Mitt Romney sends note of thanks to supporters

Washington (CNN) - Mitt Romney sent a note Saturday to his campaign backers saying he and his wife "cannot thank you enough for supporting and believing in our cause."

"This was more than just a campaign - this was a national movement," he said. "Thank you for the work that you did - going across neighborhoods to knock on doors and put up yard signs. Thanks for making phone calls, coming to rallies, donating funds, and convincing friends and family to join our team."

He did not specifically address his loss or President Barack Obama in the message.

"We still believe that better days are ahead. It's up to us to rally together to renew America's promise and restore American greatness," the message said.

The message did not address Romney's future plans. He has told supporters that one immediate emphasis is to help find jobs for the 400 campaign staffers.

"From the bottom of our hearts, Ann and I thank you for your support, prayers, efforts, and vote. We are forever grateful to each and every one of you. Today's a new day. Keep believing in America," Romney wrote before ending it saying, "Thank You."

Romney was the opportunity for our country to be run like a business. Not an easy task, but a leader with experience to make the tough choices.

There is an entire 50% of the country NOT HAPPY with the direction our beloved country is heading in. I am an entrepreneur...we work 70 to 80 hours per week. I see no upside in our future. We as a Nation have lost the incentive to Risk for Reward our Reputation & Resources... the definition of an Entrpreneur. 4 more years of BIG Government trying to solve problems via regulating what we do & how we do it. Where will we be in 4 years? Counless businesses & industries are on the verge of distinction...and now we have lost hope. Businesses will honker down, try to survive. Business will not be hiring or taking risks for futre reward....as the reward is de-incentivized. A classic diamtricaly opposed debate of Capitalism vs Socialism....why in this great country are we even tempted to try the socialist direction?
Governemnt is in my way! We are headed in an unsustainable direction...will we survive? Romney's loss will go down in history. The "win" by Obama will not.

It might have gone over better if his campaign hadn't cancelled the credit cards within 6 hours of his comments Tuesday night, leaving staffers to find out they couldn't use the cards to check out of their hotel.

Let me get this straight now, his 400 campaign workers are going to be given jobs in China?

Regardless of what people think of Romney's politics, he is a classy guy.

What a nice person with an impressive resume. I just wished Mitt Romney was able to tell his story to the people or at least people looked at his resume and casted their votes.

I wish him and his family all the very best.

The only reason my husband has a job is because of Mitt Romney and Bain Capitol investing in our local company. He has provided thousands of jobs. I wish the media had not vilified him. He is a good, kind man. There are so many stories of his service here in our little town, and no cameras were around. He really does care. I have seen it with my own eyes.

Romney said he would create jobs but can't even figure out how to create jobs for the 400 campaign staffers he just laid off! HAHA! What a joke he is.

Somebody needs to reach out to Romney and remind him this is already a great country. What makes this country unique and great is the diversity of its people and having compassion and respect and hope for all people no matter rich or poor, black or white , gay or straight.

Here is my note to Willard and the Tea party nut jobs out there. Go away and stay away – let the adults do some real work.

The Kochs and Rove chose him because he was easily manipulated. Too bad the GOP voters did not get to chose their own party candidate.

I hope he means what he said"Today's a new day. Keep believing in America" After all in his concession speech he asked his supporters to support the president. Time for both parties to work together for America. The voters have spoken!

Maybe he could have thanked them by letting them use the campaign credit cards and cell phones for a few more hours after his concession speech so they could get home.

Our country would have been so much better with Mitt Romney as president. If I could afford to move to another country, I would. American has headed down a path that is not good. The next 4 years will not be productive. We have a man that is not trustworthy, that stands in front of a crowds of people while a so called singer spouts curse words and racial slurs, is THIS what America really wants to represent us as a nation? Not me....Mr. Obama is not my president.....

This country is going to regret not having Mitt Romney for president. As much as Obama claims to want to unify the country , lets not forget he was the one to cause the division in the first place with his OBAMACARE. I believe that a Mitt Romney presidency would have help our country economically and job growth would have grown faster than Obama's BIG GOVT. polices. This country is indeed going to pay dearly for reelecting Obama AND MAYBE WE SHOULD.

I just don't get why anybody would vote for Obama when Romney is available. It is like picking a child, rather than the grown up, to run the country.

I thought that it was funny that the campaign cut off the credit cards the very night of the election. That shows me that he is either really cheap or thought that they were going to lose.
