Obama tells labor he's committed to 'protecting' middle class on taxes

Washington (CNN) – President Barack Obama on Tuesday delivered a "strong" and "determined" defense of his intent to allow Bush-era tax cuts for wealthier Americans to expire while preserving cuts for middle-income earners, according to conversations with several people who attended a meeting between the president and labor and progressive leaders.

The meeting at the White House - along with a second unannounced meeting with representatives from roughly a dozen groups focused on women's issues - was the start of a lengthy process of negotiating a resolution to the nation's impending budget crisis.

What is wrong with the the working class and the rich?why cant they play By they same rules? The economic and social marginality of the working class is used as the reason for america's informal apartheid. But there has to be a reason for that wealthy america developed a class system that marginalizes the poor and working class.being of the wealthy top 5%
Has two dimensions: A psychological component and an anticapitalist econmic one. The latter makes the concept of poor working class appear to be rationally derived rather then a deepseated psychological disturbance. It legitimizes the problem, making it socially acceptable to be "Normally" intolerant. And yet, it is apparent even amid the hostilities that ther is a mutual fascination between the rich and the working class.

Pres.Obamas mandates are keeping the tax levels the same for the 99% ers and raise the 1% ers to the old level established by Clinton..Get job, infastructure bills passed and get drought relief for farmers ,that's the bottom line republicans either work with him or get outta town the choice is yours ,do what you've been paid to do in working for the people, not against them like the past two years .Those days are over and a new sheriffs in town!!

My recommendation for reducing the magnitude and impact of class warfare is to attack it by reducing the need to the poor and working class as a threat to the top 5% survival.

Obama should " LEAD" by saying
    1) Tax rates on the rich will rise.
    2) Please pass AJA outstanding parts completely.
    3) No defense spending increase and no more war.
    4) Yes entitlements and spending cuts all on the table minimum $1.2 tr or other options in Bowles Simpson.
Why because that's what I was elected on.
You republicans dont agree then we have no option but to go over the fiscal cliff, because the economic plan you proposed to the nation lost you Republicans the election. Mine won. Lets lead this nation Together to a recovery not over the fiscal cliff.
    Regards,
    Hodgson.

I think we should focus on improving national competitiveness ay enlarging the concept of affirmative action to include all americans( nomatter what race you are) in need of education and training, particularly in the area of small business development. This would cut alot of fat off of entitlements to people who dont need it,at the the same time level the playing field for those who need to be trained or rehabilitated for the workforce-With No regard to race or gender. The GOP should start thinking ahead. if not we will become a party of the past and miss out on the future. we killing ourself,we worry 2much about gay people.its time to move on.

This is the way to go! Cutting safetynets right now will be tantamount to cutting people off at the knees when they are on them! Few people want to stay on the government dole, it's simply a security measure when needed, to gain footing! I'm not opposed to revising, tweeking or "bundling" services, but privatizing or voucherizing safetynets is going too far in the wrong direction! All civilized countries have safetynets so citizens don't have to become dest.itute/indigent in hard times! Not to mention, we did nothing wrong, a selfserving administration & obstructionistic congress did! Why do they want to leave it to US to suffer for their mistakes!? Remember that W's taxcuts for the 1% was supposed to be temporary; Obama is just following that program! This is not "redistribution of wealth," it's simply cutting off "welfare" for the rich, who don't need it, but have been happy to accept it, nevertheless!!

    Give them he!! Mr. President.
We are tired of seeing the rich get richer while not creating those jobs. They are not job creators unless you want to talk about giving jobs to China (the twit, trump and others) and at the banks in the Cayman Islands, Luxembourg, Bernuda, Switzerland among other countries.

We all know that is NOT genuine, but simply rhetoric to get his way, through public support, for his rhetoric.

He is a brain washer and manipulator, but in the end, the spending is truly going to be his downfall. There simply weren't enough funds to waste, like he wasted them.
