Boehner needs to come to planet earth and think. Raise tax on rich. Cut defense. Stop all private contracts that hurt. Obama needs to do swift and fast in passing some of the drastic REFORMS. Four years will pass very fast. History reveals his image. True. Cut H1B, J1, B1 etc visa and do JOB-TRAINING IN USA. Period. More populous less prosperous!!!

Hold your ground Mr. Speaker! You are speaking for the average citizen out there. Obama is speaking for the Big Spending Libs. We need Fiscal Responsibility, not more debt. People need jobs more than they need Obama Care. If the Libs refuse to see reason, go over the cliff.

Raise the Taxes on the Rich, Raise the TAX RATE, Close ALL the loop holes, Put watch-dogs on all Wallstreet Ceos & ALL banks. Send the IRS ALL the names of Corporations who hide their money overseas to avoid paying U.S taxes so they can fine them accordingly. STOP all the Subsidies " Entitlements " to the Big Oil Companys. And for the people like Romney who send our jobs overseas and own companys in China and import back here they need to be Taxed higher when it comes back to the U.S. It's time to put the screws to them for a change.

most of the peolpe saying they want rich people to pay more probably live off my rich peoples taxes.
Why should the top 2% who already pay 40% of the taxes government take in pay more.
But at this point make them pay 39% so 1.6 trillion more can be taken into the goverments coffers. Make sure that spending cuts equal 4.8 trillion as was discussed between both parties. Remamber $1 in taxes $3 in spending cuts

You never man-up to reason for our current economic crisis. I recall President Bush issued the first bailout package...

Boehner is speaking for the corporate high-rollers that put Republicans in office. His most reliable voters are the old, white, bigoted, homophobic, xenophobic crowd of extremists who are causing the Republican Party to become irrelevant. The Tea Party is the problem – not the solution.

Wonder Woman gave up her safety, her comfort, and sometimes her life to build our new United States of America. She is determined to make the new USofA strong and free – an example to the world. Some would say that those struggles are all over. That all the horizons have been explored. That all the battles have been won. That there is no longer an American frontier. And we stand today on the edge of a new American frontier. The new American frontier of unknown opportunities and perils. Beyond that new American frontier are uncharted areas of science. Unsolved problems of peace and war. Unconquered pockets of ignorance and prejudice. I'm asking each of you to be pioneers towards that new USofA. My call is to the young in heart, regardless of age. Can we carry through in an age where we will witness not only new breakthroughs in weapons of destruction, but also a race for mastery of the sky and the rain, the ocean and the tides, the far side of space, and the inside of human minds? All mankind waits upon our decision. A whole world waits to see what we shall do. And we cannot fail that trust, and we cannot fail to try

yeah we need jobs but you need healthcare in order to be able to go to work. Geesh what planet are YOU on? Plus almost 70% of Americans agree with the president and the Dems on this deal so it's about time your bunch does the will of the American people...unless of course you are in the 1 or 2% then I can understand your disdain .

I wonder why the WH isn't "reading out details of the conversation"? Could it be that those details would make Obama look horrible? I can't imagine they'd thwart an opportunity to make Boehner look bad...hmm.

Wow, Joe, San Diego, was the national anthem playing in the background when you wrote that? On another note...I wish Obama would hide a microphone and record everything Boehner says when he's behind closed doors, then share it with us all. That would make for some hilarious news tomorrow.

If we go over the fiscal cliff, the self-centered, obstructionist House Republicans will (correctly) be blamed. The GOP are the extremist and fanatical Tea Party of NO. Let's vote the Republicans out of the House in 2014 and 2016 and send them into extinction where they belong.

I'll get hit with 2% FICA increase ($2000) plus another $3000 or so in income tax. That's $600 a month which isn't too bad in light of racking up huge federal debts.

Eventually I'll find a way to make up $600 a month in being more energy efficient or saving a little less.

Its true, J'Cinncinati'Red. I don't think anyone will argue with you that 99% of those that are self-made, wealthy people, got there with hard work.

What about the rest of them, and what about those that work much harder just to keep their heads above water and get nothing?

Somebody please inform Boehner that the GOP lost in November!! Obama was very clear about not extending again these tax cuts on the rich. Boehner is the obstruction to the deal.

Hey, Mein Fuerher, Adolphus Barakus HusseinHITLERlite Obamanation_donkeyhole_idiot; where are the spending cuts???
After all, the annual deficit is about $4,000 for every man, woman, and child in this country. Sure, you could tax 100% of the rich's (Will someone, please define rich for me) income; but that still leaves a big hole in wallet. There isn't enough taxes to go get. You must cut spending.
And when I mean cut spending, I mean, cut actual spending; not from some projected baseline amount; but from what was actually spent in FY 2012. For example; If a program cost $1.00; then for FY 2013 – cut it to 90 Cents; and 85 Cents for FY 2014; and 80 Cents for FY 2015; etc.
What programs are to be affected: Everything – Defense, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, crop subsidies, ethanol subsidies, mortgage interest deduction, charity deduction, Carried Interest, Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, WIC, Pell Grants, corporate meals & entertainment, and more!
Social Security: Raise normal retirement age to 70 from 67 over a 36 time frame (1 month a year for 36 years); eliminate the early 62 option along the same lines. Impose a 6 year freeze on cost of living adjustments. The SS freeze will also freeze the inflation adjustment factor used in computing the Primary Insurance Amount (PIA) at full retirement. Raise the denominator used in computing PIA from 420 months to 480 months over a 30 year time frame. And I'm surprised you haven't advocated eliminating the annual earnings cap on which FICA is taxed. Eliminating that and everybody who earns more (approx. $110,000 will have an additional 6.2% taken out (assuming payroll tax holiday is not extended.) Medicare – Raise the age to 70 from 65 over a 30 year time frame. Raise annual Medicare deductible to 7.5% of average of last 5 years income. Raise monthly Medicare insurance premium (even if it reduces SS) once Adjusted Gross Income exceeds $50,000 by $25/month. Raise by $25/month per increase in AGI of $50,000 per year – ie; If AGI > $250,000; the monthly premium is raised by $250 from current levels.
Cost of Living Adjustment Freeze: For six years, all indexes getting an annual inflation adjustment will be frozen at current levels – No increases for SS, federal & military employees & retirees. No adjustment to tax bases, Standard Deductions, Personal Exemptions.
Use the 1997 benefit rules for food stamps, EITC, WIC, etc. – keep in place for 6 years.
Defense: Cut the number of worldwide bases, cut the number of contractors. There's lots of money that can be saved and still leave enough for equipment modernization.

Obamation won't negotiate – so quit trying. Let the cliff hit and blame the Democrats in 2014 and 2016.

Jkane, why do you single put Romney? Aren't you just as concerned about the Kennedy family with their fortune in overseas accounts? Let's not forget the Rockefellers also! The left never seems to care when it is their own that avoid taxes.
