Romney praises Christie disaster response

Morrisville, Pennsylvania (CNN) - If Mitt Romney is upset with Gov. Chris Christie for praising President Obama, he didn't show it Sunday night.

In fact, the GOP presidential candidate singled out the fiery New Jersey governor in a speech to 25,000 outside Philadelphia, lauding Christie's response to Superstorm Sandy.

"He’s giving it all of his heart and his passion to help the people of his state," Romney said. "They’re in a hard way, and we appreciate his hard work. Thank you, governor."

Christie made waves among the political class with his effusive praise of the president's handling of disaster relief.

Earlier Sunday, a senior Romney adviser brushed off questions about whether the storm - which prompted both candidates to cancel events with only a week left in the race - had stalled the campaign's momentum.

"I don't look at what happened with the storm and how it affected so many people through a political lens," said adviser Kevin Madden. "Instead, we are focused on what we can do to make sure that the enthusiasm that we have seen in states, that it's part of helping our get out the vote efforts in all these key battlegrounds and then just focusing on the message."

Romney's Pennsylvania rally - one of his largest events of the campaign - was the third of three stops the Republican candidate made Sunday.

He planned a four-state blitz Monday, with stops in Florida, Virginia, Ohio and New Hampshire.

Romney also told Chris that he can be thankful that Mitt wasn't president these last 4 years, because it he was he would have privatized FEMA and Chris would have been arguing with a company trying to make profits to provide more than 2 people and 1 boat to try to help the millions of people in New Jersey this last week.

This is too funny. Mitt Romney is a joke. We'll probably find out tomorrow that the Romney campaign paid people to attend this rally.

  3. ThinkAgain: All of the GOP's policies are proven failures!

Where's Mittens' praise for President Obama and his decision to not only prepare for the storm, but take quick and decisive action after it to help all 100% of Americans affected, working across the isle with governors and mayors regardless of party affiliation and putting the country ahead of politics?

Oh, I remember. Mittens is ignoring all these FACTS because it makes him look like the loser he is ...

Of course Mitt praised Gov. Christie, only after Christie confirmed his support and endorsement for Romney.

He is onyt stating the policy he believes in I.e that disaster management/ recovery is a state responsibility i.e no Fema we have to list to this guys chop and change style... he has throught out politicised everuthing including Sandy. Why, because I'm independent or a democrat.... no because he did not think to lavish the same praise on governor Blomberg in NY? According to Giuliani his crony they have problems as well.
    Regards,

So, Romney would ignore what the federal government can do for the states when there is a diaster. Anything not to say his opponent did something positive.

Christie was shaken and scared to change his mind about the President Obama rescue plan. The Republicans have nothing else to prove but to scare voters now. CNN you are part of the hype too. Wolf Blizter has never liked Obama so he also speaks against him too. The truth has come out about republican and their supporters.

If he's praising Christie, by extension he is praising President Obama for a job well done on Sandy by FEMA. Now that's nice of Mr. Romney, seeing as how he wants to get the government out of your front yard and leave it to volunteers from the private sector to clean up your property (good luck with that).

He's even trucking food from Ohio over to Staten Island, where the roads are 4 feet high with sand and debris. I'm sure all those Staten Islanders are going to appreciate the trucks rumbling into town looking for front end loaders to clear a path and for gas to get home which isn't there. He is real smart, that Mr. Romney, isn't he? Yup, you can put that one in your Swiss bank account and smoke it, for sure.

Christie also raised eyebrows when he said he "didn't know & didn't care" if Romney would visit NJ! He said he had a disaster to concentrate on! He was probably looking around the devastation, thinking Romney's idea of letting states or private companies take over disaster relief is pure lunacy! For Romney to "support" & praise him now is a little too little, little too late! Obama showed how it's done, he didn't let people languish on rooftops for 5 days, like Bush did w/Katrina survivors! This President shows he cares in a steady consistant way, not in order to "walk back" previous not-so-caring remarks, such Romney's 47% quip! Obama Next !!

I guess he wouldn't praise the President or FEMA, but at least Chris Christie did.

Where lies your integrity and human compassion Romney. All you and GOP are interested in is playing politics with the lives of the American people at moments when our nation should be coming together to help.our most vulnerable at such moments. To them (THE GOP and Romney, political. momentum is more important than coming together in the spirit of oneness to help fellow Americans need. It's all about scoring political points, whether it's Bengazy or national disaster, their response is always the same. It makes one wonder if they truly love America and regardless of color or political. affiliation or do they only love her when it is.convenient. GOD BLESS AMERICA. Do not let Mitt Romney and the GOP reap where they did not sew. They left our economy in shambles. They wanted our industries to wither away so they can move in and privatize them. President OBAMA and Biden have worked so hard to begin to bring this nation and the economy back to live again. GO OUT AND VOTE OBAMA /BIDEN 2012 .THERE IS POWER IN NUMBER. DO. NOT LET THEM STEAL THIS ELECTION BY ATTEMPTING TO STEAL OR SUPPRESS YOUR VOTE, YOUR VOICE.

Now, isn't this funny! How many days did it take the Romney campaign to come up with that response after criticizing Gov. Christie? They flip flop up to the last day!
Oh boy, please get out the VOTE! Strait "D" ticket! Never mind how "THEY" try to cheat and suppress the vote – PLEASE DO NOT BE DESCORAGED – VOTE! VOTE! VOTE!

So no talk about how good FEMA's response was? No praise for how Obama jumped off the campaign trail and helped get the disaster relieve going? Very non-partisan of you, Mitt.

Christie IS the one who is doing the work in spite of the media attempts to put Obama in the picture.....all he did was photo-op and leave to campaign with rich celebs....Romney stopped campaigning when Obama did out of respect for the Pres..he could have continued campaigning...for his relief efforts, he was excoriated by Mainstream media...

Only now is he acknowledging Christie's efforts, the man who was his first choice for VP. The far right pushed Ryan onto Romney to fail because they think that Christie has a better chance in 2016.

"He’s giving it all of his heart and his passion to help the people of his state," Romney said. "They’re in a hard way, and we appreciate his hard work. Thank you, governor."

Romney said this to people in Pennsylvania, Christie is the Governor of New Jersey
