New York (CNNMoney) - The battle over health care reform is over.
President Obama's re-election will neutralize efforts to overturn the Affordable Care Act, the health care reform law passed in 2010 and one of the signature policy changes of his first term.
@Fooled . . . which handle were you before the election??
Idiotic comment, how about taking a bit of a breather, wait until the ACA starts to really kick in and make a constructive comment in a couple of YEARS!
I appreciate you have sour grapes, but the election is now history! No voter fraud, no October surprise, just a country that would rather move forward with President Barack Obama rather than someone they don't have any real idea about.
i wonder how many of the people that voted for obama will be losing their existing healthcare because of obamacare? how mnay will be part of the 20 million? oh yeah, enjoy the 20 new taxes and the involvement of the irs with your healthcare too.
stupid americans. have the best healthcare system in the world and choose to destroy it. now all the people that canadas system is killing will have no place to go. i guess that is good because now we shield them from their inferior government health care. now they will really pay the price.
Personally, I am tired of my premiums being increased to pay for uninsured republicans who show up at the emergency room, and we pay for it. Everyone needs to have some skin in the game.
US healthcare, the best healthcare system in the world. Another death that can be attributed to Obama. Where is the $3 trillion going to come from? Which people will be forced out of their current healthcare and driven into government healthcare?
@marcus,,,,we will see. I have taken the time to read the entire law, it is obvious that you have not.
So now what happens to all those unions and companies that the Obama adminstration had granted waivers to? Will they be forced to comply with the new law or will the Obama adminstration continue to grant his campaign supporters exemptions from the Obamacare? Will our healthcare now be subjected to the same political games that are paychecks and tax payments are by the Obama adminstration?
@sniffit – well stated !!
Regardless of the actual "closeness" of this election, the GOP really thought they had it in the bag. The results showed otherwise and showed the CR that their extremist influence is not held in high regard.
As an independent, I believe it is now up the the GOP to "reach across the aisle" and work with Obama – which they have steadfastly refused to do the last 4 yrs. The next four yrs should provide the GOP with plenty of time for introspection and perhaps some platform shifts.. This is NOT the Reagan era. Times have changed, and the old white guys running the RNC/GOP need to change their business model to reflect that. Maybe by 2016 they can provide a viable, trustworthy candidate that actually might win.
Dow dropping like a rock. So it begins.
@Wilson – we will see. I have taken the time to read the entire law
Me too, and we appear to have arrived at different conclusions. Sometimes one's viewpoint obscures fact!
Hey Justaskin, you do realize MORE people will have health insurance under Obama's health care plan, NOT LESS. So your comments are so far from the truth I would only expect to hear them on Faux News. I personally know people who now have insurance because of reform, and do not know ANYONE who lost their insurance as you stupidly claim. Put down the kool aid and please join the rest of us living in reality.
Thankfully, this means that Dick Morris won't be excluded from obtaining health insurance and medical care for his pre-existing delusions....and what must now be a LANDSLIDE of grief over the death of his credibility.
Yes, it does secure Healthcare Reform but I believe when this is place in full motion that we will find it will cost everyone more than what we expected. It will become a cash cow.
I will say healthcare is broken across all fronts, equally at fault are the insurance companies, hosptials, pharmicuticls, the doctors, and supporting agencies.
The exceptions to the process is also a problem. The Executive, Federal, and Judicial branches are exempt as well as some unions. This process that they have established is not fair.
Dow falls more than 300 points after Obama's re-election and new concerns about the global economy.
And so Obamacide has begun... People and businesses were holding on by their fingernails for 4 long years. Their fingers were stomped on last night and now the falling truly begins. People and businesses will now make the decisions they did not want to make. I hope you all enjoy the recession. You've worked very hard to make it happen.
We poor cannot afford one more thing. It is hard to pay for car insurance as is. People on fixed incomes who do NOT get assistance of any kind, have to choose between eating only once a day. And paying for medicine. Its sad.
I voted for President Obama, and I was SOOO excited last night when he was re-elected for another term. Then I woke up this morning and realized that nothing had changed: the President, the House, the Senate. In the past four years I have lost my job three times, and there's still no clear end to this economic downturn and no clear plan for the future. I now know that I made a mistake yesterday; we just voted for four more years of the status quo.

ahhhh no. try the congressional budget office. the same people everybody relies on. obamacare was meant to drive people to government run healthcare. that number will only be a start. they also say the cost of obamacare has tripled from the original bogus estimate. maybe you need to check your koolaide?
The transformation of america to greece is beginning, the dow is dropping like a rock. No confidence in Obama's being able to handle the economy.
Bring on all the new regulations and taxes. I can't wait to see them and happier still my income level will make sure that I will not have to pay.
The operation in the above picture cost $44,927.
Obama Care is a good first step in our medical care. A better step will be single payer.
There needs to be more done to reduce the cost to be come a medical professional as well. That could well reduce the cost of health care as well. It also needs to be looked into the medical malpractice insurance and lawsuits. That also adds to the cost of health care as well. Those are tricky problems to tackle.

Doesn't matter. Government will cover the entire cost.
