U.S. Capitol gets official Christmas tree

Washington (CNN) – The official Christmas tree of the U.S. Capitol arrived Monday and will be illuminated at a ceremony on December 4.

Dozens of tourists, Capitol Hill staffers and news crews watched the tree's arrival along with Stephen Ayers, the Capitol architect. "My job is to officially accept the Capitol Christmas Tree on behalf of the Congress," he said.

Waste of money. Frivolous expense. They're not there to celebrate Christmas or any other religion's holidays. They are there to GET THE FREEKIN WORK DONE FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. PERIOD.

Wait, wait, wait, wait a second. You can't put up a Christmas tree in the Capitol because conservatives would see it as symbolic homage to that communist liberal who gives away free stuff, Santa Claus.

No mention of "God" in his Thanksgiving address,,,,,I'm suprised he didn't put a stop to this too.

Let's give Grover and all the republicans a nice Christmas present.....let the Bush tax cuts expire, then cut only the middle class taxes next session. Everyone then can vote for a tax cut and Grover can shut up! Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

So. Didn't know it was required. Ever read the 1st Amendment before? They POTUS would be stepping rather close to the line if he had. You would also see that a secular government is being defined, not a Chritian state.

Since you want to get picky and petty, Mitt Romney made no mention of the troops whose left lives he wanted to put in harm's way. Now, he SHOULD have mentioned or at least acknowledged them. He made a lot of noise about freedom and liberty, but he only had dollar bills in mind.

this also shows that that so called cliff is a Joke – In truth, the fiscal cliff is nothing more than an arbitrary deadline created by Congress to be replaced with a dramatic flourish and, yes, another arbitrary deadline set a bit further in the future. It’s a shell game created by political con men who have come to believe their own cons.
So people, relax about the over-hyped New Year’s Eve countdown for budget negotiations. Results matter, not the timetable.

Civil war is the only way to weed out and eradicate the insanely ignorant conservative cultists. All anyone has to do is read the comments right-wingers leave on the Ticker to see how deadly stupid they are.

Conservatism can thrive without progressivism. Progressivism cannot survive without conservatism. In short, a progressive worldview built on redistributionism, must have something to re-distribute. Without the efforts of the makers, the takers and their enablers are dead in the water.

The reason that the future looks so bleak is because, America can probably survive four more years of Obama, but it can't survive a population that would re-elect him.

Don't they know all that money could have been spent on food stamps and free cell phones? And all the money to light it? More Obama stash money for his supporters. Don't they know religion has no place in this country?

So says the "Donkey Party".... No need for civil war. Just let all the red states go along on their own way. All you blue states think they are all just moochers anyways. Good luck on feeding yourselves. No beef, pork, chickens, corn or wheat for you, unless you want to pay dearly.

As far as our government paying for it and sticking it on public land is concerned, it should be called "mulch."

Democrat Party.... the party that removed God from their party platform and booo'ed God at their convention when it was put back in (when it didn't actually win). Tells you all you need to know about the Democrats.

"Good luck on feeding yourselves. No beef, pork, chickens, corn or wheat for you, unless you want to pay dearly."

Yeah...even assuming that such nonsense were accurate (i.e., that red states leaving the union would be taking their exclusive ability to produce certain things with them), the result would be pretty simple: no free trade deal, closed borders for that state (some of them will have oh so much fun being "landlocked" by blue states), massive tariffs and a gross inability for those red states to remain self-sufficient while refusing to engage in commerce for those goods they are uniquely positioned to produce. You've got a stupendous plan for complete disaster in those states. Have fun with all your chickens and wheat....they won't pay the state's bills if nobody outside the state is buying them or their trade is hampered by tarriffs and trade fees, etc.

    GOP/Teatroll "reasoning":

Spending money on giant christmas tree constituting an ostensible "Krischun Nashun" endorsement of a religion and hiring the unionized crane operators and workers to stick in on public land: no problem.

Spending money on infrastructure projects to fix failing bridges, road and highways and hiring the unionized construction workers to do the work: time to throw a giant tantrum.

    Any questions?
