(CNN) – Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the third ranking House Republican, is hosting a screening for fellow GOP representatives tomorrow to watch the movie "Lincoln" - starring Daniel Day Lewis as President Abraham Lincoln - according to McCarthy's spokeswoman.
This isn't the first time McCarthy has invited his GOP colleagues to view a movie. He also held a screening of the movie "Moneyball," because his aide notes, he believes in using metrics/numbers. That movie tells the story of a baseball team's general manager assembling players using a metric-based approach.
He also raised some eyebrows for showing a violent scene in the movie "The Town" at a GOP conference meeting when leaders were discussing negotiations with Democrats.
$10 that if the entirety of the GOPers in both the Senate and House attended, you could find a couple undereducated enough to believe, from what they see in the movie, that Lincoln was a Dem.
I hope they turn off there cell phones during the movie !
memo to GOP:
re: Lincoln
Dear Sirs,
You are no longer the Party of Lincoln nor T. Roosevelt, Eisenhower, or even Reagan. You have become far too radicalized and "conservative" to accept any of these men's policies anymore.
Maybe you should watch "Birth of a Nation". It is much more fitting for where you are today.
@rs – They haven't been the Party of Lincoln or T. Roosevelt for more than 50 years. Lincoln and Roosevelt were liberals, as were Jefferson, Franklin, Adams, Madison, Paine, and most of the rest of the founders. But, shhhh! Don't tell the GOTP.
The party of Lincoln has strayed far away from his views.
And this is what we are paying these buffoons to do on our dime ??????
WOW.................repuks are so disgusting. This at a time when the GOPers are not WORKING on American's many problems. PLEASE GOD reid America of the GOPers, they truly do not give a rats behind about this country.
maybe the theatry will suffer structural collapse while they are viewing it .... a person can dream can't they !!!
they will all go because it is free. I hope they don't come away thinking they are like the republican party of old. Maybe they will learn something but I doubt it.
The republican party today is NOT the party of Lincoln. The republican party is closer to the Whig Party than anything else!
Please don't sequester yourselves in the theatre and start getting any ideas.
Yes I said it.
I don't trust these sick Republicans.
Note to the Secret Service: This second term is NOT the time for you to get your groove on. Capisce?
Maybe they will watch the vampire slayer version instead; it seems to be much more their speed.
