Romney: Economy at 'virtual standstill'

(CNN) - Republican nominee Mitt Romney released the following statement on the October unemployment report:

“Today’s increase in the unemployment rate is a sad reminder that the economy is at a virtual standstill. The jobless rate is higher than it was when President Obama took office, and there are still 23 million Americans struggling for work. On Tuesday, America will make a choice between stagnation and prosperity. For four years, President Obama’s policies have crushed America’s middle class. For four years, President Obama has told us that things are getting better and that we’re making progress. For too many American families, those words ring hollow. We can do better. We can have real economic growth, create millions of good-paying jobs, and give middle-class families the security and opportunity they deserve. When I’m president, I’m going to make real changes that lead to a real recovery, so that the next four years are better than the last.”

More than 150 people died in a hurricane earlier this week Mitt. Why don't you show some sympathy for a change.

Old Romney is so full of crap and panic. He has no idea how to respond to the improving economy.
He has no ideas and no vision and no core. He is as fake and dishonest as they come.

Who on the face of this planet is actually listening to this guy. He is refusing to talk to the mainstream media in the last weeks of the campaign. He wants to be elected without explaining how he pays for his $5 trillion tax cut. Oh yeah the Ronald Reagan way increased economic activity. We know how that turned out, the debt almost trebled under Reagan. Supply side tax cuts have given us the S&L crisis under Reagan and the 2008 financial crash under George W. Yeah we want to hire another Republican financial genius.

Romney sadly chooses negativity again instead of the positive net American jobs created under Pres. Obama.

Romeny may have written the statement before he knows about the job report. Romney is a pathetic, desperate and unforgiving human being because he still think we are not suffered enough to enjoy the good news. According to the Romney and republican wish and plan we would have been still under recession. Thank God we are growing in spite of their attempt to extend our suffering so they can get in power again. I hope their hostage taking strategy of American economy will not work this time. I hope American people smart up reject their greed and selfish stance.

Of course Mittens will have his spin. When the President took office, America was losing 750k jobs a month. All the jobs that were lose has all be created back in the less than 4 years Obama has been in office. Face Facts, if it wasn't for the President, American economy was on the verge of ruin with Bush and if ole McSenile were in office. Mitts, your goal is deregulate Wall St, let them do what they want and please, to lead America back into the hole that it has came out from in the 8 years that Bush and Cheney walk everyone into. 4 days to go and you still have come forward with a plan how to fix America's economy just "Trust Me"! I sooner trust the devil then you!

Why does he always sound so generic? Sounds like he's doing a book report at every speech. "We can do better. We can have real economic growth (What would you consider real economic growth, 500k jobs a month maybe?), create millions of good-paying jobs (What is "good pay" in your mind Mitt?), and give middle-class families the security and opportunity they deserve (I thought the trickle down approach was supposed to do that). When I’m president, I’m going to make real changes (what changes???) that lead to a real recovery (what's real recovery), so that the next four years are better than the last" HOW MITT????

No, you flip-flopping idiot... When job growth drastically increases, with revisions from the previous months increasing as well, when income increases and consumer spending continues to grow and housing sales, values and construction are up, that is not a standstill. Don't pee on me and tell me it's raining!!!!!!! And stop trying to fool the average intelligent person and throw out 'fantasies' as if you or a Republican were in the office we'd have 300,000 new jobs with an unemployment rate of 4.9%!!! Give us a break!!!!

Your hope for America's failure did not succeed!!!! This Ohioan is definitely voting for President Obama!!!!

Listen to this Romney-Liar. This guy can never be trusted, he cannot even be honest to say that the economy added 171,000 jobs, more that expected infact. You see America, how can you trust a man who cannot be honest enough to tell the all story right. Adding jobs to the US economy is a good thing and he should be happy about that, at least he should have recogonised that part first and then spin away as he always does. We want an honest man leading our country, that is why I am voting Obama

This clown kills me. This fellow would try and make a case against the sky being blue on a clear. Day. The jobs report just sealed his doom. He has had his chance in the sun and failed. What else is he going to say. He should not be complaining. He is doing better now than he was 4 years ago.

Chris Christie has shown something very interesting this week:

The ability to work across the aisle with the president, and showing that the President knows how to work across the aisle. Also, that it is ok for a Republican to show recognition of a great job being done by the president.

    Message to ALL Moderate Republicans:

To take back the Republican party, you should vote for Obama.

The FAR Right Wing of the party has domonated the politics for the past 2 years.

    The result...gridlock in Washington.

We need politicians to work together to get this country moving again.

The Ryan's, Murdock's and Atkin's out there will not move our country forward.

The Governors like Chris Christie and the President will move this country forward with bi-partisanship.

    Vote for Moderation 2012!

Let's get our country moving again!

  24. Sorry Charlie

The same number of jobs created as lost last month. The rate ticks up, not good for O. Even though I am voting Romney I still don't believe the numbers even with the uptick. Real unemployment is the number we need to concentrate on, regardless of who wins.

We are waiting for what, America? The president himself said he had to turn the economy around in 3 years, or he would be a 1 term president. Time for change. Hope and change have become "ball and chain" on the economy! We are STUCK! The numbers look the same every month. We have 23 million in limbo. I have doubts about Romney being able to do everything he's promising, but I have absolutely NO DOUBTS about Obama. He's shown over and over and over (every month) that he is unable to get us out of the ditch we're in. Time to move on. That's right, LEAN FORWARD! Pick another candidate.
