(CNN) – Hours before the polls closed Tuesday, GOP nominee Mitt Romney told reporters on his plane that he's so confident in a win he's only prepared a victory speech.
"I've only written one speech at this point," Romney said, adding the text of that address was 1,118 words long.
Saying "intellectually" he's felt he was going to win the election for a long time, Romney said his final campaign stops in Ohio and Pittsburgh Tuesday gave him an emotional jolt as well that victory is within his grasp.
As for any campaign regrets, Romney said he had few.
"I'm very proud of the campaign we've run," Romney said, adding that "no campaign is perfect."
"I am very pleased. I feel we have put it all on the field. We left nothing in the locker room," the candidate said.

Romney isn't presidential material
In the South we call that counting your chickens before they hatch!!! His arrogance is really showing.
OBAMA/BIDEN 2012
LOL..funniest thing I've heard all day Mittens
Check out Indiana and Kentucky early results. Twice as many votes in each for Romney over Obama. Good start to the evening! Romney/ Ryan 2012!
Say what you want but this country needs a business man not a welfare king to run this country, give em hell mitt
Some one is sure of himself, he's going to look very stupid when the press is looking to him for his losing speech.... Failure to plan is not the way to go....
Good, because you wo't have that much to say anyway. you are one step lower in monotone vs screeching of that mutant from AK.
The only way this twit can win is by cheating with the voting machines and we have already seen machines in SWING STATES malfunction.l in VA they have no machines in some polilng stations and only about 50 hand written ballots for thousands! This is so in your face voter fraud I am surprised some people are NOT i jail where they belong.
I guess he ran out of lies to tell.
This is exactly what our country needs. A man who is confident in his abilities.
More lies and half truths from the Romney campaign. Half true: He wrote the victory speech, but he got somebody else to write the concession speech.
Mitt has proven time and time again that he's just not a man that can deal with reality.
I hear he is going to campaign in Ohio again tomorrow. Somebody tell him it's over.
Romney already flopping again, this guy can't stop. He will be campaigning tomorrow after he loses to make up the difference.
Well, you're going to lose, Rmoney, so you'd better get started on that concession speech.
Don't worry, Romney's staff should have a concession speech ready. They have also updated their resumes.
Mitt -
You're a gentleman, but not presidential timber. Changing positions to what is politically expeditious, not being totally "up front" with me on everything from the economy to Mitt Romney, sends you to second place in my minimal voting book.
Those dreams you have will not come true this time you better keep safe your speech for next election.Long live Mr president Obama!
I am sure Obama has done the same. Well, maybe Michelle did it for him. Either way, it's realistic that both speeches have been written.
What would be priceless is for hi running mate to also lose his congressional seat.
Maybe he can go back to work at McDonald's. No, wait, he is also worth at least $4M. He will survive and so we will we as a Nation if we send the packing.
Romney wants to appear confident so that he can show his supporters that he believes in winning. Honestly, it would be foolish to say that he thinks he's going to lose. I don't think he's going to win, but let him have the thought.
That's the attitude, Mitt! You've been absolutely certain that the oval office is yours for the purchasing, and now isn't the time to start doubting it.
It's only right that Obama learns what it's like to lose your job and be forced from your home in the middle of winter.
cant wait to get my tv back....sick of campaign ads...
Whether Romney wins or loses I hope that the obstruction in government is a thing of the past, but I'm skeptical.
Only a fool would rehire Obama. MOST of the American people are NOT fools. 4 years was plenty of time to tell if Obama had the solutions and answers to the country's problems. He did not. And as Clint so eloquently stated "you gotta let him go".
We all knew deep down that Obama didn't really have the basic tools to accomplish all the stuff he told us he could. We bought the line about Hope. No it is time to implement the Change and move on to Romney. I simply cannot begin to imagine another 4 years like the last 4.
Yeah...he rigged all the machines, the fix is in...it's a conspiracy...blah, blah, blah...seriously your tin foil hats are getting poor reception today folks. Win or lose, either way outside of a few limited voter machine issues (which I might add are also being reported to sometimes be in Obama's favor) it will be a fair election. 911 conspiracy, Obama's birth certificate, etc...whatever your political leanings when you talk like this you sound crazy. Tomorrow if my guy has lost, I'll get over it and so should you.
"Four and The Door
It's only right that Obama learns what it's like to lose your job and be forced from your home in the middle of winter."
This guy is sick. And the fact that he/she can cast a vote is whats wrong with America.
