Barbour: GOP needs a 'proctology exam'

(CNN) – While Republicans continue to soul search after their party's loss in the presidential election, former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour injected a new term Wednesday to describe the GOP's introspection.

"The ground game is really important, and we have to be, I mean we've got to give our political organizational activity a very serious..." he said, taking a pause and looking for the right word. "Proctology exam. We need to look everywhere."

Speaking at a conference for the Republican Governors Association in Las Vegas, Barbour said his party needs to not only adapt to demographic changes but also reform its messaging.

"We can catch up in four years doing this," he said. "This isn't rocket science, but it is hard work that we can't wait and start in 2016."

The party needs a "brutally honest assessment of everything we did," he added. "We need to take everything apart and look at all of it."

Like other Republicans in recent days, Barbour stressed the importance of being more inclusive to Latinos, African-Americans and other minorities. Barbour in particular chided the party for its tone on illegal immigration, saying many illegal workers contribute to the economy and comprise an important part of society.

"What are we going to do? Send them home? Send five million people home and then try to figure out how to replace them? We need those people to do those jobs," he said, adding the issue can be resolved "if we'll just follow good economic policy."

"But," he continued, "then we have to follow up with Latinos and show them that we want their vote - not only that we're for good policy, we want their vote. We need to do the same thing with African-Americans."

President Barack Obama overwhelmingly won the Latino vote over Mitt Romney, taking 71% of the group. Among African-Americans, the president won 93%, according to CNN exit polls.

Furthermore, the Republican National Committee has stated it will undergo a major review of the party's performance in 2012.

Hello Latinos, African-Americans, Asians, and other minority groups, goodbye Tea Party. That's what he's really saying here.

They'll either kick the wing nut brigade out or they'll leave on their once they figure out they'll have to share the GOP with "those people".

These extremists wanted to secede from the US, they'll probably end up seceding from the GOP instead. In my opinion, these people are racist to the core and their biggest problem with President Obama is his skin color. And I, for one, am sick and tired of that. There is no room for racism on a planet with so much diversity.

Have at it, Haley. Looking at you is a proctology exam. After your prisoner release, why is anybody listening to you?

I think what Barbour meant to say is that the GOPers need a proctologist to find their heads.

I disagree, I don't believe telling women that abortion is the most important thing in their lives is the right thing to say just to win the White House or to tell Latinos and other foreigners that breaking the law by entering our country illegally is the right thing to say just to win the White House.

As an Ex-foreigner I can say that it takes commitment and love for the USA and I love the USA as if I had been born here and I became part of the USA, unfortunately, the majority of Latinos want to be legalized in the USA but continue to hang on to their countries and try to impose their countries language, custom, laws, idealogy, ideas into the USA and the majority won't become Americans of the USA, they won't assimilate to the USA.

So I don't believe Romney was wrong in saying that JOBS are the most important thing in women's lives and that Latinos will have to be processed legally but we cannot reward people coming into our country illegally, breaking the laws.

Whew! I'm so glad that GOP politicking isn't rocket science since they don't even seem to understand the basic science of how babies are made. Shouldn't politicians assigned to the Science commitee be required to at least pass a 9th grade level basic sciences test before they start making decisions about science? Leaving decisions about science to a bunch of third graders is an embarassment. We already have standardized tests in place from No Child Left Behind so let's see if any of these goofballs can actually pass.

If the GOP is searching for their soul, then a proctology exam is definitively the place to start. Glove up GOP, because your soul is lost way down in some deep dark place where the sun never shines.

The Republican Party needs to learn more about history of the world and their cicles, they need to re- read the Republic of Platon, Voltaire, and even the Capital of Karl Marx. They need to remember the French Revolution, Robert Pierre, Marat, Danton, and the Jacobines. Inequality is the flag of the Revolution; Inequality is the one that eventually had changed the social and political regimes even to communism and facism. For decades the Republican Party in USA has had an open credit against minorities, namely; black and Latinos, and Romney is the loyal representation of that credit, he said in open view that he has no concern about poor people, that 47% of Americans are lazy living from the Government, at the same time changing political position consistently, without mention no showing taxes return at least for 5 years. Furthermore, allowing his rich supporters to intimidate employees, like the Koch Brother, not to vote for OBAMA. By historical meaning money does not buy fever of ideas, on the contrary fever of ideas buy money. But Republicans are not able to understand, because they only are analyzing the money. However, when freedom's way cannot help the many who are poor,it can never save the few who are rich.

As a Republican, I believe the first thing we need to do is quit whining. In the adage "all is fair in love, war, and politics," Mitt Romney and the Republicans were beat fair and square. We did not fight to win the election. We let opportunity after opportunity slip through our hands. We should have went out every day and beat the unemployment rate among minorities to death. We should not have let Benghazi slide until after the election and we damn sure should not of let that fat governor from NJ run his mouth about how great Obama was. Beyond that, we need to listen to Haley.

Pandering for Latino votes is not the same thing as understanding their issues. Republicans are openly discussing how they will get more votes – not change their bigoted hearts.

Not only do Republicans have to learn how to get in touch with a melting pot of a nation, and get rid of the 'good ol boys' reputation, they also need to stop making insulting commentaries and analysis of why they lost. After hearing Romney say that Obama gave all the minorities and younger generations "gifts" to win the election, it reminds people that the republicans have not changed. Most people look at Republicans attitudes and think of the 1950s'good and 1960s the era of KKK and Ariane nation...if it ain't white then it ain't right. That is what you need yo change. People are recognizing that Republicans use scare tactics to get people to vote for them. They want peace, after 10 years of wars where we weren't attacked. They want foreign aid to go to helping our own people. Trillions of dollars are being spent on wars and foreign aid, while unemployment is high. Why talk about bigger military and military budget when people struggle to keep their homes and feed their families? It's not a matter of republicans changing the way they get their message out, it is the message they are sending. Republicans need to take the blinders off, and look around them.
