Palin bashes Time magazine's 'Person of the Year'

(CNN) - Sarah Palin, who's been listed twice as one of Time Magazine's "100 Most Influential People," is taking issue with the publication's decision to name President Barack Obama as its "Person of the Year."

Poking fun at herself, the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee said the magazine lacks a certain degree of relevancy.

"Time magazine, I think there's some irrelevancy there to tell you the truth. I mean consider their list of the most influential people in the country and in the world. Some who have made that list? Yours truly. That oughta tell ya something right there regarding the credence we should give Time magazine and their list of people," she said Wednesday on Fox News.

Managing editor Richard Stengel wrote Obama deserved the recognition because he "forged a new majority, turned weakness into opportunity and sought, amid great adversity, to create a more perfect union."

But Palin, who along with 2008 GOP presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, lost to the Democratic presidential ticket four years ago, said "those are some silly words chosen to describe Barack Obama."

"When I first heard that, the first thing that popped in my mind was: What the heck has he done? Really, what has he done, except drive us over a fiscal cliff," she said. "What has he done to unify and make our nation a more perfect union? For the life of me, I don't know."

The former Alaska governor was chosen as one of the magazine's most influential people in 2009 and held a top spot on the same list in 2010. She was also considered one of four runners-up for "Person of the Year" in 2008, when Obama first received the title, and as someone "who mattered" in 2010.

She argued that "the path towards a perfect union is our Constitution" but said Obama "sees it as a charger of negatives" that needs serious changes.

Palin stoked speculation for much of 2011 as she considered a presidential bid but ultimately decided to stay out of the running. She largely stayed out of the presidential race, instead choosing to campaign for conservative Senate candidates in GOP primary battles.

  2. Get a clue

Obama DIVIDED our country while 47% did NOT vote for him. He lied to the uniformed voters and they took it hook, line, and sinker. Own it LIBS!

  3. Facts don't Lie

Let's see the last president to win Time's person of the year twice was GW Bush and had Mitt Romney won he would have had the same honor. Sarah and her sour grapes have gotten very old and she needs to go away like most losing VP candidates do.

Other than get re-elected and consistently promote TIME magazine's far left's agenda what did Obama accomplish in 2012? Absolutely nothing.

Where she has been? Ah, Sarah, Sarah... how sad not beeing in the spot light, it sounds as if still hurts to be ignored. Maybe Alaska should be sold and that way the National Debt could be paid and we would not have to hear from her at all. Former two year Governor : please stick to your bussines of writing books and make money from the suckers who buy them. President Obama is a serious leader and the country is in the mend. Be patriotic !!!!!!!

Thank you John McCain for introducing this woman who doesn't understand much of government despite trying to run one for a few years. I don't know if she really has that good grasp on this reality either.

Her comment about Obama driving us off the fiscal cliff says it all. Why did she not mention that it was the Republicans who have fought him all the way, and sold out America in an attempt to win back the White House? I hold Republicans 95% responsible for the fiscal mess they have gotten us into, an oh, guess what, Palin is Republican. Guess that explains her comments. She is worse than a has been, because she never was anybody to start with. Why does CNN give her any space at all?

President Obama is obviously Man of the Year.

    He got Bin Laden.
    He got Khadafy.
    He ended the Iraq war.
Unemployment down for 48 straight months. GDP up for 24 straight months. Housing is booming.
And most importantly, he averted the future health care crisis.

America is once again on the road to greatness. Real Americans are proud of our President.

America, love it or leave it. Us Obama fans are loving it. Republicans – leave America if you hate it so much.

I don't understand her or the bad comments on here. People say that he hasn't done anything yet or unite the country. Well, how can you unite the country when you have people like her. Just because he is the president doesn't mean whatever he says it goes. He has ideas but it doesn't get through because congress or the republicans reject his ideas or don't see it the way he does.

  15. A Kickin` Donkey

How many of you remember the fear around the H1N1 swine flu that gripped the world when Mr. Obama came into office? After the Bush Administration`s handling of Katrina, Mr. Obama displayed swift, decissive executive leadership to avert a worldwide pandemic. Now, the likes of Palin will never acknowledge the calamity that was averted, but some of us remember this, or solving the Deepwater Horizon well rupture, or hunting down the Top 100 al Queda terrorists [including OBL], the removal of 20-year old nemisis Kaddhafy, the now over 30+ months of job creation after GWB handing him an economy hemoraging jobs, we remember that we are out of a deadly, budget busting war and are nearly out of a 2nd one. There are many many more accomplishments but Obama haters like Palin will never acknowledge them but Time magazine did.

RE – get a clue – the numbers were Obama 55% and Romney 44% – funny how Romney couldn't even get 47% of the popular vote -

During her comical campaign, she couldn't even name a periodical that she read. She's bashing Time but I bet she doesn't even read it. And speaking of lack of relevance – Palin, please go away.

just proves that poor SP cannot thrive without the glare of the media. she's the opposite of a vampire...sunlight (coverage) makes her live and darkness puts her where she belongs...in the land of irrelevancy...and to think she was potentially a heart beat away from having the launch codes....come on people, let's do two things...pick viable choices and QUIT POSTING ANYTHING about SP
