMD, two unfunded wars, poor response to Katrina, financial collapse. GOP incompetance has affects hundreds of thousands of people here and abroad. However, Rudy likes GOP incompetance on which he has built his career as a raving mouthpiece. Whatever small amount of respect I once had for him has turned into disgust
Right. Rudy can't even get elected in his own state. Between this and Mitt saying Congress would destroy the economy if he is not elected. You get the feeling desperation is setting in, but we will see.
I think Rudy should go home, put his dress on and fade into oblivion...
Rudy is kinda crazy. Is it just me or has he slipped from realistic and relevant to scary fringe and caustic as time has gone by?
Oh Guiliani. We like you in the avatar of 9/11 recovery action. Not when you bark like this.
With the new intelligence reports that have come out (Which Romney now receives so he's abandoned this nonsense), Rudy looks like a big fool.
Giuliani has totally lost his mind.
If Obama should resign over Libya, what should George W Bush have done and how come Guliani didn't say anything about that?
Guiliani has become pretty irrelevant in America.
Guiliani is getting older. Good to know he is still out there trying to hit the ball.
Can someone just pack him up. Rudy had his 15 mins of fame.
This Libya thing is now getting terribly boring! Republicans appear to have nothing better left to attack Obama than Libya issue that common citizen in America are least concerned about.
Ghouliani knows a thing or two about incompetence. He put New York City's Emergency Command and Control Center in one of the WTC towers against the advice given to him by professionals in his administration. He was and still is a vile excuse for a human being.
Rudy, your conduct is unbecoming, and nonconstructive. I'm supporting Mitt Romney in view of his strengths. President Obama is not the anti-Christ.
Ghouliani... What a hack... his only claim to fame is still 9/11 after a decade of pretending to be relevant.
Guiliani should fade into the sunset. His claim to fame he by luck of the draw was in charge of NYC when planes hit otherwise he would never be seen. And his other claim to fame he refused the radios that all FDNY and NYPD say would have saved more of their men as a money saving move. Good Work Rudy now shut up and go away you are insignificant in today's world.
Wow! That is disgusting, Giuliani. You always did use tragedy as your motivator. At least Obama didn't stare at it from an airplane like Mr Texas did during Katrina.
Go away, you old egotistical, self-promoting bag of wind. After trying to capitalize on the tragedy of 9-11, you have no reason to exist.
