Man arrested after charging at Romney's SUV

(CNN) - The Secret Service said an unidentified man was arrested Thursday at the White House after running at the vehicle carrying former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney to a lunch there.

The man reached into Romney's open vehicle window as the SUV stopped at a White House gate. He was yelling the candidate's name when he was hauled away, apparently by a security officer.

"This afternoon an individual interfered with a motorcade," the Secret Service said in a statement. "He became combative with uniformed Secret Service agents, and was arrested for assault of a police officer and unlawful entrance."

The individual did not appear to physically contact Romney.

Romney was visiting the White House for a lunch with President Barack Obama. The White House said in a statement the "focus of their discussion was on America's leadership in the world and the importance of maintaining that leadership position in the future."

– CNN's Matt Hoye and Gregory Wallace contributed to this report

"The man reached into Romney's open vehicle window as the SUV stopped at a White House gate?" The window is completely up when it pulls up so the story is fabricated. Did they really arrest him, did he really assault a police officer, I didn't see him unlawfully enter the gate? I doubt it, he most likely did nothing wrong except yell at a passenger window and all charges should be dropped. Secret Service taking away your freedom of speech.

I don't think that people care that you call Mitt, Willard–we get it, you don't want to be respectful. If he wanted to be called Willard, then he wouldn't be going by Mitt. It is the same as saying Barack Hussein Obama.

Note: Hussein Obama still needs to cut a trillion from his budget ($1.5T if we want to be debt neutral). You can call names and slander after the election all you want, but the president from 2008 – 2012 left the current president a big mess–that campaigning won't fix.

If you're gonna keep calling him Willard please go back to the MSNBC affiliated hate sites to post your commnets. You can continue to worship at the Alter of Al Sharpton and the rest of MSNBC hate team over there. They'll welcome you with open arms.

That's his name. Were you not aware of that? Typical of his supporters-they had no idea who they were supporting.

Every single democrat that read this article is just mad that the guy that charged the vehicle wasn't armed. Fact!

With the Benghazi affair, trillions more in debt and the country and the economy in shambles Obama offered Mitt Romney the position of ....................President of the United States! ;)

Pat Williams: Your comments are truly hypocritical. You condemn those that don't favor obama (I think obama's policies are hurting the economy and 'middle class'), but you attack a man that ran for president because he loves his country and hoped to improve YOUR situation. Hopefully, not all democrats are as hypocritical as you are.

It is sad that the man attacked – BUT – this is the question I want answered – why did Romney have a motorcade and how long are taxpayers going to continue to pay for this excess?

What was he reaching for? Romney's throat? What?
I'm sure that no Rethug is complaining about the fact that the country is STILL paying for this wannabe's Secret Service even though he has more money that God and King Midas combined.
Furthermore, could this man have been one of the many forcilby unemployed because his job/company got packed up and shipped to another country courtesy of Bain?

It is a good thing I guess that nothing happened to Romney.
Sorry but that is the best I can muster.
To say that I couldn't care less would be an understatement.

I think I would freak out too if I saw Mitt Romney approach the WH. For a moment, I would think my worst fears realized. Thank God we dodged that bullet.

    @Patricia,
Read the article. There was no motorcade. He travelled in a sole black SUV.

@ anonymous @ 4:58 pm – – – You are correct – but try telling these fox bot republicans down here that .

"""I watch both Fox news and MSNBC...this is what I have found...FOX News is a a propaganda rag both in their so called hard news during the day and of course the liars like Hannity et al at night..MSNBC news is basically balanced their night shows are of course liberal...but they do not lie and misrepresent like Fox and when I fact check they are usually accurate where Fox is just a propaganda machine"""

They "swear" by it – and don't & won't believe anything else. sad , isn' it ? pathetic, is more like it.

Nobody bought the "Obama ruined the economy" argument. That's why Obama was Re-elected by the MAJORITY OF AMERICANS. Republicans have no where to go. Keep battling for the rich hold the middle class hostage and watch all taxes go up. Or, realize that the rich are going to see a rate increase period, via the fiscal cliff or debt negotiations and become human, American and help out those who DO need. No millionaires felt the economy like someone who can't buy FOOD.
