Susan Rice withdraws from consideration as secretary of state

(CNN) - Susan Rice, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations who drew heavy criticism from Republicans over her statements after the September attacks on a U.S. diplomatic mission, withdrew her name from consideration for secretary of state on Thursday.

In a letter to President Barack Obama, she said "the confirmation process would be lengthy, disruptive, and costly - to you and to our most pressing national and international priorities. That trade-off is simply not worth it to our country."

I believe that ANYONE who's Democrat, the Republicans would find something WRONG with them~
To really be satisfied, the person would HAVE to be Republican~~qualified or not~~

Come on people. Le's get serious. Everyone knows that the Libya fiasco was due to the fact that Obama was supplying guns to the rebels and the envoy was sent in again to pull back on the gun running to avoid being found out. Iran contra mean anything to you????? this is how the American government works....Secretly arm the side you want to win so you can remain at a distance....Maximum deniability. The attack on the consulate was orchestrated by the US government to cover up the operation. Why else would the CIA not respond in a timely manner when they were right around the corner. If they wanted to they would have. Our special forces rescued that doctor recently resulting in the loss of one of our elite solders......Your telling me that we would protect a doctor on a humanitarian mission but not an ambassador.

Whether she was fit for the job or not, we'll never know, because McCain and his fellow thugs dragged her name through the mud. Sad that she let them get to her.

This is good news not only for America but also for the world. Susan misled President Clinton into keeping silent during the Rwanda genocide and was responsible for promoting African dictators like Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia, Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Isayas Afeworki of Eritrea, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda as the "New" breed of African leaders. Because of her actions thousands of Africans lost their lives and millions are still living under dictatorship. Thanks go God she will not be our next secretary of state.

Well done Susan Rice. You did the right thing.

How can anyone think that she is a good choice, qualified or not?? My memory of her will ALWAYS be the split screen of her LYING on 5 different morning shows about Benghazi. Clearly she lied, or was told to lie.

"I find it humerous that you republicans take any opportunity to insult anyone who isn't within your party. You all sound foolish and my 10 year old child has more sense than you."

Did you just accuse Republicans of taking any opportunity to insult Democrats simply because of ideological differences and then turn around and do EXACTLY THE SAME THING to Republicans only a sentence later?

I hope John McCain and Lindsey Graham are happy. They never gave Susan rice the chance to defend herself. I am sure they have skeletons in their closets...won't be long before they are revealed.

Thats something great, we got some good news today, here is why :

    1. when people died in Benghazi she did cover it up on the request of WH and Obama.
    2. you cannot come to an enquiry and say " you forgot the bombing of the embasies in 1998
    3. you lost your credibility, now and you are just bowing down, seeing Obama would have a tough time explaining all this mess.

Its good that we make a smart choice moving forward, otherwise we will have a similar situation down the line, we became a laughing stock in the world arena

Obama undermined her when he came out and tried to protect her like a big brother. we need someone tough and can stand by herself as the top diplomat of the US to the world. We don't need someone who needs obama protection every time there is an attack. She should be able to defend herself.

Obama's whole administration of full of those unqualified. I think he appoints people not because of the quality of their character but the color of their skin.

So conservaties have yet again effectively put a stop to a completely qualified person obtaining a position they have earned and deserve due to their own insecurities, fears and paranoia.....SHOCKING!

Susan Rice is a class act in the face of ongoing Republican foolishness. Compare her to Bush's UN Ambassador John Bolton, who had to be appointed to that position by executive order while Congress was in recess, because he didn't have the integrity to remove himself from consideration when his candidacy caused a political uproar.

These imbeciles with their fake outrage over Benghazi aren't fit to shine Rice's shoes.
