(CNN) - A never-before-seen official White House photo, posted online Friday, shows President Barack Obama on Election Night speaking with his freshly defeated rival Mitt Romney.
The photo was taken in the presidential suite of the Fairmont Millennium Park hotel in Chicago, where Obama and his team watched results come in on November 6. In his concession speech, Romney said that on the call with the president, he wished Obama well, along with his family and staff.
"This is a time of great challenges for America, and I pray that the president will be successful in guiding our nation," Romney said.
Obama also referenced the call in his victory speech, saying he "just spoke with Governor Romney and I congratulated him and Paul Ryan on a hard-fought campaign."
"We may have battled fiercely, but it's only because we love this country deeply and we care so strongly about its future," Obama said.

Too bad no one recorded the phone call itself.
It should've NEVER, EVER taken 2 HOURS for Romney to acknowledge defeat. NEVER. Say what you will it was just another way for the Fox-Teatardic-Rove-Koch crowd to attempt and diminish this man yet again.
The President was declared the winner at 11:16pm.....two hours we were made to wait for him to walk out on stage.
Fox went into complete denial, and their puppet-who-wanted-to-be-king shuffles out on stage two hours later followed by his obviously distraught and disheveled wife.
It was a freaking travesty what they did.
The President showed class and humility in victory – the inverse was true in defeat as Romney turned around the next day and accused the President of winning the election with the promise of gifts to those Americans that Romney referred to as 'lower caste' throughout the entirety of his campaign.
I would also like to see Romney's picture when he called Obama.
Woo hoo Mr. President!
Check out the picture of Mr. President waiting at the foot of the stairs to Air Force One as he waits for the First Lady to descend. It's great!!!!
P.O.T.U.S.: Huh! What you say? I can't hear you. Everyone around me is partying and popping bottles of champagne. How's things going up there in Boston?

There sin't one. Camera guy was too busy helping everyone hide everything sharp in the room and take away Mittens' shoelaces.

Good one babe! I needed the laugh as I had pissed myself off with my own post!
Just remembering that two-hour delay makes my blood boil.
After all Romney quit on America and he went back to Marriott to continue his magic on Marriott tax return. What an agony? his desire to be the TPOUS has comes to an end

Bwahahahahahahahachoke!gasp!breathe!hahahahha!!!!!
@ Joi Gibson
Where can I see that photo?
Willard's campaign along with Karl Rove were pretty pathetic in their defeat. They really thought they had bought the election and were sadly mistaken at 11:16 pm EST.

Yes he did Ex-pat. Indeed he did, as always.
@Domican mama 4 Obama:
In the very first line of the article, it says "posted online Friday," if you click on that, you will be taken to Flickr which has a whole bunch of pictures. Enjoy!!!!
Well, from stories now being leaked to the press, Ann was inconsolable (and still is). Guess she finally realized that the one present she really, really wanted to buy for Mr. Mittens wasn't for sale after all.
Imagine if you can:
Ann's ... angst.
Ann's ... grief.
Ann's ... horror.
Ann's ... bouffant.
The President plugging his ear: "Mitt, I can't hear you, what is that sound in the background?"
Mitt: "Not only I lost, but my wife lost it and they are trying now for two hours to get her to calm down, and be presentable again"
This just in – Gallup polls just released a poll giving Mittens a 6 point lead over Obama, and Rassmussen revised their poll to Mittens winning by 2 points.
"He's probably talking to Mitt about the new "DICTATORSHIP" he has planned for our nation the next 4 years. ROTFLMAO!!
Congrats to Obama, and I hope Romney does well in his future work!
@Facts don't Lie
You are right, the only problem is that you live in your small world and the facts there do lie.
@Keep it classy, O – Wow! Amazing. It was a heck of a lot better than falling for the dirty tactics of Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan. I wonder how it feels to hate a human being so deeply that a mere photo of the hated person can send someone into such a tizzy? I don't want to know because it must be so awful to bear such a burden as hate. All the GOP did was create class warfare, racial division and polarization! Don't blame us because you believed Faux News and Rush Limbaugh. You neo-cons have no one to blame for your loss but yourselves. The sooner you accept it – the better we'll all be.
The GOP knows mant things about Obama and Massachusetts. They will be dealt with in the appropriate way and time. The GOP also has reason to caution against over-optimism regarding the Novemebr jobs reports. Even though 7.7% is far better than the unemployment high of 10% recorded back in 2009, the Labor Dept. only counts people who have searched for a job in the past four weeks as officially unemployed. As Mark Twain stated, there are lies, damn lies and statistics. The Democrats and Republicans are BOTH artists at spinning stats in there favor. Kudos to CNNMoney for presenting the true picture albeit its lack of sensational presentation. Household surveys showed 122,000 fewer jobs in Novemeber. 350,000 people dropped out of the labor force. About a third of the 146,000 "new jobs" were probably in temp retail. We need to wait until all the smkoe and mirrors of holiday time and "fiscal cliff" budget deals are done in Washington. Let's wait until March 2013 to see where we are really at - after all the Labor Dept. revisions were made. Then we should compare First Fiscal Quarter averages for past four years before Obama has anything to crow about - if the GOP has not begun to dig into the various obscene issues of his administration yet: Benghazi and Massachusetts.

Keep it ... – You obviously do not read newspapers or watch any other media other than Fox foreign owned conspiracy theories. Even domestic GOP terrorists are acknowledging they have been on the wrong side of history for the last 30 years. Listen to Bob Dole, Simpson etc., and cut out the crap.
Interesting timing for the release. Is there a subliminal message here? Republicans conceding?
