Franklin Graham’s Thanksgiving message: Pray for Obama

Washington (CNN) - With the world facing “perilous times” and “anxiety stemming from economic challenges,” evangelical leader Franklin Graham is asking congregations to pray for President Barack Obama, even though Graham endorsed the president’s opponent in the 2012 election.

“Having just come through a divisive national election, I am urging pastors across this country to lead their congregations in praying daily for our president, Barack Obama … for wisdom, Divine guidance, and that God would accomplish His will and purposes,” Graham said in a statement. “While politics is noticeably partisan, prayer must never be partisan. Americans need to come together, and people of faith should lead the way, by praying diligently for our leaders whether or not they agree with them or their policies.”

Oh no... an article about religion. Get ready for thousands of comments. We'll see sanctimonious Biblical quotations, atheists ridiculing the hard-core Bible-thumpers, and the nut-cases who've quit screaming at the traffic long enough to write a comment. It's always a circus...

Why do Christians think they know what's best for everyone? Ugh. Give it a rest!

    "It's always a circus..."

Except circuses are supposed to be fun. Posting a comment anymore on any article on the Ticker is not. Apparently, no one can have a differing point of view anymore without being ridiculed over it.

For the majority of Americans, God has answered our prayers and sent the GOP packing.

As much as I personally believe the whle religion thing exists on a sliding scale with "goofy" at one end and "horrifying" at the other, I can dig what he said here. The ostensible sentiment of the statement is...helpful. I'll even hold off on using my Teatroll Rosetta Stone to translate the code-talk this time.

Franklin thinks the president is a muslim. He needs to ask for forgiveness from the President. he also needs to stay out of politics. Never forget President Truman kicked Billy Graham out of the White House and called him a counterfeit. Bill Bennett is right the Republicans have lost the cultural wars. What will Billy and Franklin do if the Supreme Court rules Gay marriage is legal ? I hope they eat crow,

Frank Graham is a fraud of the worst sort. He is a janus faced hypocrite, living the high life since his days as a drunken, drug taking member of the counterculture, until it became financially favorable to become a 'christian'.

As a Christian, I am glad to hear Franklin Graham asking those who hate the president to forget the partisan and sincerely pray for him. IF you don't believe in prayer it's simple, don't pray. Otherwise, let us Christians take heed in asking our Heavenly Father to keep our president safe and to guide him as he did Solomon into making decisions that are right during these terrible times.

    Yeah right Billy, Jr.
If my memory serves me correct, weren't you and your old phony fossil of a father calling him a muslim a few weeks back?? Now you think we want or need your phony prayers? Not. The majority of Americans prayers were answered 2 weeks ago. We don't need any help from hypocrites.

Now go crawl back under your rock.

I can't believe that Franklin has finally decided to obey the scriptures and pray for the President.Up until now all he's sounded like was a judgmental hypocrite. Maybe his Dad's teaching is starting to take some effect after all these years.

Pray for Obama? How about praying for the members of a cult of false Christians whose only purpose is to evade taxes? This guy follows the money, just like all of the TV religious folks.

I realized the prayer works because President Obama was re-elected no matter how much Romney lied and money spent by the GOP trying to defeat him...so Franklin, if you're sincere then I guess....

If Obama wants credit, let him show us a photo of Pres. Morsy and himself - egyptian president did not appear with clinton at public announcement. Egyptian foreign minister only - and no mention of clinton during his public announcement. Hillary's announcement was drowned out bu loud arabic translator. clinton words could not be heard. her presense was insignificant. obama and clinton are irrelevant to the mideast peace process except for the iron dome. america can continue sending them money if they want. head of hamas recognizes egyptian effort not american. borders may begin to open up but obama evilness must be watched. obama might try to sabotage the peace. obama might influence netanyanu to be afraid of the intentions of arabs. CNN needs to watch obama and his evil people to protect the cease fire. obama and ambasador to israel will sound negative and sabotage the effort of egypt, hamas and israel.
