Obama calls on House to pass tax hikes for wealthy

Washington (CNN) - Flush with re-election vigor, President Barack Obama called Friday for House Republicans to immediately pass a bill already approved by the Senate to extend current tax rates for middle class Americans while allowing a tax hike for wealthier citizens.

In his first public comments since winning Tuesday's vote, Obama expressed openness to negotiate with Congress on how to deal with pending tax hikes and spending cuts that create the so-called fiscal cliff facing the economy at the end of the year.

Good. If you're fortunate enough to make over $250,000 you obviously don't have to worry about money like the middle class does. Time to pay a little more.

Barack Obama ran on it twice and won on it twice. Now the House Republicans need to show their love.

Obviously the well to do have not been suffering. Why not pay a bit more? Taxing them is not going to take anything off the top for those who have money money money.

Pres Obama doesn't have to do anything ... the shoe is on the other foot. The bill is already to go ... its locked and loaded. Let john Boehoner do the tap dance. A word of encouragement is 'don't back down.' The repubs tried for four years to throw the Pres under the bus, now turn about is fair play. Don't let the rich off the hook!

I work, pay taxes, am paying my way through school, pay my bills.

Listen, the chunk of money per check they take out MEANs WAY MORE TO ME than a few grand to someone making a million.

Over the last 40 years the income for the top 3 percent HAS GONE UP 250% while MIDDLE CLASS WAGES REMAIN STAGNANT!!!! We are sick of being fleeced, we are sick of you guys making your money here and then stashing it away over seas TO AVOID THE TAXES!!!

Hasn't anybody told Obama that the other elected officials do NOT work for him and do not take orders from him? Is this Obama's version of "bipartisanship"? It is becoming painfully obvious for even the more clueless that Obama does not know how to work WITH people or to lead or to negotiate. He was not elected to Dictator.

The so-called rich job creators have not created 1 job. They spent over a billion helping Romney. They can afford to pay their fair share of taxes.

The majority of the foaming at the mouth Tea Party supporters who will be so outraged don't even realize that they will never make enough $$ in their lives to be taxed under this initiative.

The "tax increase, Tax cut" issue has been settled by the election. Let the winner implement what the AMERICAN people has chosen: Tax increase. What in the world are we back to same old problem? Do republican really want bring the country to its own destrcution? What is it that the winner of an election cannot implement policies he campained on and won?

Really stupid way to lead a party. If the President agrees to what Republicans want, they will turn around and then say "there is no leader in the white house". Hold ON tight Mr President. Stay put, we, the people will deal with those TEAPARTIERS!!!

Hint: The days of trying to make President Obama a one term president ended on November 6, 2012. John Boehner has no option left to him but to work with the President.

Of course the Republicans won't compromise on higher taxes for the rich because the lobbyist pay them millions and they believe that's above and beyond what they should pay in taxes. For example, if you work and are paid over 40 hours a week that's taxable income, they don't feel they should be taxed like the rest of us.

"I'm open to compromise, we're going to do it my way" Just exactly the way he's done it since day one. Insult the other side, demean them, ridicule them and then say," they won't compromise".

Obviously the rich can afford to pay a little more. After all that clown Trump said he had $5,000,000.00 to offer for Obama's school records and lets not forget Romney's casino friend who donated tens of millions of dollars to Romney's campaign. Whether the republicans like it or not Obama won AGAIN. Its time to do whats best for the majority of Americans.

Am not sure whether the recall of do-nothing congress can be done. If so, and they let fiscal cliff happen. We will recall them at once and get new ones who are ready to serve people as required.
