Florida voters defeat initiative against Obamacare

(CNN) – Florida voters have defeated an initiative that would amend the state constitution and prohibit individuals and businesses from being compelled to participate in any health care system, CNN has projected.

The initiative was brought in opposition to the Affordable Care Act, the federal health care legislation also known as Obamacare. Had it passed, the result would have been mostly symbolic in the aftermath of a Supreme Court ruling earlier this year that upheld the constitutionality of the legislation.

I guess Nate Silver was right. Republicans, please come back to the center.

I get the feeling that we're seeing one of the last elections that will ever be contested by the Republican party as we know it. The Tea Partiers are too far off the deep end to be pulled back to the center, and the moderates know that trying to do so would be like herding cats. Honestly, I'd like to see a GOP return to the moderate conservatism of the likes of Reagan, because then we might actually see some real debate and compromise.

Don't mess w/peoples healthcare! This is 1 point Romney lost on, tonite! This is Universal Healthcare, avilable in most modern countries! It's the only insurance many people can afford, hence the name, ACA! Don't try to take it away from us, now that we have it & know it works!! Yay, Obama/Biden '12-'16!!

Dear Floridians thank you! Thank you very much for all your work, for standing in line, for voting, for caring, for being there and defend Democracy!
Never mind if Democrat of Republican it is high time to come together. No extreme! Do not let us be divided by a few crazy’s! Responsible voting for responsible representatives that know the word compromise when it serves the people is the way to go. There are excellent people on both sides and good people need our support when they deserve to represent us all! But we have to stay with them and signal support when they do well and tell them clearly when they “stray” from serving THE INTREST OF THE PEOPLE! Dear Floridians, enjoy!
