Benghazi report threatens to tarnish Clinton's legacy

Washington (CNN) – The year 2012 was supposed to herald Hillary Clinton's swan song, a golden departure amid speculation that she might consider another run at the presidency in 2016.

Instead, the outgoing Secretary of State has found herself and her agency at the center of a scathing report about bloody attacks on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, which left four Americans dead, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

So the report says that we don't have enough security in consulates in far-away lands, eh? Wow, what an excellent way to waste even more of the nation's wealth. Ain't empire great?

By the way, Clinton's legacy and/or Presidential prospects in 2016 becoming in danger of getting tarnished is a pretty ancillary matter, dontcha think?

Why are they trying to swift boat Mrs. Clinton? It is all a distraction from the real issues.

It's because Mitt Romney put his foot in his mouth on the night of the attack.
It's because the Tea Party overrun House cut $450 milliion from the embassy defense allocation.
It's because distraction is what Republicans do when they're caught with the hand in the cookie jar.

Bengazhi is only a thorn in John McCain's side. He thought all that talk would help get Romney elected. Didnt work now he uses it to discredit Dr Rice. Bengazhi is no longer a talking point for sen mcbitter so watch it fade to black just like 9 11 01

Somehow, I don't think this will tarnish her that much, not if this is all that the media and the GOP can drum up.
I am truly sorry for the loss of these 4 people, and I hope that our government officials will take more care in ensuring safety for all Americans.
And Happy Holidays/Merry Christmas to the good people or Newtown, Conn.

Did you people see the report that just came out? Did you see all the things that were either done wrong or ignored?

I don't think so - all the attacks on embassies under Bush, Reagan, Bush 1 didn't get this kind of attention. Why now? Think "trying to hurt President Obama".

McCain should have resigned instead of running again; Graham should never have been voted in to start with, and a lot of other repubs will be ousted their next election. We've seen their insides, and we don't like it. Hate doesn't have any place in Government.

  8. The REAL Truth...

Wow, the Obstructionist Party continues to amaze!! Where were the rant's, raving and [proverbial] Congressional [witch hunt] committees when the USS Cole got blown up (despite being warned in advance) and 19 of our loyal servicemen lost their lives ???? Of course.. we had a Repugnant President (the worst in history BTW) and they wanted ALL that hidden. There were 18 terrorist "incidents" in 8 yrs of Bush 43, not one of them created censure of any cabinet member. What's different now is the GOTP has a "chip" on their shoulder and needs to re-assert themselves and remember who's leading the charge on this one.

"Benghazi report threatens to tarnish Clinton's legacy"

yeah it doesn't! Hillary is going to come through this unscathed.
the fact of the matter is the ambassador refused extra security and the GOtP gutted funding for the state dept.
    nothing is getting tarnished

I am here to neither condone her nor defend her. There were mistakes made that dated back to long before she became SoS. Hopefully this is a wake up call. However, taking into consideration the high level of GOP bickering and stupidity in Washington, it's doubful much will change. Funding is funding is funding.

It's also doubtful this will in anyway effect her chances of becoming President of the United States should she decide to run.

Why now? Because previous administrations didnt lie to the American people in order to prevent the truth from ruining a presidential bid! And as far as tarnishing her rep or the possibility she will run in 2016, no, this wont matter – libs dont hold integrity, service to our nation, etc in high regard and would vote for her anyway.

4 Americans die in violent terrorist attack in Libya: GOP demands hearings and scalps.

20 small children and 7 adults die in a horrible gun-rampage attack in CT: GOP virtually silent and prepared to block hearings.

    Any questions?

Why are people narrow minded? Can one mistake if at all it exists, tarnish what Hillary has done for the country for the past 4 years? She did a remarkable job compared to all congressmen/women did combined in that particular period. If you can not punish those do nothing congress, cashed checks for the work they did not do, why should you punish a person who put herself day and night, slept on flights, meeting people of different nationality, eating un-eatable food (sometimes), in the name of serving the country! Hey,crucifying anyone takes a very, very sounding reason to do so!

The reality of what happened, should do far more than "tarnish" Clinton and Obama, equally.

Both lied to the people, about this incident, directly. There is no doubt of that whatsoever.

Only the true Socialists believe they didn't lie...........which simply shows how much they are in self denial of truth.

She deserves to have her "reputation" tarnished, her lack of substance to do anything as Sec. of State, besides a dog and pony show got people killed. She said she takes the blame,so let her and this will ruin any chance of ever holding a Public Office ever again, and I believe the American people are fine with that. Enough of the Clinton's. She can not lie her way out of this one, the facts are there and she can't hide them.

I'm not sure if it will but I am sure the Republicans will try to make it tarnish her..about their only chance to beat her if she runs in 2016
