Palin bashes Time magazine's 'Person of the Year'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin, who's been listed twice as one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People," is taking issue with the publication's decision to name President Barack Obama as its "Person of the Year."

Poking fun at herself, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee said the magazine lacks a certain degree of relevancy.

"Time magazine, I think there's some irrelevancy there to tell you the truth. I mean consider their list of the most influential people in the country and in the world. Some who have made that list? Yours truly. That oughta tell ya something right there regarding the credence we should give Time magazine and their list of people," she said Wednesday on Fox News.

Managing editor Richard Stengel wrote Obama deserved the recognition because he "forged a new majority, turned weakness into opportunity and sought, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union."

But Palin, who along with 2008 GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, lost to the Democratic presidential ticket four years ago, said "those are some silly words chosen to describe Barack Obama."

"When I first heard that, the first thing that popped in my mind was: What the heck has he done? Really, what has he done, except drive us over a fiscal cliff," she said. "What has he done to unify and make our nation a more perfect union? For the life of me, I don't know."

The former Alaska governor was chosen as one of the magazine's most influential people in 2009 and held a top spot on the same list in 2010. She was also considered one of four runners-up for "Person of the Year" in 2008, when Obama first received the title, and as someone "who mattered" in 2010.

She argued that "the path towards a perfect union is our Constitution" but said Obama "sees it as a charger of negatives" that needs serious changes.

Palin stoked speculation for much of 2011 as she considered a presidential bid but ultimately decided to stay out of the running. She largely stayed out of the presidential race, instead choosing to campaign for conservative Senate candidates in GOP primary battles.

I don't understand the hatred for Sarah Palin. What has she done to any of you that find it intelligent to call her names?

I think that Palin is so far beyond the point of relevancy that it defies description. The only reason CNN is quoting her is that it'll get views on their website. Then again, so would a train wreck.

The GOP takes no responsibility for the fiscal cliff. They don't seem to act responsible about anything. Even the debt they created.

She makes me want to vomit. Who else puts rifle crosshairs on pictures the nation’s leaders? This woman should be shot for treason. Who cares what this sad excuse for a human being thinks!

Palin please go back to Alaska and have more babies or watch Russia from your house. I have no clue why people listen to you. IT feels like a dog barking.

Of course Palin "slams person of the year." Palin can't stand to be the one NOT in the spotlight, NOT getting attention. But TIME although sometimes awarding to controversial people, never awards to stupid people. So Pallin would never be in the running and, moreover, nobody really cares about her opinion. But as long as "news" outlets such as CNN insist on breathlessly hanging onto her every word, she will continue to bask in some degree of spotlight, no matter how undeserved and uninteresting.

Even Palin in all her foolishness is a breath of fresh air from hearing about what happened in CT. I'm so sick of the coverage I could scream. Now please Sarah take your ignoranance back to the woods and stay there.

Ah, Sarah Palin, the best and the brightest of Republicans.

Everyone in her family has divorced, Sarah several times. They all use drugs. Sarah pranced around naked in front of AP reporters in her hotel room, basically showing she is a slut, but we knew that since she has had children with so many dads.

She was a landslide loser in her election, and her own state threw her out of office.

Yes, Sarah, pray tell, now what were you saying about other people? And once again, is South America an island as you contend?

Definition of patriotism: the belief that one's country is the best simply by virtue of being born in it. Think about that. Patriotism and nationalism have turned the US into a laughing stock around the world. America is NOT the best country in the world, no matter how much uneducated, power-wielding, gun-loving "christians" believe it to be. Until the powers-that-be decide to take care of those that really need support, instead of lining their pockets, the US will never be a true leader in the world. And the powers-that-be are NOT the faces of the government, but rather, those that pull the strings behind the scenes. God bless America, and God help the rest of us??? Does it not terrify you to think that Palin once came so very close to having such power? May as well have been an uneducated, gun-loving "christian"........

Nobody hates her – in fact we love her for the comic relief she provides every time she opens her mouth. As for the namecalling, just returning what she dishes out – in spades!

Palin made some good money off all of the fame. Now she trying to get back into being a topic, but it just fails the litmus test every time. Still angry at Obama. The man 100 times more influential and a person of the year than Palin.

Hey Knowledge4Real–Person of the year is not an honor or an award. Its the most newsworthy person. If I'm not mistaken Saddam Hussein was a POY. Hardly an accolade.

  23. She's got a point - ironically

Palin should never be listed on anyone's list of influential or important people. But to tab Obama is almost as bad. He has done little if anything to unite this country. It doesn't matter if he tried to do that – he hasn't done it. Just like the Noble Prize he won for doing absolutely nothing. He spends more time blaming others than working to unite his own party and encourage the right to moderate. The fact is, the middle ground is what benefits this country the most and he hasn't be able to get either party to that place. Don't give him credit for uniting......he hasn't done that.
