Romney: Vote for country, not revenge

West Chester, Ohio (CNN) - White House hopeful Mitt Romney vowed to deliver real change at a blockbuster rally he headlined with running mate Paul Ryan in battleground Ohio.

The Republican presidential nominee criticized President Barack Obama, who during his own visit to the Buckeye State said voting was the “best revenge.” The Democratic incumbent altered a traditional refrain from his stump speech when he received boos from the audience.

"No, no, no – don't boo, vote," Obama said Friday in Springfield, Ohio. "Vote. Voting is the best revenge."

That evening, in West Chester, Romney responded, "Our big dreams will not be satisfied by his small agenda that already failed us. Today, did you see what President Obama said today? He asked his supporters to vote for revenge – for revenge. Instead I ask the American people to vote for love of country."

With Election Day four days away, the GOP running mates kicked off what the campaign dubbed a "Real Recovery Road Rally" tour that will include events with the candidates, their wives and 100 surrogates in the final days of the presidential race.

At least 40 of those surrogates appeared at the chilly outdoor rally with Romney and Ryan that drew a massive audience in the Cincinnati suburb– crowd estimates ranged from 18,000 to 30,000 – and included a performance by Kid Rock, who belted out "Born Free" from on top of a piano.

Guests included 2008 GOP presidential nominee Arizona Sen. John McCain; Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida; House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio; and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani who delivered a series of blistering zingers against the president who rallied the crowd with line after line of reasons why Obama should "resign" and faulting him for "incompetence" over the Libya consulate attacks.

The surrogates will fan out across eleven battleground states: Colorado, Ohio, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Of the GOP powerhouse Romney said, "They are about to Fan out across the entire nation to make sure we have victory on November 6, and some comic on the team has named us the Romney-Ryan Real Recovery Road Rally – I got it out – that's R6 for short. They're going to make sure we win. Ohio is the center place. We're going to make sure this is the place we take. And we're going to take back the White House."

Jokes aside, a new poll indicates the race for arguably the most important battleground state remains very close. According to a CNN/ORC International survey released Friday, Obama holds a three point advantage over Romney in the contest for Ohio's much fought over 18 electoral votes.

That did not appear to be lost on Romney.

He said, "Your state is the one I'm counting on by the way. This is the one we have to win."

– CNN's Rachel Streitfeld, Ashley Killough, and Paul Steinhauser contributed to this report.

If I didn't know better I'd say that and CNN giuliani just slander the still President of the United States and I want him to serve another term. Even Mr Romney gives himself 8-10yrs to make the changes. I wish Romney and the Republican party would stop talking out of both sides of their mouths

Next Wednesday, Mittens can go back to clipping coupons and playing in the vault under his sub-garage.

I will be glad to see the Rovian Liars Club replaced by ads for hyperacidity, accident attornies and medigap insurance.

Wisconsin knows better than that! They still remember the good old Bush policies. We are not turning back revenge or love of country. We are going FORWARD!

I heard both speeches. What kind of president would ask his fellow Americans to vote for revenge? When many Americans died for our freedoms including our priviledge to vote. Obama's true colors shine more and more, those words were not made to unify Americans but divide them. They incite hatred and anger in people. When I heard Mitt Romney say to vote because you love America, I could see the stark difference between a real leader vs a president that will continue to divide this country. Very sad. I will cast my Ohio vote to Mitt Romney.

Time for the Democrats to make him resign - this is getting out of control. Seriously out of control. The true psycho-sociopath is showing from the stress. America, feeling sorry for his kids - shed a blue tear– and move on. Too bad, really - oh well.

Every time Romney and his surrogates speak I find myself wondering, who is the director of this terrible movie, where did they find these horrible actors, how did these writers get hired? Their silly little "zingers" are so lame and sounds like something from a bunch of kids teasing a classmate. The Republican party is a joke!

Mitt Romney in short "that is what I am saying, Let Detroit go bankrupt". Mitt: Sorry Ohio, Michigan and Detroit, I didn't know at that time that I needed you to win an election, I would have known better. Now I am willing to say and do anything to get your vote. The good news is that you are not bankrupted and by nature I don’t know what I stand in any given issue and I say which comes first in my mind when I think about pandering for a particular group of people in front of me. I developed this skill as a business manager at Bain Capital.

