Business group blows $29 million on election losers

Washington (CNNMoney) - Most of the $36 million that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce spent on its pro-business agenda this election went down the drain.

According to federal records compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics, a watchdog group, $29 million of the money was spent in races that the Chamber's favored candidate lost.

More and more Americans are wising up to the fact that the right wing promises simply do not fit the facts. I will remember this election as the 'The Fact Checker Election', which is significant because the Romney campaign announced that they would let their message be dictated by fact checkers.

How many people could have been helped, jobs secured, businesses kept solvent, and stock holders appeased with these funds. Instead, the funds have to be squandered for the sake of political folly. Why try to reason with people like this?

Just throw money at it.....We have plenty! Common theim in political circles. This last election was reassuring in that people actually paid attention to ideas, policy and information!

All that money down the drain and you found out you couldn't buy the White House. Too bad they couldn't have become job creators with that money.

The PRO_BUSINESS group has the same rights as the ANTI-BUSINESS Obama administration. THe administration's re-election insures that small businesses will NOT start hiring for four more years. Over regulation, higher taxes, and the cost of Obamacare will haunt small businesses and throw the profitability into the porcelain receptacle.

If corporations can waste that much money trying to push the bagger policies down our throats, they can afford to pay higher taxes and create jobs. The republicans will lose lots of seats in the House in 2014 if they continue their obstruction or keep attaching abortion bills to jobs bills. The jobs bills need to be sent thru both the House and the Senate with no amendments at all. They ran on jobs jobs jobs in 2010 – which was a bald-faced lie, now we have a chance to see jobs. If the REPUBLICANS FAIL AGAIN, they will be out the door. You heard it here first.

Make no mistake, the corrupt have been repudiated this round but they will be back. As long as they can so easily manipulate the minds of the hillbillies and the evangelical "fake" christians, they will also have power.

Peanuts compared to what the successful unions paid so they can gouge the American taxpayer with higher pay and benefits than most make for similar work in the private sector.

You can not have customers for your good and services if people do not have jobs. Creating jobs expands your customer base.

And in 4 years, when Obama has created more jobs than Regan and both Bushes did, following in the grand tradition of Dems consistently doing so whiel GOPers claim that their own economic policies are actually better, then we'll all have a good laugh about the inaccuracy of your prediction and tighten our belts as the forgetful, imbecile America public likely elects another GOPer because we like to switch it up a bit and give the other guys a turn.

Guess what? Experts had already been predicting the creation of approximately 12M jobs over the next 4 years. That's why Mittens was making that promise in the first place during the campaign.

Ray- 100% correct. The unions' high wages and benefits are exactly why the car companies are in the shape they were and cities and states are broke from the ridiculous benefits that were given the unions in order to get their support in elections. The vicious circle continues.

    Well Lessee,
With Obama Care being jammed down our throat employment will probably be stagnent over the next 4 years. In fact it may get worse. But let's see how it is 6 months from now. The Stock Market took a nose dive after the election. Some of you can't see the problem. The Bill is overdue and the people that voted for this monstracity will pay for it. So far all Omama has done is talk a good game. Why do some of you want someone else to pay your freight? Sorry. There is no more money Only Debt.

If conservatives are so RIGHT about everything, why is the planet still here? How come the sun rose the day after Election Day? What happened to all of your doomsday scenarios?

Some people on the right are truly false prophets, especially the ones who believe that the Christian God would actually condone rape?

Want to see the problem. Look at the facts. Look in the mirror. Look at what the most recent decade of trickle down economics did to the annual deficit. It went from +$300B to -$1.5T, which is nearly a two trillion dollar difference.

Conservatives are right about one thing, though. We need to stop spending so much money, especially on ridiculously expensive tax cuts for the elite and special interests.

Ray, your clueless about unions, public sector unions like teachers dont make ridiculuos salaries, its the non union employees, like school superintendants making 200k + salaries, detroit, warrren county, one of five buroughs in detroit, has 40 chiefs of police, not a union position, but at or near 6 figure salary that is where the lions share of the budget goes, same with uaw, hot shot 25 year old car designers making hunred million a year, yet you hear nothing about that, only how much union wages are the problem, same thing in bell county california

Instead of hating on union workers who we all should thank for the 40-hour work week, overtime, child labor laws, safe working conditions and what few bennies non-union workers now get, why don't you demand that your employer provide you with ALL the bennnies afforded to unions. If it weren't for unions we'd all be much worse off. The only people who hate unions are greedy business owners who don't want to compensate their employees with livable wages, and their ignorant lackies who whine about union workers. Which one are YOU?

County municipalities should open theirbooks to the public, so they can see what position is making what, the fact that they are so secretive is how bell county california went bankrupt, mayor, police cheif, city manger, making 550k – 750k, that is why they dont show you, citizens would be peeved if they only knew the good ole boy politics are hurting your communities

The Chamber of Commerce actually serves a purpose in growing business thats why they tried to oust our dismal failure of a President. Obama has been the most antibusiness President of my lifetime.
