Washington (CNN) – Assistant Secretary of Diplomatic Security Eric Boswell and two other officials resigned in the wake of a review of security failures in Benghazi, Libya, two senior State Department officials told CNN Wednesday.
The independent review of the September 11 attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi released Tuesday cites "systemic failures and leadership and management deficiencies" at the State Department.

Its about time, and Lamb should go as well, its her more then anybody elses failure that allowed this tragedy to happen.
C'mon Obama, step up to the plate and follow suit, we need someone qualified to lead this nation.
Looks like the buck does NOT stop at the top. It appears the Obama administration has found their scapegoats. As Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton is the one ultimately responsbile for this disaster happening. Now while it was going on for 7 hours, what was she and Obama doing to help those people??? Shocking that no photos of them staring attentively at a screen have come out like they did when UBL was killed. Nothing but a cover up, pure and simple.
I gotta admit. The Obama administration is pretty slick when it comes to tactics. I think I can see how this will be met on the right. If I'm right, the Republicans are going to paint themselves into yet another corner.
I question whether or not this administration is behind this shooting just to push thier anti gun agenda! Theyve provided the guns for the slaughter of women and children before. The only problem is thosr murderd happened in Mexico and not here so they didnt get the anti gun media backing like they have now. They killed 100's before they got caught after a US border guard wss killed, so where were the anti gunners then crying out for the hanging of this administration? If the anti gunners want to save the children, why not ban tabbaco, boose and cars... All three of these kill far more children then guns ever have or will.
And yet no misconduct was determined, according to the report. Just some vague charges about not having enough security in far-flung places like Libyan consulates. Price of empire, baby.
Heads rolling for the sake of political optics is another price of empire, it seems.
The SOS should be the one resigning.
Eric Boswell, the assistant secretary of state for diplomatic security, Charlene Lamb, the deputy assistant secretary responsible for embassy security, should be spending some prison time, not doing their jobs. Lamb continued to deny any security over and over. Who is this GOD Charlene Lamb, that has the power to get people killed because of her decisions.
I suspect they are leaving with big pensions, and severance pay. Thus never to have to work again. Our government continues to pay those that fail at their jobs, just because they have been there for decades.
We all knew that heads will roll and now they're rolling. It's just too bad that Amb. Rice had to be crucified for nothing she had anything to do with. Shame on you Sen. McCain, Ayotte & Graham.

A/S Boswell is an outstanding leader, and has protected American interests overseas for decades. This is wrong.
The little people take the fall, and the truly guilty parties remain in charge.
the whole truth on this needs to come out when hillary clinton testifies under oath and in public. this report covers nothing concerning what was done while these 4 americans were being attacked for 7 hours. and certainl;y nothing about the cover up afterwards. this report only starts to address the incompetence that lead up to this disaster that got 4 americans needlessly killed.
If there wasn't excessive negligence, there would be no resignations. And who were these individuals under? Where's Hilary Clinton's resignation? She should not be allowed to resign with dignity when she has blood on her hands.
Nobody took the fall in the Bush administration for 9-11 when we lost over 3,000 Americans and not counting the number killed in war that was based on a lie. Where were you then, living in another country.

What is so slick about it is that Republicans are going to react just like you will, and talk themselves into another corner. What's the best way to keep a shyster at bay? Play stupid, and the shyster in turn becomes simplistic and predictable.

unfortunately, many in the state dept. did not play stupid but were stupid and got 4 people killed with their incompetence. and then sent willing political hacks out to lie for them. it is truly sad that your blind adherance to your ideology also blinds you to the very simple and obvious facts of this disaster. it dishonors those that were killed.
