Romney spotted ringside at Marquez-Pacquiao fight

(CNN) - Mitt Romney ended his political battle a month ago, but the former GOP presidential nominee took in a different kind of fight Saturday: a non-title bout in Las Vegas between boxers Juan Manuel Marquez and Manny Pacquiao.

Romney shook Pacquiao's hand before the fight, wishing him success in the match. Pacquiao himself is also a politician, serving as a congressman in his native Philippines. He has endorsed some American politicians, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Democrat.

According to a tweet from Greg Bishop, who covers boxing for the New York Times, Romney greeted Pacquiao in the locker room after the bout, telling the defeated fighter: "Hello Manny. I ran for president. I lost."

The fight came to an end 2:59 into the sixth round, after Marquez landed a right hand to Pacquiao's face, knocking him cold late Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Pacquiao went down face-first and lay motionless for a while, possibly unconscious, before eventually sitting up. It was called a technical knockout and Marquez declared the winner.

Pacquiao shook Marquez' hand.

The fight was originally scheduled for 12 rounds. Both fighters scored knock-downs earlier in the fight with Marquez putting Pacquiao on his back and Pacquiao tipping Marquez enough off of his feet to cause one of his gloves to touch the mat.

CNN's Ben Brumfield and Jill Martin contributed to this report.

lol, liberals are a funny bunch, even after the election is over, they still need the bad guy. Truth is liberalism can't stand on its own two feet, it always needs someone to bash and blame.

Bribarian, you are a funny person. The candidate of your party lost to a president when the unemployment rate was 8%, and you can still laugh about the situation. LOL.

Going to a boxing match is about as tacky and low class thing as you can do. I'm surprised little Annie puts up with it. Must be a clear sign of their continuing depression that they go slumming like that.

Why do we care what Romney is doing? He lost! The country clearly rejected him, Ryan and their ideas. So, why would we care if he is at a right, the gas station....where he was pictured, or anywhere else? Again....he LOST in an electoral landslide!

Romney like Pacquiao was defeated sure, but this setback is short term. In fact, this is a defining moment for both. Their legacy will be known more through humanitarian and philanthropic causes. Thank you for your strenght in character and passion to help people.

How long do we have to hear all about what the Romney's are doing.

Is the media now going to report any and every little thing they do?
We have had just enough of the draft dodger Romney and his queen wife.

Please just let them go off into oblivion. They are not worth writing about.

First Romney shook Pacquiano and then Marquez knockouts Pacquiano to end the fight.

Boy Romney just can't win, and to be honest his luck is so bad I would never want him to shake my hand. I would be jinxed from then on.

Came to CNN from Politico. They had the same story on their site. I scrolled down to glance at some of the comments and I could not believe the hate-filled comments directed towards Romney. The man lost. He graciously conceded and wished President Obama, Michelle and their two daughters the best. Then he returned to private life. The liberals are still demonizng him, villifying him and wishing him dead. The man lost. The body is dead. You don't have to keep dancing on it. Politics aside, Romney is a nice man. Liberals must always have someone to hate. It truly is amazing.