I could never vote for someone who wouldn't release his taxes, and is so dismissive of us that he would lie over and over. I will vote to re elect the President

His real message is "Take everything we say on Faith–don't try to think for yourself, just listen to what your preachers and Rush Limbaugh tell you to do". After all, this is the way they do it in Syria and Iran and look what a glorious and rich country they have. Plus, the men own Their women....

After what the GOP did in the last 4 years after dumping a mess at the White House door for us and the President to clean up while refusing to help, they are now complaining that the clean-up was not fast and intense enough? On top of it after their "performance" they have the nerve to ask for our vote? This sure can make a voter that watched this all and does not suffer from amnesia – including moderate Republicans that suffered – really mad!!!
Even more so when the GOP tries to sell us their guy, Gov. Romney, who has shown nothing but distain for the "common" people in his life, as the "real" deal to vote for? Romney has shown more disrespect to everyone than there is room here to list! Form "that's enough for you to know (about my tax returns)" to Corporations are "people too" and let the mortgage crises "bottom" out, “let Detroit go bankrupt” he gives an awesome overall picture of the "raider" he is by nature – not of someone concerned about the wellbeing of the country! Is he thinking the US is now ready for him and his donor-friends to "harvest"? Why do you think the “few” spend these outrages sums? For you? (Now you have to smile too because that even you will not believe!)
No, this is the country of us all not just the rich few. So think hard what you are going to be voting for. Know what the GOP and Romney and “friends” will do with this country. First a “nice tax-break, after that we look what else can be moved to the top. He wants to TAKE the White House from – well, you know, “that one” to give to “those friends” of his!
The only good choice is a strait "D" ticket! We know the President! He will work for us all to make a better living and create opportunity for the 99% not for only "1%" of the people! From the bottom up – NO MORE trickle down!

  15. Romney Hood's a FRAUD

LOL. Romney really is the little boy who cried wolf! Nobody believes a word coming out of his mouth because he keeps undermining his own integrity with statements like this. And....he has a reputation of outright LYING to people on the campaign trail. In his defense, some of them want him to lie to them because it somehow gives them a reason to vote against Obama. They'd rather pretend the lies are true than admit they are voting against Obama due to hatred. That's really a sad place to be. I pity those who do that. Of course, Romney will do anything to win. I once worked for a general who made us leave work and go home to our families. He'd say "if a man will sacrafice his family during peacetime to get ahead, what is he willing to do during wartime to get ahead?" That's how I judge Romney. THat's why I'm voting for Obama/Biden. I like FEMA. I drive a Dodge truck. I like the Dept of Education. I like that my kids can stay on my insurance policy until they are able to stand on their own two feet (who do think woulld pay for the higher policy anyway if they dropped off mine at 26 and weren't able to afford their own coverage??). I like that if my tax dollars pay for viagra, it should also pay for contraception. These are all common sense things...to middle class people. Folks, don't let Romney use you to feed his ambition. Force him to tell the truth before you vote for him! Force ALL of them to tell the truth...

Voting for revenge seems to fit nicely...as it would be revenge on the republican party for giving such poor choice for president....this man is evil and should not be allowed to run with his agenda for our country.

Enough of Romney's confusion. Governor Christie likes Obama. I'm voting Obama. Jobs, housing, GDP are getting better. No more Bin Laden and GM is back. All thanks to Obama. Enough of Romney confusing things, I'm voting for Obama.

...I don't see how voting for canidate # 1 or canidate #2 is ..."love of country".... but I can most definitely see that
voting ... if you feel you should.... for the lesser of the two evils... will occur...it is sad.... and not the way the
democratic system was intended to work...but alas... when the best the nation can put forth is loser #1 or loser#2..
something is very wrong with the system...

A vote for Obama is a vote for our country. It is a vote not to take women's rights back to the 1950's; it is a vote not to turn the economy back to the banksters; it is a vote not to return to the distrius policies of GW Bush; it is a vote for strengthening the middle class; it is a vote for education and a better future for our children

All patriots should be voting.......because the truth is......it might be your last chance to keep our nation free. The Democratic Party wants to become a socialist dictatorship in America. Who you vote for, may decide whether this country remains free.
